Hey Dan, I recently lost my Zero 1s :( and wanted to ask for a recommendation for a replacement. I actually bought the Zero 2s and found that they didn't do the same for me for vocals as the 1s, so now a bit stuck. Should I go ahead and get the 1s again? I kind of miss that magical sound the 1s had with vocals. Thanks!
yeah, I feel like the brightness and the amount of that airy tone was what made the original zero stand out. now that it's gone and traded for the slightly stronger lower register, that magic is gone for me. it's still a great iem though, I just feel like if you're gonna upgrade from the original zero there are other products that can execute this task better
@@Striker-jg9kv from the demos I heard on the channel, moondrop lan sounds quite similar in tuning and it's a bit better at separating the frequencies. the driver might not be better than the zero 2's since i don't know the specifics but I'm really planning on upgrading my zeros to the lans or simgot ew200s
Hey Dan, just wanted to thank you for recommending the Fudu. Got it today and cand put it down. Probably end game for me for some time now, fun engaging punchy bass, almost like cinema type of sound. Sweet mids and vocals, Amazing set. You have become my reference reviewer sir.
I was thinking about getting the QKZxHBB just as a basshead option, but it sounds more like a warm signature than a dry hit like the Zero, which I personally like better.
I don't own any of them, but from your tests I like the Zero2 best of all. HBB has vocals that are muddy. OG Zero is a little too sizzly... Zero2 hits my sensibilities best. To me vocals are the ultimate test of an IEM... but I realize many don't care that much about natural sounding vocals. Listening with Olina SE. Will listen with P5 later tonight.
Will you review Truthear Gate and Kinera wyvern abyss? Amazing work you do for all of us, as someone who is not sure what to get as first iems, now i know i like something similar to Zero 1
Zero 2 has a new driver, but I don't notice much improvement other than the bass is bassier. I genuinely don't know what driver IEM uses and what the specs are but since I already have QKZ HBB and Zero 1, just use both for specialized IEM best for certain music and I don't see Zero:2 can compete for being the middle man if people already own both.
Now the Kahn is just glorious. It loses a tad bit of thickness that the QKZ HBB has, but gains mid details and has 99 percent of the Zero's higher crystalization. The Zero 2 is just muted everywhere. The Kahn somehow has more Slam than the QKZ HBB. Much more satisfying.
Dan, not sure you remember me still, I’ve been out of the hobby for a while. However, I’m back now and I have been binge watching your review series from the last 8 months or so. It’s such a treat, man. Your impressions are perfectly laid out. I, wholeheartedly, agree with your take on how our tastes change depending on the mood we’re in. Also, you have quite an open mind and you’re not pretentious, which is very refreshing, that’s also something I try to bring to the table in the hobby, whenever I can. Cheers, buddy. Keep up the amazing work. I’m thrilled to be back.
I think the Zero 2 takes the place of the HBB QKZ, having listened to both. Zero 2 has much more detail and resolution than the Qkz but not as much as the OG Zero, which wins on overall clarity. I am keeping both Zeros and returning the Qkz.
Those two can't be compared, unless you want to say the Zero2 is HBB x QKZ without the bass. I would take the Zero2 over the original Zero, but I enjoy bass.
The HBB's are such a pleasant set. The Zero 2 is like halfway there. Not a fair comparison with warmth as the focus. I think detail wise the Zero 2 is a step back from the original Zero. But the Zero is just a tad too sterile. But the Zero 2 is less sterile but somehow less detailed and then lacking the warmth that the HBB has? Yeah... hmmm!
In search of the perfect budget IEM , I bought the OG Zero , the Zero 2 , the Moondrop Chu2 , and the KBear KS2 . I wound up keeping the Zero 2's - the Chu2's were 2nd place, sounding a bit like the mighty HBB Khan's but not quite getting there ( at all lol ) imo .
I’m still waiting for my Zero 2 to arrive. I listened to the OG Zero one but since I’m a basshead kinda guy I bought the QKZxHBB instead. Can’t wait to compare it to Zero 2 whenever its gonna arrive.
@@FicoOl8998 finally got to do the A & B test. I found that the Zero2 fits more shallow in my ear canal compared to the QKZ. It also have smaller shell so it doesnt stick out much from my ear. i own and love the zero1 and the zero2, after watching your videos i bought the QKZ HBB, and i absolutely love it. i love both the zero2 and the HBB but i notice that the HBB has way more detail in the mids and lows, there are entire instruments that i dont hear on the zero2's that the HBB presents in a very pleasing way. its fun to go back and forth and discover new stuff on the HBB, both are incredible but the zero2 just feels like its lacking overall detail when you switch between different sets.
Hey Dan, Ive listened to most of your demos. Each IEM on a different browser tab. That way it is easy to A/B with the same track. So far I didnt hear anything that surpasses Timeless in separation and detail except for the very expensive ones. The ones in the price range of Timeless doesnt beat it still. Am I right?
Fantastic comparison! I love your passion for the hobby. I own the Zero 2’s - which are an excellent set. They have made me very curious to try out the original Zeros.
I finally got the Zeros and have had some time with them. They are a great set that leans bright. In my personal opinion I prefer the Zero 2's. They have a much fuller sound with better base while still sounding clear in the treble region. The Zero has very slightly better treble and is also slightly more airy. Both are excellent for the price paid. I would ultimately say if you prefer a more treble focused sound then go with the Zero. If however you prefer a fuller sound then go with the Zero 2's. Hope this helps!
The Khan is my all time favorite but I think the Zero2 sounds interesting. The original Zero just sounds too thin/ anemic for my tastes. Great review Dan, keep up the good work!
