I was the Karn/Nadu mirror player, and that deck won a box.
Top decking wastescape battlemage at the most opportune moment was sweet to watch
Luis, this was awesome content. I love seeing you play for stakes and it rocks when you are so “into it”. This video was a lot of fun.
At 1:18:41 the opponent could have given their Nightshade Dryad first strike and would have won that combat. Surprised LSV didn’t mention that.
I’m pleased to see a bit more MH3 before Bloomburrow arrives.
bloomburrow looks like *THE* set to draft, none of the past few standard sets have looked half as interesting and i liked thunder canyon
I have encountered at least three different types of "good game".
1st. "The classic": GG -> concedes
2nd. "The tilt": GGs in response to you turning a corner/stabilising. Continues to play.
3rd. "The enthusiast". GGs half-day into a long fun game where the boardstate is complicated and dynamic and both get to play magic.
I feel like dreamtide whale would’ve been solid here with half a dozen creatures that give or receive counters (also very funny how it picks up trample from oozewagg)
Love to see MH3 content, hope to see more uploads of LSV doing these box challenges because seeing him work on these puzzles is so interesting and teaches me a lot!

I HAVE to confess. If i was at game 7 and i saw that it was you in particular, I WOULD NOT MISS MY CHANCE TO SAY GOOD GAME. Like I would be in the wrong of how it's being used. But if it was live I'd wanna express gratitude for a good time and this is not the right way to do it when online. It's kinda nonsense, i know. But will i really ever get another chance to say it? If they're a fan, I'd understand why they say it when the game feels tight and exciting. Like they love the tension of the moment.
I wouldn't do it twice though.
I use "Nice!" to compliment good gameplay, because "Good Game." Is culturally linked to ending a game.
Although "Yeehaw" is fun when my opponent is going off too :P
Yeah, gg in competitive settings usually always means you’re conceding.

I'm surprised party thrasher didn't make the cut.
(20:50) Sacrificing a pair of 2/3 spawns (with the potential to evolve to 3/4s the next turn) just to kill (bounce) a 1/1 flying token looked like a prime example of Kicker Value Syndrome to me -- It seemed like there was NO consideration for "What does the board look like if I cast Battlemage with only the green kicker?"... But I dunno, maybe it was correct??
that sealed build made it clear I didn't miss anything by not playing sealed

Kinda surprised LSV never considered white. It had no bombe but the card quality looked good. I prolly would have played green/white splashing Nadu.
23:50 "I could have bounced their petrifying meddler with depth defiler but... that doesn't seem super useful." It removes their only good blocker when they're at 8 facing down 6 attackers and playing the 3/5 bumps your 3/4 and 1/2 into a 4/5 and 2/3, making it so all your attacks are good (they have to triple chump your 4 power attackers) and you put them to 2. It was surprising to not see it get played, as that turn just goes so much better for you if you do. It does play slightly more into a wrath but it also draws 2 and discards 1, so it's not a bad exchange either way, and wrath of the skies wouldn't even save them unless they could get to 7 energy somehow with 6 lands in play. I'm not even sure there is a wrath in the format that punishes you, as toxic deluge wouldn't work either.
Also, and I didn't even know this when I typed everything above: it restricts their outs with cards like Scurry by not leaving any creatures on board. You ultimately didn't get punished, but it easily could have gone another way. I know it's annoying to be the guy who critiques the pro who's way better than them at magic, but I've always had a problem with questioning my teachers, and I definitely consider LSV a teacher.

@@ethangilworth7891 Nah I think the play before that where we sac'd two evolving spawns to kick Battlemage to kill a 1/1 flyer was even worse. Magic is really complex, even the best players of all time misplay on a regular basis.

Could have been very different if instead of legion leadership on the Wumpus opponent 3 of box 2 cast it on the Dryad. First strike + deathtouch is enough and if you had a counter to their trick they were dead the way they blocked anyway. That way they beat a pump spell essntially.
3 boxes for $150 of entry fees is kinda nuts, seeing as they retail for $230 each and wizards promised a $250 compensation if they for whatever reason can’t provide them

It also drives me crazy when someone says Good Game only when they think they are % 100 to win .
I think it's hilarious because it has to feel really fucking bad for them when they still lose. Had someone do a preemptive GG against me the other day when I was play Death's Shadow. They were hot shit until I dropped a Necropotence, drew 6 cards, and played multiple 12/12s.

I will GG and play another turn before scooping if I'm curious to know what's on top of my deck or to let my opponent get their quests in. Or my opponent is playing a combo deck that doesn't get to combo off because people scoop to it. Sometimes you have an opportunity to quintuple block the 57/57 trample with your 1/1s and people need those creature kills. 😄
But most of the time when people GG and keep playing is when they're ahead.
What if they are just saying it is a good game?
Getting "Good game" and then the guy keeps grinding for 5 turns just tilts me into stratosphere :D
