I agree. "The Continental Kit" is a silly name, too. I don't think you would've seen too many cars "on the Continent" with that ghastly contraption on the back.
I love this car. Grew up in Mexico, and in the 80s - early 90s, this car was marketed as the Ford Grand Marquis. It was a status symbol - the car of the elite! By 1992, imports were again permitted and more luxurious cars entered the market. But, if you grew up like me in the 80s-90s, this was it! Wish I had the space!
I don’t even know how long I’ve been following you now. Years! Have Always enjoyed you bringing us these classic low mileage cars. Back in the day I remember how popular these were. I had a few of these panther body styles myself when I was in my 20’s and always impressed at the ride, quiet, and handling!
I love your videos Anthony. These GM B Body and Ford Panther platform cars have been forgotten by so many. These things were everywhere when I was growing up. They always felt so “substantial” when I rode in them, floating down the boulevard or interstate with those long hoods bobbing up and down over the bumps. We never had one of these cars but many of my friends families did. Those emissions choked V8s had ridiculously low HP but they always had enough low end grunt to get you moving, smoothly and quietly. Sounds stupid but I always loved the roar of those big belt driven engine fans. Still do. A characteristic not found on modern front drive or AWD cars. Also, nothing can replace that full size body on frame ride. Something that today’s car buyers will never know. So please keep those videos coming of those old survivor Caddies, Buicks, Oldses, Pontiacs, Chevys, and Ford Lincoln Mercuries. Every time I see one of your videos it takes me back to when I was about 12 yrs old and really started getting into and appreciating well built cars. Closest thing to a time machine that I can find. Thank you.
i picked up a 96 marquis last month, here in Michigan I will be spending my free time doing my own restoration, you and your pop have been a real inspiration to me...keep up the great content
Another great video guys love those old Mercury’s but I live for those old caddy coups videos and when I retire in 8 more years I will be buying one from you guys. Thanks so much for your hard work and transparency..
Grandma-Key! OMG, especially with the Northeastern accent, it just says it right there. This is grandma's car. My grandma drove an '85 from 1995-2003. Something I also love about the old luxo boats is the cigarette lighters in both doors in the rear, those really come in handy today for charging and powering Phones, tablets, GPS's etc. What a nice example. That interior is fantastic. I love the gauge cluster.
Love your stuff. Love your presentation, love you left all the little grandma's papers in etc. Love the Ford/Merc/Lincs, wish i could spend that dough.
Had a 89 crown Vic LTD I bought in 2007. I love that car. It was black with black vinyl in the chrome package with the royal blue interior. I wish I could find a car like that now, but now they're usually both extremes either. They're complete clunkers that need engine and transmission. Swapped with rust damage and dense and dings. Bubba and college kids have ripped out the system and rewired everything. It's all ghetto trashed or the other end of the spectrum. They're completely all original, low miles, well kept and they're like $30,000 which is like double the price that they were brand new.
Beautiful Mercury!! If I still were a rich man I would already have it on the way home to me! Hey Papa Bear and Anthony love the videos! Sometimes I watch them two or three times. I am a car addict. Love all of them! Sometimes show momma Bear and Anthony’s family also please just for grins and make them famous too. 😂
FYI... The rubber molding around the doors and drying out, Wipe down with a very very very thin layer of Vaseline it will stop the staining. Here's a bit of trivia... how many people remember the ads where they cut a diamond in the back seat of the Marquis?
Oh Anthony gorgeous car. I would take that car over any brand new car on the road now hands down & it would probably last hell of a lot longer most likely if it was in my hands it definitely would. My first car was a 1985 Crown victoria oh I loved that car it was gorgeous. I had it for 6 years until an ass hole tow truck driver towed it from the front & it pretty much bounced for 6 miles to the tow yard. Transmission was destroyed & of course they denied it and I had a witness who saw it being towed like that but didn't want to be involved. So I had to get rid of it 😔😡 but would love to have another panther body again
Wow, what a beautiful car with tons of curb appeal. It has the right color and the cloth interior. Not a big fan of conti-kits, they belong in the 50's.
Hey Anthony & Papa Bear, originally I thought you should keep the continental kit but now that I see it I like it better with it gone. Remember Steve McGarrett drove a 68 Park Lane. As always, thanks for sharing another fun video 👍👍🙂
Hi Christopher how are today? Yes Anthony is good with his decisions. It does look beautiful without it. Happy to hear from Christopher. Papa 🐻 & Anthony
Morning we try to find the low mileage older American classics and make them as close to new in their time (year) as absolutely possible. Thank you. Papa bear & Anthony
Another classic American beauty, a real credit to your search, service and valeting regime. Will make a real good car for anyone who likes the old full size vehicles.
