    Thanks Buddy, I have just started carp fishing at 50 years old and between learning to tie knots, rigs and learning all the different varieties of the fishing Gear, it feels pretty overwhelming. Its teaching me patience, it's also exposing the "MR CLUMSY" and the "SPOILT CHILD" who i usually want to conceal from the outside world. I have spent, which feels like a whole day, either tangled up, caught in a tree (float, not me) calling myself abusive names under my breath, throwing my rod and storming off, wanting to jump in lake, Headbutt Trees, the usual relaxing stuff you associate with fishing. But Im still hooked? Good to see you showing mistakes and being human, no different from me, gives the beginner HOPE

      I’m in the same boat! I am just re-learning to fish after 4+ decades! Even when i fished as a child, i never did any of the “work” as my older brothers handled everything and would just hand me the rod after all the setups were completed. So, essentially, I’m starting from scratch and RUclips is my favorite teacher! I read your comment and it sums up my experience and expectations in a way that strikes right to the heart (tho, by now, you’re probably a much better angler)! 🙂

    Very nice demonstration Eric. Here is something we need to tell you is that the extra bushings are for different spools according to the diameter of the hole. Seems that the line spools you were using are better not to use them.

      I also bought this spooler. Its the absolute garbage. The fittings that come with it, ALWAYS fly off. I had hundreds of spoolers over many years and have to say that this one is the absolute worst. Never buying piscifun products again. I have since bought a much better spooler from Plusinno and absolutely love it.

    The diameter of the spool also has a lot to do with how many rotations you get on each spool per crank of the handle. The smaller diameter spool will make moe rotations in one crank than the bigger spool.

    I found that if I didn't either put a wrap of electric tape on the spool, or put a minimal amount of mono on first, the line would spin when it comes under tension, like when reeling in a fish. You'll see

    • @FloBass
      @FloBass  5 лет назад +4

      I always wrap my spinning reel spools with electrical tap. On these Daiwa's they have a rubber insert in the middle that gives the line something to grip on.

    I have been fishing for most of my life but now, at 57, I am learning how to fish. LOL! Not sure if they have made any changes to this in the 6 years since you posted this but I received mine on Saturday along with their Viper X 2000 spinning reel plus a 150 yard spool of 20lbs Power Pro V2. I gave up on those bushing right out of the gate. Since I have never spooled a reel before, this was a dream. Now I just need to get to some water.

  • @KyBudd
    @KyBudd 4 года назад +2

    The little inserts are for spools that have small holes. Spools with 1/2" holes do not need the adapters. Ordered mine today. Not having the line twist going on a spinning reel makes it worth it. Found it on Walmart website for $20.00

  • @roopan1968
    @roopan1968 Год назад

    Piscifun upgraded the spooler and eliminated the spool inserts. It works phenomenally. I have spooled dozens of reels of all sizes and types using spools of all sizes and never had an issue. They have also included an upgrade to reverse the process and remove line from the reel to a spool if you want to save it or if you overfilled the reel a bit.

    fwiw. fill that huge spool with heavy mono half full and tie the braid on with an fg or whatever knot you like. its a waste of expensive braid to have the whole reel spooled when you only use 200 yrds of it. saves half the cost.

      I switched up several reels this year to braid. From what I understand it is essential to start with mono, then spool braid in order to eliminate slipping from the reel. I haven't used braid since Spiderwire in 99'?? So, I assume the information is accurate.

    • @FootballClubDavid_WI_USA
      @FootballClubDavid_WI_USA 5 лет назад

      @@luke8646 Correct if the reel is not braid-ready for spools. If the reel is classified braid-ready you do not need to lay down mono first to prevent slipping.

      This tool definitely isn't necessary to spool up a reel, but it does make the process much more efficient. I also like the line tension you get when it lays the line on the spool. That helps when using braid. It doesn't dig into itself as much when you fight a fish compared to spooling up a reel by hand with out anything providing tension. But overall it just makes it a faster process in my opinion.

    • @billallen7716
      @billallen7716 7 месяцев назад

      Understand that this is not the same as laying your school on the ground or having it on a nail or any other process this tool was designed for one reason and that was to eliminate line twist.
      The reason this tool works is because the spool spins at the same rate or as close to as the spool on the spinning reel spins thereby laying the line down flat and eliminating a twisting motion that would occur in any other way of applying your line to your reel .

  • @dinoharrison5138

    Hey Eric, if you look at the picture From Piscifun (link you provided) the size spool you had problems with is in the picture and they are Not using the bushings. Those are for smaller diameter hole spools. Your problem was that you did not have it tightened down enough. Try that and you will have better success. Thanks Dude! God Bless! ✝

    I think you should have spooled the spinning reel with a mono backing instead of using 500 yards of expensive braid. That would still leave enough braid that you would never see the mono. In addition, attaching braid directly to the spool leaves too much chance for the braid to spin on the spool, even after filling the reel. But then again, the main purpose of the video was to trail the spooling device, which you accomplished.

The ideas great but cheap design build as you can see from the vid. Hope this helps.

  • @stevebenson3024
    @stevebenson3024 5 лет назад +2

    Make it easy for you. Counter clock wise off the line spool. The reel spines clock wise on the reel. Not rocket science. Use backing I only use 50 to 100 yards of line after backing. That's from line counters up.

    • @John-nd7il
      @John-nd7il 4 года назад +1

      Steve Benson it's not one to one unless the spool diameter is the exact same as your reel spool diameter which isn't likely. Also the diameters of both change as line leaves one and the other gains line so there's no way to have the same diameter in practice. The counter clockwise method mitigates twist but can't eliminate it.

      I haven’t seen a difference for a spinning reel with this, but for a baitcaster you want the line to come off the top of the spool.

    The pieces that kept popping off. Thinking a 10-32 or 1/4-20 screw with washers and a nut, would hold them in place. Keep in mind screw would have to be proper length. Should be able to find one in right length at hardware store.

    Worse expenditure I've ever made, as far as fishing gear is concerned. I've used it twice now, once for a spinning reel, the other time for a baitcaster. If you're using a standard reel filler spool, 330 yards or so, this thing is a nightmare! Tangles and snarls galore and the line constantly comes off of the side of the spool instead of spinning. Totally useless, in my opinion.

    I hope as time goes on you can break yourself of saying You Know constantly . Very annoying. Don't feel bad you are not the only one doing it. Really You Know is just a filler, instead of the old "uhhh" that was used. Your video was good and definitely worth watching.

    Reading the instructions is not the American way for the American fisherman. Trial and error is a far better method so that we may buy more stuff; which is the American way!

      Heck yeah! Murica! There's no time to read the instructions when you have a beer in one hand and a shotgun in the other.

    Even after manually getting mine to spin with my hand turning it I can't get it to spin on its own. I start slow like in the video and line just comes off the spool. Is there an adjustment I need to make somewhere to get the clamp to spin the spool better?

    • @FloBass
      @FloBass  3 года назад

      There's no adjustment. You just have to find the right cadence. There's a point in this long ridiculous video where you see me find that cadence. Then you just lock in and don't try and spin it any faster.

      @@FloBass I now realize mine was red and using the newer version of the product. I think it had a silver nob that loosened it up slightly. Instead of holding it horizontal, this time I held it vertical and as soon as I reeled it slow it spun for my two reels today with 0 problems. This thing is awesome!
