That's a good looking Grand Marquis, no doubt. I love the old box Panthers. I actually have a Crown Victoria LX of that same year. But even with the top trim of the Ford, the Merc is still slightly more luxurious in comparison. Both are tough beasts.
It might still be! Gonna revive it (again) this summer. Going for that all important inspection sticker. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great day!
I always liked the silver gauges on the Mercury versus the conventional Ford gauges, particularly how they were backlit and numbers glowed. The Grand Marquis was the much better-looking cousin to the Crown Victoria that came to visit occasionally and got all the boys hot and bothered.
I totally agree. The green backlighting in the gauges looks really cool at night. The Grand Marquis seemed to be a step up in luxury from the Crown Victoria: somewhere between that and the Town Car. Thanks for checking out my car and my channel and thanks for commenting. Have a great day.
@@oldsledpurgatory3595 Especially in the later years, there really was not much difference in luxury level between the LTD and GM except that Ford produced more base model LTDs than GMs and I think the GMs had more standard equipment. You could option out a Crown Vic to the exact same level as a GM. I don't think Mercury had any exclusive features for the GM that weren't available on the Crown Vic. Differences were mostly styling (like the gauges). In some years even the upholstery was the same (leather option).
That's why I hated to see a stripped down Buick LeSabre but a Caprice that was as nice as a Sedan DeVille. GM was very complicated in that respect. I think they got too big.
I'm looking for the same car, wish me luck, I want one too! 😂
Keep looking, you;ll find one. Ford made about a gazillion of these things. You in the US?
Yes, New York.
@@lawrencesimmons3798 You might have to travel south to find a nice clean one, but they're out there.

Thanks! Glad you dig it. One of the few cars in the world that actually looks half decent in brown.
@@oldsledpurgatory3595 True, as I know my father once had the same car as mine but in that same exact color as yours, from childhood.
Parabéns pelo carro maravilhoso 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
I'm reminded of the old Frankenstein movie " Its Alive!" Lol.