Greetings from UAE to the greatest, most honest and reliable sales person Anthony .. we respect you and wish you to continue brings a special cars. I shall wait the next Buick to call you ... Wish you all the best ...
I love these Panther cars. I recently restored an 89 I found that was garage kept for the majority of its life with 15,800 miles. Mine is the LS with all the options in Shadow Blue metallic with the Blue velour seats
This is a wicked cool ride! It was way back in 1991 too. Definitely a fan of these Panther platforms. Great move taking the Continental kit off the back. Never did understand why Mercury offered that...just silly looking. I would recommend replacing that spare tire as well, since it's 30 years old. The rest of the car looks incredible!! Sadly...a little cash poor here...if I wasn't, we'd be talking up a sale for sure! Definitely a great price!!
Love this 1990 Mercury! I have a 1988 Mercury Grand Marquis GS, about the same colour, but with a grey vinyl top. Mine has 364,000 miles, though, so I have no idea if it has any value at this point. It still runs smoothly, but it shows wear -- especially on the paint. I have similar grey velour seats. I like the layout of my dashboard better, and the appearance of the steering-wheel. The radio is about the same. But my cruise control stopped working a long time ago. My hubcaps also require a key, but the clips on the little caps are falling apart. My spare is a narrow whitewall Michelin. I wish I had the money to replace mine with this one. But I am 77 years old, and I struggle to live on $1,187 a month. In Connecticut, in a parking-lot, the entire right side was side-swiped about four years ago -- and there is some surface rust where the paint was scraped off. Where in Massachusetts are you located?
What a nice Grand Marquis! It's a GS but that interior looks like the LS, so I wonder how that happens? Anyway, those were great cars meant for cruising. My Dad had an LS of that vintage, and later on traded it in for another when they were restyled. He really loved those cars...I just wish I would have kept the last one he had, as it only had 38,000 miles when my Mother passed in 2006. I know that the couple who bought it from us are still driving it today! Great cars!
This is an absolutely beautiful car Anthony. It is just a baby Lincoln. Especially, if you bought it loaded. It’s a shame that people just drove them in the ground.
My aunt had about a 82 like this but yellow and the car wouldn't quit running, sure the door locks didn't work and half the windows didn't work and there was rust, but she faithfully drove it back and forth to church in the next town and it just got so old in 2010ish and she purchased a 2003 and owned it for the rest of her life and then they gave her car to one of the brothers after she passed and then gave the 03 to another brother when he passed and as far as I know it still runs, those old maquis never die, the problem with these is that even simple parts are becoming hard to find. Also my aunt also a 70's model maquis that was older when they upgraded when she won a lawsuit because she wanted to.
I know u love the aftermarket grilles, cloth tops and continental kits but I think those are what ruins these beauties. The Conti kits hold dust/dirt/water in every crevice. Nothing cheesier then the caddies that have the cloth strip on top of the door when you open it. Might as well put curb feelers on both sides too...lol. If they were at least only on the roof but hey, to each his own. 💯🇺🇸
I grew up with a 1984 GM, silver with blue vinyl top, and blue leather. If this particular car were a 1989 (I love the older style dashboard), I would have to have it. Beautiful example of a once popular car!
...Anthony...glad you followed your instincts on this " Grandma Key"... the continental kit was absolute overkill for a GS, and speaks to Merrimack's (and a number of other dealers at that time) to "over-gild the lily" ( needlessly overdecorate) their cars to boost their bottom line. Most dealers resisted this temptation, realizing that the bulk of their profits came not from the initial sale; but from maintenance and repairs after the sale.... ...that said, this canvas faux-roadster roof works well by itself to enhance the pewter gray of this GS... ...and being a Texan, we appreciate that premium velour upholstery...no leg burns from scorching leather... ...kudos to the " Grandma" who took such loving care of her "Key"...
Gorgeous creampuff! Looks much better without the kit on the back. I like the maps in the trunk....l still use my old Gulf and Shell station maps and keep them in the glove box.... much more preferable than these newfangled navigation systems.
Great looking Marquis. Love the light gray velour interior. Used to have an 85 Seville with the dark blue Dover cloth - wore like iron. SO glad you removed the Continental kit - the epitome of 80's tacky.
I love these cars think they are some awesome yachts ever been built. I rode in these years ago those seats feels like Laz-Boy. A beautiful car based off the Crown Victoria.
