- For this year's Makers Challenge I am stepping out of my comfort zone and trying something completely new in a way. Some of you know I like wire wrapping pendants. Today we take two minerals to combine together and make one or several beautiful pendants. I will say this was a trial-and-error situation in the beginning. As the video continues you will see multiple attempts of seeing what hoped to make and hear the process. I hope you enjoy.
Later this week I will have these posted on my Facebook page available for sell.

💙 the blue ■.
The rods are 💘!
Looks like much fun working with that crystal stuff. Beautiful colors. Very nice pendants.
Thank you for being part of the Maker’s Challenge. To tackle something out of your comfort zone, good on you. I have always been fascinated by Bismuth; its peacock colours, the crystal formations but the fact that it can go from a whiteish solid, to a heated liquid and then , to a solid with beautiful crystals seems magical to me. Well done on preserving to find the best way to create a pendant. I agree that silver wire would look amazing and I look forward to seeing more videos of you perfecting this form of lapidary pendant making. Well done Kurt.
Great job Kurt. Ive always wondered how this was done. Very creative and they turned out great!
That is so fascinating! I want to play around with some myself but haven’t had a chance to. Thanks for sharing and being a part of the most exciting rockhound event on the internet ❤❤❤
That was a very interesting project!
Dude, that was well worth the wait, what a totally killer project. I love how those turned out, your favorite being so cool. It's great how they will each be unique unto themselves, I'm sure that made it constantly interesting to do the whole time. Thanks for sharing this awesome maker's challenge, cheers!
Thank you for taking us along with you as you explore something new.
Thank you for watching
That was a great project for the maker's challenge. It was fun to watch you go through the process to create these beautiful crystal pendants.
Super cool idea! Absolutely loved this. Cheers Kurt 😊
Super cool idea Kurt! That big one is sweet!
Nice to see the progress you have made. Those last pieces are fantastic!
I did. It was a bit easier using a bigger container to just toss in how much you need and melt it all together. I still have a bunch of it that I didn’t use. You can also pour it melted in a deeper tablespoon type container and the crystals grew in a half globe like building blocks. Looked like a cross section of the Death Star 😂. It’s fun to play in.
Nice show of the progression of tha learning curve...double tap!!!!
So cool! I have some bismuth, I am going to have to give that a try!
Very creative
Great idea Kurt. Well done!
Nice! I wouldn’t have thought of this idea in a million years! Thank you Kurt!
Lovely.

This was amazing. A great challenge, I don't know how you thought of it. Well done!
Neither do I lol. But I have been wanting to try and make just bismuth crystals and looked around online a lot to find people only wire wrapping the crystals and thought 🤔💭 I wonder if it’s possible to make them together?
So know I know 😁.
I have a lot of different designs I’m going to be trying over the next few weeks.
@@RockHoundingAdventures I can't wait

It sure was lol
WARNING…Use gloves and apron when working hot BI. Account for spilling, splashing that can cause bad burns.
Also when merging different elements/alloys know what you might get after they merge.
100% Agree 😁. I had both then dog pissed on my gloves 🤦♂️ just before setting up and had apron on.
It’s been working nicely for me. Thanks for watching
@@RockHoundingAdventures 😂😂
You made some interesting pieces!
Awesome! I’ve been wanting to try this! Can you share where you got the metal and any other gear you used? Thanks!
I have a few ideazzz for this one, get ahold of me!!!
Oh cool, send me a email: rock_hounding_adventures@yahoo.com
What would happen if you melted it in a container with a flat side and then placed your pendant to the side. Would the crystals only form on one side?
In believe they would only form on one side. For both sides you’d have to dip the flat side in the bismuth to form on the other side .
Nice Man I like this idea! 🪨🤘
Thanks man
