@@Gabriel_F4924 And as I looked from one to the other, I could no longer tell the difference ...
The devs have got to be thrilled with how human Mark sounds in this patch.
Underrated comment right here, because it's funny, but also true.
According to Le Bon, group intelligence is defined by the dumbest member, not smart one.
So in a social network, the dumbest idea always prevail over smart one. The free speech end result is consensus on the most stupid idea.
"Group decisions - my perhaps jaundiced view is that it is close to impossible for outstanding investment management to come from a group of any size with all parties really participating in decisions" - Warren Buffett.
The amount of botted comments and likes trying to fix zucc's image by commenting weird stuff about how human and relatable he is is so hilarious.
@@clodieclod What do you mean by botted? Like actual bots posting comments or just "bots" whom I see everywhere (highest concentration I run into is on the road lol) who just read the comments and copy what everybody else is saying as opposed to just posting a genuine comment they came up with while watching the video. I ask because I now think that most of the people on the comments section aren't actually people, but just a mix of AI and other, more crude bots like the reply girls.
Depends on the shtoyle
Lex has finally interviewed the most advanced robot ever made.
You just took the words from my mouth
He interviewed himself?
Love it 😂
ever*
He even gave him the "I'm not a robot" test
I'm glad to hear what a person says, and not just hear what other people say about him. Valuable.
Have to agree, never been a fan of mark zuckerberg but realise I've only been fed information about him via an algorithm that tries to get an emotional reaction, or whenever he's in the news for something meta did. It's refreshing to hear him just talk.
It's still hard to say where his heart is at and how I feel about his work but his ambition and ideas are interesting.
I find that what some people say about him disappointing. Disappointing in that, it seems to me, that people are doing what seems to be a popular narrative about Mark Zuckerberg. Describing him as unfeeling, like a robot, dehumanizing him, and dehumanizing Lex too.
What I see are two people who are thoughtful and with that thoughtfulness they can sometimes make such well considered responses that those responses are outstanding and so liken that precision to a robot rather than acknowledge the thoughtfulness of their responses.
I wish the interview was longer and hope they share another conversation. It seemed to me Mark Zuckerberg alluded to his openness or even interest in doing another. Hopefully he is not discouraged from the comments section of this video.
I'm sorry if my sentence construction isn't great... I just woke up but wanted to finish off the rest of the video and, unexpectedly, feel the impulse to do this comment -all while feeling a little sleepy lol.
Most of his critics are complete ideologue morons
Nice try robots.
@@jin6000 Nowadays every smart answer is considered "being a robot". What a sad world.

I thought it was funny through watching this- Lex DID DO a phenomenal job!
That said- Mark kept his security parameters in place. throughout the entire interaction Mark was still the amalgamation of the perceivable veneer he wants us to see.

I have to admit that I wasn't 99.9% sure of the existence of humanity in this gentleman's soul. Fortunately, this conversation got me pretty close to that number. Way to go, Lex. Your craft keeps getting better and better.
Before this interview, did you think that Zuckerberg was Dr Evil just manipulating humanity in his lab atop Mt. Everest? 😂 Whenever people point the finger at Zuckerberg as single-handedly destroying humanity, that tells me that you don’t understand algorithms, and that you don’t take responsibility for OUR role in the poison on social media. The algorithms amplify our good and bad, they don’t create it.
Right? It's Lex work. He must have done some serious coding prior this interview.
@@donharris8846 yep. I think it’s the same with anything and everything though, people included. When something results in a negative, we very quickly forget all the positives. I haven’t used Facebook in a few years now but I LOVED it for a good 5 or 6 years in my early 20’s. I made a lot of great friends on there and it was such a great way to keep in touch with people and share media.
But now people can only see it as some evil and manipulative tool. But like you said, that isn’t down to the service it’s down to the users who (for no fault of their own often) lack critical thinking skills, or who actively wish to manipulate and deceive. The kinds of people who would use any other form of media to do so, but Facebook is unfortunately perfect for nefarious deeds like that.