Not only for the elderly! I am a 53-year old Dutchman. I wish modern cars would have buttons or turn knobs for basic functions like heating! Now it is all included in an infotainment system, often voice controlled. Pretty annoying to operate in our busy traffic!
anthony, jim again from so.cal. the mercury is also the bomb! a nice straight forward freeway cruiser or turnpike cruiser. love those back east tops on big cars. i would purchase it in a heartbeat! stay well.love your show.
These videos are awesome! As a 63-year-old, can’t tell you how many memories these bring back. If my garage was bigger…..😊😊😊
You’re no wierdo. That’s why we watch your videos, to see beautiful cars presented with passion
About $10K for this creampuff....worth it! I'll be talking at you soon.
Beautiful!! So much nicer without Continental kit on back. What a beauty. Love these gramma cars
You are right
I agree. "The Continental Kit" is a silly name, too. I don't think you would've seen too many cars "on the Continent" with that ghastly contraption on the back.
Lovely
Fabulous. This was my Dads driver for his work. He also had a Town car as well.
These cars were, and are, amazing... The 5.0 is a flawless motor with great power.
I bought a 90 in 99. First car out of college. The GS seats and velour were so comfortable. Wonderful car.
... Good car, yes.... but I hate velour . . . .
I had an '86 with red leather and '87 with gray velour seats. Both wonderful cars, but the velour one was a little quieter.
Removing the continental kit really helped to clean up the Grand Marquis appearance. Beautiful car!
I don’t even know how long I’ve been following you now. Years! Have Always enjoyed you bringing us these classic low mileage cars. Back in the day I remember how popular these were. I had a few of these panther body styles myself when I was in my 20’s and always impressed at the ride, quiet, and handling!

Morning Thomas thank you anytime we can help give us a call. Good luck with your restoration. Papa 🐻 & Anthony
Fantastic Tone lovely car, glad you took the Continental kit off.
.... It's still got the FAKE Continental star in the rear door quarter windows... which was common from the Tasca operation in Seekonk or R. I..
I was in high school when my parents bought a 1983 Mercury Grand Marquis which liked them since.
Another great video guys love those old Mercury’s but I live for those old caddy coups videos and when I retire in 8 more years I will be buying one from you guys. Thanks so much for your hard work and transparency..

Anthony the car looks outstanding. You and Dad did a wonderful job !
Hello Rich thank you for the compliment. We try to make them look almost as good as they were when they were new. Papa 🐻 & Anthony
If it had clean turbines it would’ve sold already! Same exact color and top as my very first car. Beautiful Anthony!
FYI... The rubber molding around the doors and drying out, Wipe down with a very very very thin layer of Vaseline it will stop the staining. Here's a bit of trivia... how many people remember the ads where they cut a diamond in the back seat of the Marquis?
Perfect...lol...
Love this Merc - she is a beauty!
I had a 87 Town car man these new cars dont compare in comfort and smooth driving abilities.
Oh Anthony gorgeous car. I would take that car over any brand new car on the road now hands down & it would probably last hell of a lot longer most likely if it was in my hands it definitely would. @@paulgozzo9178 I'm doing pretty well, thanks. I always enjoy your videos & I hope that you are doing well, have a great evening!! 👍👍
You guys have The Most Beautiful Cars For Sale Anywhere. Literally Heaven For Me To Watch! Great Great Work!!

Another classic American beauty, a real credit to your search, service and valeting regime. Will make a real good car for anyone who likes the old full size vehicles.
Very nice, I like the rounded corners. Would prefer a vinyl, half/coach roof with opera lamps.
Great colour combination 👍🏼 I voted for the continental kit to stay but it it does look good without it 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Greetings from UAE to the greatest, most honest and reliable sales person Anthony .. we respect you and wish you to continue brings a special cars. I shall wait the next Buick to call you ... Wish you all the best ...
I love these Panther cars. I recently restored an 89 I found that was garage kept for the majority of its life with 15,800 miles. Mine is the LS with all the options in Shadow Blue metallic with the Blue velour seats
Always love this body style. I had a 1985 2 door, Burgundy, burgundy leather, white landau roof. Great car.
Soooo happy you took it off. Looks a lot nicer now.
