Просмотров 3,6 тыс.2 месяца назад
For this year's Makers Challenge I am stepping out of my comfort zone and trying something completely new in a way. Some of you know I like wire wrapping pendants. Today we take two minerals to combine together and make one or several beautiful pendants. I will say this was a trial-and-error situation in the beginning. As the video continues you will see multiple attempts of seeing what hoped t...

Damn Kurt!!!!
Thanks
I have a bear canyon cab that needs a good wire wrap like those 🔥
I can do that for you bro.
I’ll send you a message on Facebook
Awesome bro 🍻
Both pendants have been sold.
Hey Kurt you really capture the essence of rock hounding with these posts and the refinement in your video production quality overtime has been cool to watch. I've been crawling all over Mesa & Garfield CO the last couple of weeks looking for interesting rocks, in interesting places and your videos help guide and inspire. Totally appreciated.
Maybe you can make some arrow heads!
Amazing video my brother thank you very much!!
That is a cool idea. Nice Kurt. Now come leave one at the Walmart in somerset ky. Lol
I like your videos, and I usually learn something. Keep them coming!
I agree with your favorite. That one is super cool. Nice finds. Want to see some of the oolite cut and polished. Looks interesting.
✨✨✨✨👍
Interesting concept!
Wow that's some beautiful agatized travertine! It's gorgeous! And your oolitic specimens are phenomenal! And that turritella specimen was a happy accident! Wow! How unusual to find it there! Those are saltwater shells! So what the heck are they doing up there!?! So cool though! Good luck finding more! I have no idea why they are there, but please find some more! Everything was super cool! I love oolites too! They are just amazing! And your favorite piece of travertine from there is phenomenal! Wow! What a show piece! Gorgeous bots and banding and color! Just WOW! Thanks Kurt for showing us the amazing minerals there❣️
I didn't know travertine had such nice banding! nice finds 🍻
What formation is the band of TIN Wildhurseses?

Update: this has been found today
Thats awesome Kurt❣️ Again, wish i was in grand junction! 😀❤
Dang sucks being so far away lol.
Where are you? I plan to be doing this every couple weeks. When passing through city’s on the western slope and when I head to Denver or colorado springs
Pueblo county. Not much here but I know my way around fremont county pretty well
Love this idea
I love how it isn’t the same Colo. river. We often go north out of Cortez….we go north-west. When we say Dolores river, most peopl think we mean the West Dolores. We don’t. We go to Dove Creek, then north. We cross the ( just) Dolores by Slick Rock, the pick it up again after Uravan. We stay on 141 until we hit I-70. This is one of the most beautiful, empty, drives in America. Eggar is farm country, then, in a few miles, the world drops away at Slick Rock. The drive north to Gateway is beautiful red rock canyon. At Grand Junction, we head toward you, then north at Rifle. That far west part of Colorado is seldom seen by outsiders. It’s nice that you show Texas hill country. I have not been, but friends used to live there. Thanks!
I wrote “Egnar”!
Cool I’ll have to do that drive soon. I’m from the texas hill country area.. it’s where all my family and old friends live. The “Lower Colorado River” was named from when Texas was part of Mexico. The name Colorado means colorful so the river was called the Colorful River. When I movers to Colorado I was so confused cause I couldn’t trace the link where the river here connected in Texas 🤣. For Texas I think the best city is Austin by far but the Big Bend and Hill County are the most beautiful areas. Thanks for watching 🤙
Awesome video bud. Would love to hunt there.
Wet.. and no, not a nice shine. Kind of a mat finish.. sorry bro Needs work
Amazing video!! Thanks for sharing!!
Really nice rocks in the and beautiful scenery ❤
Thanks
Wow there is a lot of great material there! It kind of sucks that you are there for the wedding and can't pack out a bunch of rocks with you! But wow that is some gorgeous material! No arrow heads but with all the pretty flint around you, it's easy to forget what you were looking for in the first place! 😆 Thanks Kurt❣️
I took home a decent amount so I’ll clean them up and cut a few for part two to reveal the real beauty. Totally agree about forgetting lol. Thanks for always watching and leaving a detailed comment.
Looks like a lot of great material, good place to take a bag or bucket I'm thinking. Don't feel too bad, I walk off randomly looking for rocks too. I look forward to seeing them cleaned up, thanks for taking us along.
Totally, next time I’ll be back in the late fall for another hunt and I’ll bring a bucket or two 😂. For part two I’ll cut some open. Thanks for watching bro.
Wow the river is really low, Canyon lake is really low also. Kurt Thanks for the video.
Yeah I haven’t seen it full since 2007 but then again I moved out in 2017. I’ll be back in this area late fall for another longer rock hunt. Thank for watching Bob
Wow!
Looks like a great spot, especially since it was so hot. Some of that flint sure is pretty! Looking forward to part 2. 😊
In part two I will cut some of these open to see the real beauty. Thanks for watching
😎👍 Theres cool rock friend ✨✨✨✨✨

This answers my question if borax actually works as a polish.Very cool brother!!
Love all the info in your videos. Just wondering if you can find sapphire in this location?
Your pendants turned out so sparkly and I love the colors. 🙂
I wish you had shown how you neutralized and disposed of the acid afterward.
Pour baking soda in to neutralize then you can pour it out on the ground outside.
I’ll be making a new video soon of this and other methods