I mean newspapers have been used for propaganda, deceit, manipulation etc for centuries. But you don’t hear people decrying the evils of the daily newspaper
@@julesbrunton1728 could have sworn lex had a whole speech talking about cynicism

Thanks, Lex for doing this long-form interview, it is important for public figures like Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk to explain themselves because mainstream media and short interview wouldn't be enough
true true
In near future media should buy this self you tubers butter than any journalist can ask any issues
These long from interviews get past the PR talking points into the actual drivers and motivations on the people driving these decisions
These people are extremely wealthy on a world stage and effect policy. There should be more transparency for us to get to know them.
Very interesting Interview. When facebook started I got involved. I loved the group events. Im part of a huge Vespa and Lambretta Scooter scene here in Ireland. A club could post an event and it gave everyone the oppurtunity on one page to organize meet up along routes, who was attending and tech details. I loved it. As a cranky 50 year old who is and loves been anti social...........actually engaged because it was effortless and I enjoyed it. The main feed was full of my friends and I could see what was going on in their lives. I got involved.
Then over time it began to change. Had to go looking for my friends feeds. Ads that I had no interest in. Then difficulty seen the comments and had to click a few times just to see what people were saying. Then it got to the stage where it was just the most prolific and needy posters and commentators that I saw and it became annoying. The constant changes to the format turned me off. I haven't used facebook in years and never will.
My point: Mark ruined his own product and knew it but didn't care. He ploughed through his idea of 'bringing us all together' by applying his own warped idea of what people wanted. He was wrong and continued to ruin his product. But.....in investors and financial worlds- facebook was profitable which drove him more. Then the privacy issues kicked in and further ruined it. He is cut off from how people feel and cut off because of clearly doesn't have the capacity to empathise with the rest of us. This is the same person who early in years created a program that rated people by looks. A total disregard for how people would feel about getting judged on looks and appearance. This is the key to this man conscious.
All he has are cliched phrases when it comes to 'human' questions and about the 'human' experience. He has no experience with humans and resorts back to just saying words. He can talk about tech issues for hours but when it comes to the human experience- his answers drip with awkwardness.
Personally I hope he fails. I still dislike him.
Thank you for this. I really enjoyed the entirety of this conversation.

I will take this energy to apply to my own life and actions and act out of love and communicate woth as many people. Thank you Lex. And thank God for letting me have this opportunity in life. Thankful.
I'm 19 years old and I've always thought that, as I get older, I don't want to become the grumpy old man that talks about how "the good old days", "kids these days" or how everything used to be better. I made it one of my life goals to keep up with technology. But hearing Mark say that soon, most of our meaningful experiences will supposedly be had in a digital world like the Metaverse, I'm starting to question my original stance.
First off, I don't believe a majority of humans will ever have most of their meaningful experiences in a virtual world. At least not until we reach a 'Ready Player One' level of realism and endless possibilities, a space and time that doesn't try to replicate the current world (like the Metavers is doing right now), but surpasses it by removing its limitations (like in the aformentioned movie). In such a case, I wouldn't be too opposed to this societal change.
Secondly, and because I don't think this level of realism will be possible until 30-40 years from now, Metaverse and its copies will continue to feel like a massive downgrade from 'real' society and life. It misses inherently human aspects such as senses (touch (and with that, temperature and human contact), smell, taste...), and lowers the of significance of things (virtual actions/events have no repercussions in the physical world and virtual objects aren't physically *real*).
Lex has managed to humanize Zuckerberg in my eyes for the first time, or maybe it's just that I've never heard him speak for such a long period of time unscripted and openly, or maybe the AI is just getting really good now
Yeah I agree..im.surprised more big figures don't do this to Improve their image..I also find a bit disturbing that I could view someone so badly without really hearing them speak like this as well
Edit * upon reflection it's not so much I viewed Zuckerberg as the bad guy but more so Facebook as a whole
I think that's an issue with Zuckerberg. He rarely goes unscripted. Meanwhile, Musk isn't afraid to go unscripted, he shoots out some questionable tweets and smokes dope with Rogan. Musk has inhuman intelligence, ambition and work ethic - but we still see him as human because he's more open and real. Zuck should take notes.

