I had a Flip 3 and 4, got fed up with them breaking and moved to an Ultra 2023 then Pixel 8 Pro and just spent a few weeks with a Pixel Fold. Today I went back to Samsung and the Flip 6 has arrived. I love it. Everything just feels good, solid and well made. Yes you have to use Good Lock to put your apps on the cover screen but that's not too much of a hardship. The widget options Samsung do have for the cover work well and in my eyes are more solid than the Motorola. It's a seriously nice phone, sound is decent, camera seems good, so as long as the screen can hold out I am a happy man! The Buds 3 sound awesome as well :-) and are very comfortable like the Buds 2.
How did ur Z Flip 4 break? I'll have had mine for 2 years this November, and the main 2 issues i have with mine are peeling screen protectors, and overheating. Other than that, mine is still in one piece, but that's probably because i'm quite protective of my device
hi i owned a z flip 3 and in a few months a black ink blob appeared in the right side where the fold was. is the flip 6 better? its worrying spending so much money on something thats probably going to brake
I pre ordered the Flip6 it’s arriving tomorrow which I’m shocked cause I pre ordered late on the 18th and I’m getting it on the 20th. One thing I did like about moto was that “Hot Pink” color. But I went with Mint for the Flip6 I can’t wait to get it!

With all due respect, you didn't mention one of the most important & worthwhile features for a flip phone: The ZFlip's LACK of ability to use the Google Assist HANDS-FREE while closed. (The ZFlip used to do this...until it stopped long ago, with no fix in sight). Conversely, the Razr does this perfectly, making it a truly hands-free device! That alone makes it the only choice!
Another reviewer ignoring that the RAZR has application continuity between opening and closing the phone so you can continue your video, app, etc. Samsung can't do that at all, the front is like a watch, basically nothing special. Plus, the RAZR front screen quality is so much better.
If you install Good Lock, which is made by Samsung, you can in fact do this on Samsung devices. I open Discord on the front screen for a quick reply, it turns into a conversation, i open it the phone and I'm in Discord right away, exactly where I was on the front screen. Works with any app.

Honestly, the main reasons to get a flip phone is the reason why I would go motorola razr. Because if it was solely about better specs on paper than why not just go with a flagship that has far superior hardware and software?

@jihooncha-vs4om mostly everything you use is Chinese made. But I understand where you are coming from. Motorola I don't mind as much as Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo or one plus. Motorola is a subsidiary of a Chinese company but marketed in the US I believe. Not directly from China.

