Semi Truck Window Tinting!

- The other day we received a call to do window tinting on all the windows of a Peterbuilt Semi Truck! The customer was looking for something on the lighter side of the window film spectrum with great heat rejection. It was agreed upon that 3M Crystalline was the best option for its quality, lifetime warranty, and high infrared heat rejection. What an amazing choice for windshield tinting as well as the other windows! CR60% was used to tint both of the windshields and CR40% was used on all the sides and back. Enjoy this full walk thru of the process!

Best decision ever made by the trucker. These truckers spend their entire day driving in the sun and they’re prone to skin cancer. This tint will block the harmful UV rays.
Absolutely buddy!! You know what you're talking about!! Thanks for watching
Dear Sir, please tell me whats the legal tint in US for a Semi Truck?
Unfortunately any tint is technically illegal but if you do 70% I doubt DOT would ever know
correct
70% is legal
@@artemiocortes8556 also correct but clear glass naturally has a percentage to it. adding a 70% will probably make the number drop just a bit under in the 60s. I suppose if an enforcer really wanted to get on you about it they could, but 70 is so light anyways i doubt they would notice.
@@artemiocortes8556 true but stock windows are 70 so if you ad 70 tint it’s closer to 60 so tonically illegal
According to federal DOT Website, 70% is the limit for semi truck. Only blocking 30% of light is kinda lame
Unfortunately, federal DOT doesn't allow for more than 70% on all semi truck Windows and Illinois is absolutely retarded about enforcing it
What size roll of tint do you use? Would 36” fit
Yes!
Shoutout from TAT Express out of Hutchins, TX
Thanks guys! Awesome channel!
I run 15 all around
Nice
Any issues with DOT?
Hello. How would I set up an appointment? I would like to detour through Illinois on my next route

Yoo wassup
When cutting the back window . Did you guys lower it a bit to get the film tucked in. Or just followed the blade around without leaving extra for tucking .
This was awhile ago but i believe we followed the blade. I dont believe we could tuck into the gasket on this one. Tricky for sure.
I thought front windshield tint was illegal
It is if you have more than 6" Just like as low as the visor would go if you had a window visor in your truck
@@timothydobrynski9028 That's for cars. Semi trucks can tint the whole windshield as long as 70% light is permitted.
3M Is Awesome
Agreed!
Is 35 percent the minimum legal tint that you can put on a semi, across the country?
I believe it is 70%
@@ztechwindowtint it is unfortunately
How much is the CR70 whole roll
You have to be an authorized 3M dealer to carry this film. In addition, price varies on length and height of the film. This film is 3M's top of line film and is very expensive to carry and also difficult to shrink/install. This is why a 3M Crystalline job retails multiple times more expensive than a standard film. Expect to pay between $1000-3000 for a single roll.
@@ztechwindowtint Can i send to china
Great job on this. How did you guys cut the window withe visors?
Thank you! Its tricky but you need to cut what you have access to first. Then, roll down the window slightly to access the top edge without moving the film around.
@@ztechwindowtint thank you
damn
Is it legal to have tinted windows on a semi?
Yes, the legal limit is 70% which is virtually a clear film.
@@ztechwindowtint but at 00:33 it said 40%
You can Google, it's not difficult
da big rig is in da house

Doing anything more than the first 6 inches on the windshield is illegal as fuck. Good luck if you get stopped for a level one DOT inspection at a waystation unless the driver is a steering wheel holder and doesn’t cross state lines ever.
Customers decision but we actually have never heard back from them about anything
@@ztechwindowtint no it’s their own stupidity. Most people wouldn’t admit their own stupidity.
@@timothydobrynski9028 calm the fuck down bro it’s tint
70% is technically illegal yes but I highly doubt any DOT would even notice. They really should change the laws to protect us from the sun
6 inches, and Illinois is one of the worst or was one of the worst for tint enforcement on semi trucks but only if it was registered in Illinois, I know, it's stupid.