This is a wicked cool ride! It was way back in 1991 too. Definitely a fan of these Panther platforms. Great move taking the Continental kit off the back. Yay the new and improved Grand Marquis !!!!!! I so don’t miss that kit 😹😹😹😹 the interiors of these cars are superior to the crap we have now
My aunt had about a 82 like this but yellow and the car wouldn't quit running, sure the door locks didn't work and half the windows didn't work and there was rust, but she faithfully drove it back and forth to church in the next town and it just got so old in 2010ish and she purchased a 2003 and owned it for the rest of her life and then they gave her car to one of the brothers after she passed and then gave the 03 to another brother when he passed and as far as I know it still runs, those old maquis never die, the problem with these is that even simple parts are becoming hard to find. I can't believe that price, really! For the quality of the vehicle that is an insane price. I would consider buying any of your cars than any new car!
Continental kit never looked right on these cars...they were never ‘period correct’
This is a great example of the model.
Wow that is a good looking vehicle there, I remember the Continental Kit when you had this vehicle before, but that is another nice find.
Anthony...Very Nice. A clean timeless good looking car, and so much nicer without that Continental kit.
...Anthony...glad you followed your instincts on this " Grandma Key"... the continental kit was absolute overkill for a GS, and speaks to Merrimack's (and a number of other dealers at that time) to "over-gild the lily" ( needlessly overdecorate) their cars to boost their bottom line.

...kudos to the " Grandma" who took such loving care of her "Key"...
These value of clean Panther platform cars is on the rise.
If the customer keeps her clean, they won't lose a dime.
What a beauty!
Yes that's right, I remember this car now. Yes does looks much better without the Continental Kit.
I can't wait till you do a video on a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis LS "Aero-Style model.👍🏽
Just an FYI, Michelin owns UniRoyal now
Gorgeous creampuff! Looks much better without the kit on the back. I like the maps in the trunk....l still use my old Gulf and Shell station maps and keep them in the glove box.... much more preferable than these newfangled navigation systems.
My mother had a 1995 in a bronze brown...beautiful
Panther plataform full body on frame.. Great soft ryde.. Love this cars...
That is an amazing Grand Marquis! It looks so much better without the continental kit (aka 5th wheel)!
Anthony I had this EXACT car. Color and everything. Wish I never got rid of it. I'd buy it again in a second. Alas, a day late or year late.😢
Riding on that nice Panther frame!😀👍
I can’t wait till next video, great entertainment as always Anthony.
Compare how easy this car’s interior is to today’s dashes with LCDs galore. Modern cars are more difficult to learn and operate for elderly.
Not only for the elderly! I am a 53-year old Dutchman. I wish modern cars would have buttons or turn knobs for basic functions like heating! Now it is all included in an infotainment system, often voice controlled. Pretty annoying to operate in our busy traffic!
Nice looking car. I own a 2007 Mercury Marquis and love it
Nice car. Love classics
I really want your channel to grow so I’m going to comment a lot!
Nice piece! You might want to correct the title to 1990, you have it listed as a 1991. Great video!
Nice job on removing the continental kit. Especially replacing the rub strip. Well done.
As always your work is first class. You took it off and looks great. Classic.
This car looks awesome
Beautiful car
Hey Papa Bear!!! Love you guys!!
Hey there pal how are you doing? Papa 🐻 & Anthony
anthony, jim again from so.cal. the mercury is also the bomb! a nice straight forward freeway cruiser or turnpike cruiser. love those back east tops on big cars. i would purchase it in a heartbeat! stay well.love your show.
Absolutely beautiful car.
*Beautiful Grand Marquis* !! *This interior is so perfect* !! #AnthonyGozzo
Another score Anthony . Hello Pa Pa Bear .
Hello Billy how are you? Good to hear from you. Hope all is well. Papa 🐻 & Anthony
Extremely beautiful
I had a 90 white one with the original dealer paperwork and the original protect-o plate. I miss it
Good move taking the continental kit off! Looks great!!
The old Mexican Mafia cars, what a beauty
I liked the kit. Made it something much more unique than a late 80s mercury sedan. I sure hope you're selling the kit with the car at least
Lol, you're getting all hot and bothered by this car 😂 (it's for real like being transported back to 1990 when it was brand new, wow)
These are great cars. It’s not the Mustang 5.0 but moves really well
Thank God that Connie kit came off! :-)
Love that car that body style was the BEST!!!!
I had a 1988. Amazing car
Absolutely gorgeous
I hate them Continental kits; thanks for removing it.Not a fan of that carriage roof either but nice condition at least.
Love Grand Marquis
What a Beauty She looks very CLASSY
Beautiful cruiser!
Love those cars!
Love this car.
1 word GEM...
Beautiful automobile; is the mercury marquis identical mostly identical to the ford crown victoria and later town car?
Nice Car. Great Price
BEAUTY CAR