What is the appeal of the front screen when u can do all this on a big screen to get a better experience and more convenient cuz nothing to flip open or close??
As far as these clamshell foldable devices go, I’m a fan of the Razr+ 2024. I’ve had my hands on these (I work retail) and at one point had a Flip 3 for my work device for several months. Love what Sammy did with the Flip this year, but the cover display options out of the box on the Razr+ are great for most regular smartphone users looking to get into a foldable. However, Samsung faithfuls will find it hard to go to a Motorola.
It’s hard. I honestly prefer the Samsungs design and the bright screen, but if I’m gonna buy a folding phone I do want a good external display, and the better battery on the moto is also a pro. Personally I don’t really care about images, they’re both good enough and I prefer actual cameras, and the texture doesn’t matter cus I’ll us a case anyways 🤷🏽🤷🏽🤷🏽
I think the important part of flip phones is the front display as once open they become a basic candy bar user experience. The Moto beats the Flip6 hands down and is one reason I would choose that easily over the Flip. The rest is comparable for a flip phone as performance is not why most people will buy these. I never use ultra wide so 2X zoom would be more useful. As for support, the Moto effectively gets four years running as they upgrade on the yearly cycle of the phone not the Android release date. The icing on the cake is the Moto 512GB/12GB is £150 cheaper and you can buy 3-years free screen replacement for £140 giving peace of mind. Samsung UK does not even give that option which does not inspire me with confidence. Samsung offer some cash off but you get free Pro buds with the Moto. Finally, the non-glass rear panel is a bonus on the Moto meaning no case needed and greater protection. The faster charging Moto may be sweet for some as well. Samsung has a lot of superfine, see the comments, but the Moto is arguably as good or better for many people so worth giving a chance.
I'm happy with my Flip6 so far, got it for $600+ tax with 512gb, so there's just no way the moto beats that value and i don't know how much better the bigger outer display is since the cameras are so intrusive imo. I got $300 for my galaxy S22 so I'm less than $400 deep after tax and a nice case, as you said the value will probably hold very nicely so I know I'll get my money worth when I end up upgrading and sell it for a big chunk.
I would love to see a comparison video showing apps side by side on the cover displays because in my personal use , I genuinely didn't find that much of a difference between the Flip 5 and the Moto 50ultra.
I had the flip 5 and Razr 40. I ended up with the Flip as my primary, because the build quality, especially the hinge, was better on the flip, and the software was horribly buggy on the Moto. For example, if you install a different keyboard on the 40, because you can not increase the stock keyboard size, every time you wake the cover display it crashes. Flip uses different keyboard for inner and outer display so no problem. This year, with the improved spec of the Razr 50, and minimal improvement on the Flip 6, I thought I would try Moto again and ordered the 50. Then Flip 6 came out and the trade in deal was so good I ordered that as well, and just got the Flip 6 Friday. So far, not much change from 5, and some annoyances. Should have my 50 next week so I will see if Moto makes it to be my primary this time.
Can you confirm if it's possible to use GBoard keyboard on either phone, on the external screen? I like gboard for it's multi-lingual support and also swiping.
The biggest problem with Motorola is that they aren’t reliable when it comes to updates. They take forever to update, and they don’t support their phones for very long at all. And nowadays people are holding onto their phones longer, so Motorola needs to step up and support their customers
Note: the screen is only bigger for the cover screen, app drawer and the built-in and tweaked apps. Using a regular app will block the bottom part of the screen because of the camera holes. It's smaller than the galaxy. Not sure why reviewers are not showing us regular app usage on the cover screen. Just check that before you spend $$$
I think the razr is cooler but the better software support the z flip has makes it outright the better device. What i wonder tho is how the screen and screen protector and crease will be after a couple of years on the z flip
For £130 you can buy three-years screen repair on the Moto--a good deal. I am not sure the software on the Flip is better than the Moto especially on the front display. The Moto is cheaper especially the Moto 50 (£350 less than the Flip6).

I think i might give that green 50 ultra a go. I had the z flip 5 it was not bad but that battery was a letdown. I currently have the honor magic v2 which has an amazing battery but sometimes i try to fold like a flip to put it away 😂 so its telling me to get another flip for easy fit into my pocket. Cameras you will always want better to be honest and if you only have one phone its always going to be your best phone. Lets be honest one can change ones phone every 4 months 😆 Nice review my good man

Moto better colours and faster charging - charger included ! , telephoto instead of ultra wide, 512gb base storage cover display is bigger and the phone is cheaper than flip 6, clear winner
ive tried them all my question is has anyone noticed the last 2 years when you check the ebay or other aftermarket places selling these foldables. The z flip seems to always have a smudge, a black dot on the crease, or a bad crease issue from people selling their old version. I dont see that at all from motos phones even last years z flip 5 theres alot that have the same thing from alot of resellers. Same either green smudge or black dot on the screen across the hinge part has anyone else seen this?
i dont mind the 3 OS updates of the moto. quite honestlybi cant see anyone holding 7 years with the flip 6.... if only moto delivered those updates in a timely . they have a poor record of delivering updates , they did a poor job in the end its hard to trust them especially in a phone of this price if they change their update policy and they get more consistent I'm getting the nex razr gen and switch my flip 5. The external screen is just meh and the battery lige is weak....
Yeah, for sure. I think Samsung's history of delivering the patches and updates promptly is just as important (if not more so) to the software update commitment than just the length of time they support the phone for.
If you look at the release schedule of this you will understand how Moto does the OS updates. So you get Android 14 for a year if you buy now, and then Android 15, so in line with the release of the phone rather than the Android updates. Whereas the Flip comes with Android 14 and in a few months will get Android 15 meaning you lose one upgrade very quickly.
I still cant decide which 1 to get. Razor plus or z flip 6. Razor is cheaper that part i like z flip i love samsung. So i really dont know which 1 to get

