this was wonderful. as someone who wants to go into urban planning, it is stories like these that remind me of how important a well-structured built environment is to the health, happiness, and ability to thrive of others. food deserts are indicative of much larger social problems, ones that i hope to help tackle one day. this was very inspiring, thank you!
This was beautiful. Being from NYC, i can understand these issues. Diving deeper from these issued can be beneficial for the communities. People don’t often think about these problems, however they really effect how successful communities can be. It can affect how newer generations grow up and learn, it can affect their physical and mental health. We all want the best for our kids.
Food dessert is a social issue. She said she would have to walk 24min to get to a grocery store. That's 2miles. Plus why not have them deliver to you. I'm pretty sure pizzas and Chinese food got delivered to you before. These issues is just talking points with no change.
Shes talking about what is in the neighborhood. Whats in her environment. Not everyone has a car in NYC, most people take public transportation. Even then, public transportation in queens is still limited. You dont understand her talking points and i get that u dont think there would be any change. But thats the point of these talks is to possibly spark change, she is voicing her observations so how can she be wrong? You would only understand if you lived there. Not everyone in those communities can afford getting delivery. Try to understand what shes saying before judging
@@lela7930she’s complaining that high quality food retailers and supermarkets won’t invest in colored communities. But she fails to mention high percentage of colored peoples stealing and looting these establishments which is why the reason companies don’t want to invest in those colored communities.
@@peacefulprotester3274 lol there's also a lack of of high quality food in communities of WV and Alabama where there's not a whole lot of people of color. You are trying to make this race related when it's an economic issue. The upper class wants those lower than them to fight against each other instead of realizing that the disparities are the issues.

The whole point she was making that there was no nearby access to affordable healthy food. Is pizza and Chinese healthy? Is delivery affordable?

Of course blame everything and everyone else rather than to look in the mirror.