Hey lex. Nice to meet. First time seeing your videos. Thank you for your work. Wondered and just wanted to ask if you can make a video about the books you read or love and recommend. Just few of your favorite that changed your perspective. Thanks 😊
What a spectacular era! To be able to see 2 robots fine-tuning and interact so humanly.
Love how he had him circle the traffic lights lol . Great ice breaker and just initiates where Lex stands
Honerstly low key shade that seems to be overlooked in the comments beyond the "hur hur mark robot hur hur" was a great take.
Beyond that, honestly the rest of the interview was palatable, I need to get more woke to fully adopt the hur hur robot thesis.
@@mjn6six6 I think you need a lithium
It isn't about where he stands
He asked Mark to do it because he was incapable of it himself, Lex is a Gen4 Synth
5:40 "I'm not a Robot."
That's exactly what a Robot person pretending to be a human would say.
And he answers the question like a fucking robot
-Then id be some computer construct hahaha
Thank you very much Lex for what you do!!! Very intersting.
He passed the Turing test!
Jokes aside Mark is really a misunderstood genius, sadly the media is dishonest.
Uh-huh
Ye
strange statement. what media? all media? someone from media? media channels? MZ is the media himself. I also feel the VR bandwagon will lose momentum when ppl realise it's just another arm of capitalism
oh god. not this "media bad" nonsense again.
Ur dumb. People hate him for a ton of really good reasons. If you don’t know then you don’t know. But it’s kind of like impossible not to know. It’s insane you got 30 likes.
It is fascinating watching these two AI's communicate with each other. Their perspective on life is intriguing as well.
Def AI
This! ☝🏻
The joke continues, yes!!!
fascinating indeed
Bots for sure !
Lex has such a good heart, he can even transform revenge into a nice thing by making Zuck circle traffic lights.
Lex, man, you’re awesome! Thanks for all of your powerful and insightful content and words, always. 🙂🙃
Great interview Lex. I have been to many countries and my opinion is that social media increases anxiety and depression. In being on social media many people become depressed after many years of watching how others live, being poor or well off. I think that it has an affect on the brain after a while and not knowing that this increases these things. Instead of concentrating on their own lives, people worry about “keeping up with the Jones”.
This was surprisingly interesting and Zuckerberg came off surprisingly well. It feels like it was rushed towards the end, I wish it would have lasted longer. I'll be hoping for a part 2 where things get to go deeper.
Zuck just had a software update. 🤖
I'm sure Zuck rehearsed all possible questions beforehand. He's been scrutinized so many times that he just repeats the same lines that he has memorized.
I think it’s because Zuck was asked human questions, rather than media narrative questions. The point here was to have a conversation, rather than to target key discussions. Which is why I love the Lex Fridman podcast. Make having normal human conversations normal again.
500 million spent to rig the election for Biden, next time he'll spend 5 Billion, no one should allow him in their to get away with it
Traditional media did a big push to turn Zuck into some kind of supervillain.
I feel like Mark zuckerberg treats every conversation or interaction like a test on which he’s being graded. I don’t feel like I ever get a response from him where he’s actually expressing his opinion, but instead trying to give the optimal answer. So...no surprises from this interview.
I mean considering he’s likely to be judged by billions of ppl it’s necessary. It’s what most politicians do
I can almost see that perspective; I think many people are missing the context. This was one of the most human and natural and open interviews I’ve seen Mark give. He IS trying to give an optimal answer because he’s the face of a billion dollar company; That’s a lot of context people throw out. Further he’s a guy who has been PR schooled basically through his entire adult life. What you’re seeing here are natural responses with a few caveats. Are they filtered through a PR lens? Indeed. If you expect better I suspect you’ll not find it anywhere :)
@@iamgates7679 we don't expect better from Zuckerberg though.
he is just a person operating on a different level than all of us. he needs to be calculated and stay on point. his personality is now this. an intelligent introverted person normally speaks like this.