If you want a phone where both the left and right speakers are the same volume, get the Moto. For some reason the $1,100 Z flip 6 has a left speaker that is much quieter than the right. Speaker fail Sammy...🤦♂️

That's how I see it yeah, but there's definitely real appeal to the Razr, even if it's something that's hard to quantify with any objectivity. It just *feels* nice to hold and use.
Well our lass has z flip 5 so no as she like the fold factor. So yer of course a better ftont screen is good. As you dont have to open the phone as much . Save battery etc. And its smaller etc. Not like massive slab phone nowa days. I will get the pixel 9 pro when it comes out . I have the baby s24 at moment and its not great.

im returning my new 2024 razr plus, it sucks, the camera sucks the hinge is wobbly and horrible, the screen quality is not great and it is super slow it even lags when simply going into the phone setting which is bad

Just got the Razr today, can't even make texts or phone calls. Update: after 24 hours it ended up working again, not sure how or why. Happier with it now but it was pretty frustrating for me out of the box. YMMV

Don't know how the Z Flip having a glass back makes it feel sturdier as it's not. Glass is glass like always and breaks when dropped. Samsungs durability is iffy seeing as they have already halted preorders shipping on the Buds 3 pro already with issues. Samsung has grown stale and complacent seeing as they are the android version of apple now, with worst QA. I opted for the Motorola Razr+ 2024 and it is far and away better than my Z flip 5

I was going to write a paragraph stating all the reasons why the Moto is the clearly inferior phone in EVERY way except the front screen but unlike some other YT'ers you actually named all the reasons without trying to make the gap seem not that bad. Anyway my theory as to why Samsung didn't enlarge the front screen is because they're planning on adding a 3rd camera for next year 2025 which is the year they said they want the flip and fold to compete directly with their flagships if not replace them.

Samsung is more well know an has more money to advertise. No matter what, the Razr looks way better and is the original beast.

Even though the moto is tempting, i went to flip 6 cuz i won't get bored by using it. Moto is nt future proof.
It's better future proof than samsung. 5 os updates will ultimately slow down your phone. 3 updates are sufficient

But the Samsung OS is the best, even better than Pixel Phones or iFruit phones
I think i might give that green 50 ultra a go. I had the z flip 5 it was not bad but that battery was a letdown. I currently have the honor magic v2 which has an amazing battery but sometimes i try to fold like a flip to put it away 😂 so its telling me to get another flip for easy fit into my pocket. Cameras you will always want better to be honest and if you only have one phone its always going to be your best phone. Lets be honest one can change ones phone every 4 months 😆 Nice review my good man
The battery actually last 1 hour longer on video on the motorola. And it charges at half the time the z6. I ordering the motorola razr plus .
I have the standard model Razr 2024 and wouldn't trade it for a Z Flip.
Id imagine if only using the 4 inch display for a day or 2 the battery should last longer.
We need a battery test. For both open and closed use.
i code the z flip, but they HAVE to improve next year for me to choose the 7.

