- I came across this "PS5 Slim" (or GS5 Slim - whatever you want to call it. Anything is better than 2.4G Wireless) on TEMU and knew I had to have it... and to be completely honest, it's not awful for ~$30, although it seems to be going for ~$40 now. Let me know what you think!

The Toy Story border is a feature a lot of Game Boy games had when they were played on a Super Game Boy, which is an official cartridge that lets you play Game Boy games on a SNES and some games took advantage of the Super Game Boy like additional voice samples, specal color palletes, and custom borders. A lot of emulators have the ability to utilize those borders.
I got the PS5 myself bro and its clearly something they've tried to market it on, at least in a tiny shaped kind of way but that is where the similarities end. You can't really grumble at the price imo, it is good to have kicking around the house somewhere for children to play on, they would have had better marketing genius in naming it "My First Console" or something like that and aimed it at a very young audience who have a liking for com games but are very young, something they can enjoy abd get used to until they hit the bigger leagues like Xbox Series X or Switch or PS5 or whatever. A learner console so to speak. All in all for the price, the games upon it and assuming it actually was aimed at a young audience I give it a solid 5 out of 10. Good video btw bro well played it certainly opened my eyes I didn't think these were a thing.

Wish you actually played some of the games from different systems rather than take several minutes to read the names of games and take it apart, which most consumers don’t care about!!

All things considered, these devices might be worth it if one could connect it to a computer, gut the preinstalled software and install something like RetroArch(or your preferred retro emulation software) on it. Especially that slim one. Fits in your pocket, if you are prone to taking trips you could easily pack that along with you and hook it up to the hotel television and play some games. The controller, while not being the best, does have a form factor that mirrors the PS5 controller. So should be comfortable for the gamer on the go(and it's lighter). But I suspect that the device will work with any controller that has a USB connector.
Points off for not being able to emulate a PS1 game at actual PS1 speeds(yes, silent hill runs MUCH faster than that on native hardware, I have the game and actual hardware to run it on so I can confirm that). But I suspect that is because they used a software translator in place of an actual PS1 bios, which is known to cause PS1 emulators to require more resources to run over using a PS1 bios. So after gutting it and installing a better emulator, it might actually be able to play PS1 at PS1 speeds(maybe).
Space is apparently not an issue as when you hovered over the PS1 games, for a split second it said there were 60 games(PS1 disks used standard CD-ROM technology with a maximum of 700 MB storage). Though I think much of that is being supplemented by the 64 GB card(which they supplied).
If the software can be gutted and made better, $42 is not a bad price(especially as it comes with controllers, for those that might not already have a controller that could work with this). What Bolivar(the name of the seller shown at 2:55 ) is selling is very illegal. But if they removed all of the games and just set it up to be an emulator that you put your own games on, it could be really nice(would also solve the problem of the random numbers and massive number of duplicates as the end user would be responsible for naming and checking for duplicates).

It's RetroArch run through a frontend called Emulation Station. It's likely RetroPie or a derivative for the OS itself

I grew up in the days where you’d go to a friend’s house and play Atari 2600 until your knees hurt from sitting on the floor. Then a few years later, NES graphics just blew you away with arcade quality games right on your tv. SNES? Next level! PS1? That was like scifi. Just 10 years prior, you were moving pixels around that could be 2 out of 10 colors. Huge leap in technology. I had my Tiger handheld games I’d play in bed well past my bedtime.
This $30 “slim”? Completely amazing. If I had 20,000 games or even 2,000 games as a kid to choose from? We had 5. And they were huge pixels, and you had to imagine two giant pixels were a tank. Without the game title and package art, you’d have no idea what kind of game you were playing.
I can’t even imagine what 40 years from now would look like. Probably some full sim where you plug in to a virtual reality where you can sit in front of a 19” crt tv, and play Atari games until your knees hurt.
Jacob the 2.4 wireless is for the controller. The frequents it used to connect via Bluetooth to the console. It has nothing to do with internet connection in that case. But I get why you would think that with 2.4 g being a internet connection thing aswell. Good video as always thank you

The reason why the names are changed is due to copyright infringement they mess up the names to get these sold and avoid Nintendo and others attacking them for selling their games
Obviously, but they still do namedrop Nintendo at times and the whole thing is nonsensical because you’re still selling Nintendo ROMs with their copyright logos on it even if you try to scrub their name out of the UI lol

There's no name change involved in this product at all. It's a GS5. It stands for game stick. It has nothing to do with the PlayStation or a PS5. No one is trying to be like the other clearly. It's a game stick. It's not a console like the expensive PS5 is. It's exactly what it says it is

The border comes from an accessory for the snes called the super game boy which played gb games and it added borders to some games (like Toy Story for example)

Why are you unhappy with the size? Smaller takes up less space. You just plug this in and forget about it. Like a Fire Stick. It’s there when you want to use it, but it’s not taking up space. I like that. What good is bigger if the majority of it is hollow?

@@jrob0021 Yes, on the front but on the front of the real PS2 the controller also looked WAY to big. On the other sides of the box you can actually see how big it really is when they show the ports of it(if knowing how big an USB or HDMI Port is, it's easy to judge the size)

Toy Story having the Super Game Boy border while being at color (by default) at the same time is nice, some cores are a pain to get them running like that (others are really easy tho).
Toy story is one of the few gb games which have special snes soundtracks instead of gameboy audio.

Yea.. it’s a cheap knock off! But it does have some of the classic game titles along with whatever else they decided throw in there. Also, alot of hacks.. but for 30$ you can beat it really if you’re looking for something to keep your kids occupied for a good two and half days 😂

In 2010, I really discovered emulation with a used HP laptop. I sat with ZSnes open, looking at the ROM list, and thinking "These games costed $60-$100 when I was a kid."

Well, I have ab Xbone and PS4. Move last year under some stress and, being disabled I simply could not do it all or afford to hire, I lost an oringinal Genesis in working order akong with all the games-Sonic, bubsey, and a nintendo with a lot of games so this thing might be fin to have-sometimes you just feel like side-scrolling.
