This awesome video after many frustrating hours helped me resolve the issue as to why after replacing the door attenuator it still wasn't locking. This guy is awesome as was the only that explained that the cam had to be lined up in the unlocked position. the other videos didn't explain that part at all and was the missing link for me. All doors are now locking. Thanks mate your a legend!!

I had a similar issue with my 99 AU doors in that the drivers door lock button would occasionally 'bounce' when I locked the door, it would raise about 2mm then relock again. The other day I could not unlock the door at all but was able to get in by holding the key in the open position and reaching back and opening the back door. I then went through all the process of replacing the actuator motor and actuator worm drive in the drivers door twice to be sure. I'm by no means a mechanic but the problem continued and then got to the point where nothing was happening. I was about to replace all the actuators but after seeing that all the other doors were locked, I went to the part in this video where he operated the door lock mechanisms and realised that it was actually the mechanics of the door that needed replacing, not the actuator. I went to pick a part and got one for $25. Pain in the backside but the upshot of it was that after uninstalling and reinstalling the door locking mechanism somewhere between fifteen and twenty times, I can now do it in about 2mins! In any case it was that part of the vid that showed how easy the mechanism should work that made me realise what the problem was. So thanks for the upload.

Great vid mate, just finished repairing mine but ran into trouble with it locking...... turned out to be in the wrong position which forced the spring over onto the journal holding the drive cog in place, a problem that wasn’t covered in another vid I watched 🤬 your vid helped me troubleshoot the problem immediately, cheers for that 👍
(I replaced my motor as well, didn’t want to have to go back in there again, the door skin was pretty much shagged by the previous owner 🤬 ....was a bit fiddley but worth the extra effort. The motors have a habit of dying as well apparently 🙂)

I can't find anything I just changed mine over everything looked sweet from the inside but I had no idea I had to have the car unlocked aswell as the mechanism in unlocked position so will give it another try

is possible to do without taking the latch out, you can unscrew the actuator from the base of the latch and leave the latch and whats attached to it in the door. ya do have to do the job with the actuator hanging out the door, which can be a bit fiddly compared to doing it on a bench, however having done it myself today it is definitely doable

Hi great video thanks so much. If my central looking works with the remote. But when I try to lock the drivers side with the key it doesn’t lock. What could that be ? Thanks again

What about the inside of door handle can you use brake cleaner and then silicone spray to renew these parts? Mine are a bit sticky