People are gonna choose motorola even after it has a bad screen, super super super bad cameras and really bad os and the worst history for the updates, just because it's cheap. You want to buy it, please go ahead, but don't be in some weird delusion that it's better than Samsung Z flip 6.
Moto better colours and faster charging - charger included ! , telephoto instead of ultra wide, 512gb base storage cover display is bigger and the phone is cheaper than flip 6, clear winner
Updates for 7 years. LOL. The odds of the Z Flip and Razr for that matter, lasting 7 years is laughable.
ive tried them all my question is has anyone noticed the last 2 years when you check the ebay or other aftermarket places selling these foldables. The z flip seems to always have a smudge, a black dot on the crease, or a bad crease issue from people selling their old version. I dont see that at all from motos phones even last years z flip 5 theres alot that have the same thing from alot of resellers. Same either green smudge or black dot on the screen across the hinge part has anyone else seen this?
i dont mind the 3 OS updates of the moto. quite honestlybi cant see anyone holding 7 years with the flip 6....
if only moto delivered those updates in a timely . they have a poor record of delivering updates , they did a poor job in the end its hard to trust them especially in a phone of this price
if they change their update policy and they get more consistent I'm getting the nex razr gen and switch my flip 5. The external screen is just meh and the battery lige is weak....
Yeah, for sure. I think Samsung's history of delivering the patches and updates promptly is just as important (if not more so) to the software update commitment than just the length of time they support the phone for.

Let's be realistic, Android hasn't changed much since 10.
If you look at the release schedule of this you will understand how Moto does the OS updates. So you get Android 14 for a year if you buy now, and then Android 15, so in line with the release of the phone rather than the Android updates. Whereas the Flip comes with Android 14 and in a few months will get Android 15 meaning you lose one upgrade very quickly.
I still cant decide which 1 to get. Razor plus or z flip 6. Razor is cheaper that part i like z flip i love samsung. So i really dont know which 1 to get

I couldn't go back to a motorola phone, maybe this one would be better, but after a while they have always degraded much faster than any other phone for me.

Like I said in the vid - the Z Flip definitely has a sturdier feel to it in the hinge, it's less wobbly, and holds at different angles easier.
Bigger Screen and longger length Motorola Razr Plus is the winner.
Samsung Flip 6 is going down.

If you want a phone where both the left and right speakers are the same volume, get the Moto. For some reason the $1,100 Z flip 6 has a left speaker that is much quieter than the right. Speaker fail Sammy...🤦♂️

That's how I see it yeah, but there's definitely real appeal to the Razr, even if it's something that's hard to quantify with any objectivity. It just *feels* nice to hold and use.
But you take a flip.exactly for a better front screen. For a better camera and inside screen you buy a classic one not a flip
Well our lass has z flip 5 so no as she like the fold factor. So yer of course a better ftont screen is good. As you dont have to open the phone as much . Save battery etc. And its smaller etc. Not like massive slab phone nowa days. I will get the pixel 9 pro when it comes out . I have the baby s24 at moment and its not great.

im returning my new 2024 razr plus, it sucks, the camera sucks the hinge is wobbly and horrible, the screen quality is not great and it is super slow it even lags when simply going into the phone setting which is bad

Motorola is infamous for horrible software os updates. Nothing else needs to be said.
Just got the Razr today, can't even make texts or phone calls. Update: after 24 hours it ended up working again, not sure how or why. Happier with it now but it was pretty frustrating for me out of the box. YMMV

Don't know how the Z Flip having a glass back makes it feel sturdier as it's not. Glass is glass like always and breaks when dropped. Samsungs durability is iffy seeing as they have already halted preorders shipping on the Buds 3 pro already with issues. Samsung has grown stale and complacent seeing as they are the android version of apple now, with worst QA. I opted for the Motorola Razr+ 2024 and it is far and away better than my Z flip 5

@@brianalvarez4345 that's your opinion, I find them vibrant and refreshing. Z flip's colors are pale and boring, they don't stand out in any way from boring as hell smartphone market.

Flip 6 is better than the Razr in every way. Except the price.
I was going to write a paragraph stating all the reasons why the Moto is the clearly inferior phone in EVERY way except the front screen but unlike some other YT'ers you actually named all the reasons without trying to make the gap seem not that bad.
Anyway my theory as to why Samsung didn't enlarge the front screen is because they're planning on adding a 3rd camera for next year 2025 which is the year they said they want the flip and fold to compete directly with their flagships if not replace them.
The razr is the best of the two... no doubts
