Good vid. My personal record for a 10 dollar air mattress was 9 months. I put a foam cushion on top of it also. I found the secret is to wrap the mattress in something soft like a sheet or light flannel so the air mattress doesn't contact anything remotely rough, like carpet, or the wall, or just about anything. This keeps it from developing those pesty little impossible to find pinhole leaks. Anyway good vid just my experience.
This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Someone who had already done the idea I had, wondering if it could work somehow doubling up my 2 twin air matresses. Thank you! And it looks so cute too!
If your bed is squeaky after this try turning the bottom mattress upside down so the vinyl side (plastic or rubber side) of the bottom mattress is against the vinyl side of the upper mattress. There's more grip when the 2 plastic sides are together so it will squeak less.
I've doctored air mattresses as well to make them more comfortable. What I do is make covers for them and they are smaller. It keeps everything in check (won't stretch) and prevents holes. Covers take between 4 and 5 yards of fabric so not that inexpensive but the end result is something way more comfortable than a sleep number bed.
I don't think tape would work honestly but it won't hurt to try! I personally recommend getting that deep mattress pad that can fully wrap around both. That really helped mine stay together well.
Only thing I would change is tape the poking ends so they don't bust the mattress of the tie downs Always put the sheet on the bottom just in case for popping protection
Not sure what poking ends you're referring to but sounds like a good idea if anyone has poking ends. The lashing straps I used didn't have any poking bits. I've used this exact method over a dozen times now with the same mattresses and straps and haven't experienced any problems BUT mine are only blown up and used occasionally when I have a guest so that should be taken into consideration.
@@PennieDeeStudio my dad has straps he means the metal parts. He tapes them b4 lashing them and otherwise he told me to tell you! I should listen to my daughter when she thought of this (not using straps) years ago

Oh man!!! I keep hearing about people getting holes in their mattresses! I really must have gotten lucky with mine! Wal-Mart, cheapest ones i could find have lasted years!! I believe they are Intex brand!
@@PennieDeeStudio ok I'll check this intex brand out because mine was about 70$ and it only lasted 3 months 😭 now I'm sleeping on the floor I'll go to Wal-Mart tomorrow and see if I can find a good one thanks so much ♥
People when you buy a queen size Air mattress buy king size because the quality of sheets these days SHRINK with every wash and sooner or later you're IT'LL keep popping off of your air mattress especially IF YOUpump it up
Hmmm not sure how to get rid of that sound entirely. Outfitting mine with the matress pad & foam topper really helped muffle that noise. Doesnt get rid of it entirely but I honestly dont hear it whenever I set my mattresses up. If I think of anything else, ill let you know!
I have set this particular set of mattresses up on 5 different occassions over the course of a year. And I've had the matresses for almost 3 years. Maybe I lucked up with mine, but they have lasted & are still going strong as of Oct 2019!
I cannot answer that for you as this is always just a temporary solution for an overnight guest or for when I'm feeling lazy on the wknds and want to hang out in the living room all day.
@@PennieDeeStudio Thanks. I didn't realize there are 2 mattresses. I have a full height mattress with its internal compartments popped and the whole thing becomes "round". So I was led to think straps might do something about it. Guess not.
I would only recommend this for short term use. No more than maybe a week typically and with kids, I'd say no more than 3 days since kids like to play and move around a lot.
@@PennieDeeStudio wow that's great, when I saw the metal part I was like ooohh this might pop, but thanks for your prompt reply. I love a money saving hack 😌 🥰
Wal-Mart.com says the Intex Twin mattress height is 8.75in. which means mine on top of another should roughly be 17.5in tall. I say roughly because I'm not positive if they are the exact same as the 2 I have. Price is definitely different than mine but same brand & size.
I found that mine stayed well inflated for about 2.5 days but thats with me only using it for no more than 4 hours a day. Luckily, these are small & dont take long to reinflate with an electric pump.
Why not buy a metal frame and put the air mattress on it? I did and I buy ten air mattresses at a time and have on hand if one goes bad. I will not buy regular mattress.
That sounds like a great idea for something long term!! I only bring my air mattresses out for overnight guests which isnt very often so a metal frame wouldn't work for me since I'd have no place to store it. But that's definitely an awesome idea!
@@PennieDeeStudio Actually, the metal frame folds. Also, 3 screws and it is apart and storable if you don't want to fold it. I think your ideas are very clever!

Great video, I was at my wit's end trying to think of an economic way to accomodate an unexpected guest. Thanks so much, you are very smart.

I can barely sew. I wonder if it's possible to take a zippered cover and some how make them a little smaller from the middle.

I wonder if the straps have reach to fit in the ridges

What do the straps do?
Secure the two separate air mattresses together so they don't move around too much.