You can tell, because you are a human with a deep and developed ability to read body language. This is the body language of a person who is not sharing their actual thoughts. We also already know from the whistle blower that they are purposefully doing things that are harmful to people and especially youth
Lex your optimizum is fabulous. If everyone had love and belief in the ability of humans to be good that would truly be a miracle of the world
Is there any possibility Lex is going to make a Podcast with maybe questions by his friends, fans and inspirations and asking them himself? He's so damn interessting and the people he interviews. love love love love it!
this was actually way more interesting than I initially thought. I thought the Zuck would just go full cyborg and push the metaverse but he brought a more human version of his software today
Not really.
@@ryleethrace1 agreed 💯 just confirmed my anti meta
Good enough to sign off on the physical world ?
I had to initiate Chuckle.exe file on your comment 😆
😂😂😂
Damn, a Robot built by the CIA, Zuckerberg, having a conversation with a Robot built by the KGB, Lex Fridman. What a moment in history...
smart!
LMAO
It is like the Rocky sequel we never got
@@electrominded8372 For real haha
Your introduction speech is so powerful. It made me emotional for a few minutes. Thank you
Great interview Lex! You have become a force to be reckon with, with all the great questions you ask.
Props to Mark for this conversation. This is probably the most natural and relatable I've ever seen him come across in all the media he's done so far.
He sounds like an average business owner trying to find the next big thing. That is fine, but an average business owner should not have the power and influence of Meta. I wish he had the same influence as the German company that bought Budweiser. The power to influence every election in the Free World is a bit much.
Thanks. Turns out we just had to upgrade the processor in his speech board.
Stock price plunging, expect to see a lot more of his “human” side
That’s not really saying much..
Agree. This actually changed my opinion of him. Well done Lex.
You wanna be seen as human and as having a soul? This is how you do that. This ONE single interview will do more for Zuck than anything else he will ever do. I actually got my first real sense of the man in all these years.
very true, be transparent.
Totally agree!! I have a lot more compassion in my heart for Zuck than I did before this podcast.
I would not doubt that meta stock will rise in the next few days because of his interview
There's a thing called the Rogan bump and now they'll be the lex bump
He Just said corporate bs
“Can you circle all the traffic lights please?” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Loving all of the podcasts
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Lex, that is the greatest into ever “can you circle all the lights please”
Love it. Much love.
Epic troll move
I think that part of the podcast is underrated 😂
Someone mentioned it in the comments before this was posted!
@@zunetrav4 it caught me off guard. The comedians are rubbing off on lex lol.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 lmfao
Glad to see they finally got Mark’s sense of humor out of beta testing…
DUUUUDE I still can't get over your intro speech, it's truly awesome in all sense of the word.
Mr. Fridman not only do you have mt deepest respect, you also have my absolute undying loyalty. Whatever you say man I'm with you, alot of people prolly feel this way too, be wise, be fearless.
I fucking love you man.
Love Lex, this interview was intersting. I am so over social media, only one I use is Yt. Maybe it changes in the future, but right now it’s really boring.
This interview was so much better than anything youd ever get from mainstream media. Amazing work Lex 👏👏
Mainstream media is destroying themselves with the negativity zuck was talking about as short termism
given this is two hours long and mainstream media segments are closer to two minutes, i feel obliged to call you captain obvious
@@malachistice8111 MM actually do cut hours long convos into bite size chunks spread out. There's also a program called 60 minutes 🤷♂️
I really enjoyed this human conversation with The Zuck, thank you Lex.
The zuck is the best. h8rs gonna h8.

I hate Zuckerberg but this is the most human i've ever seen him. I guess policy and humanity are different things, whatever.
