He was not the original singer of the song. He has sung the parts of both the female lead singer and the high-pitched chorus. He has added some vocalisation runs of his own in a couple of places and sung in a language he obviously does not speak (he misheard a lot of the words). That takes a lot of confidence!

Am a Tamilian .. and ended up listening to Martha version of this in Mumbai .. such a great Composition.. Loved the OG version .. and then this video of Sid came up like 7 months back or something.. Legit best cover ever .. people started calling me apasara Ali cuz I couldn’t stop Singing his version everywhere .. so powerful .. wish he does Adele cover of All I ask or To be loved .. Am sure he can do it .. thanks for this guys

When the composition and the voice is good, you don’t need anything.
As someone trained in Indian classical music, I think his training in this area over the years is where a lot of his skills come from. Classical songs are structured such that when you train you learn to be on pitch at all times. They also are split into three segments typically ( Pallavi, Anu palavi , Charanam) with you having to go back to the beginning (Pallavi) after you sing each segment. So you will transition between different notes, tunes & pitches while training. Am pretty sure that plays a huge role along with of course his gifted voice.

It's amazing that he could sing in more than 6 languages! I would attribute it to probably the melody and musical characteristics that's inherent in Tamil! I'm saying this purely based on observations. Malayalis are basically Tamil! The other language speakers who make good melody singers are Bengalis.
