It has survived a few drops onto concrete (in a full case) foldables are plenty durable, except maybe sand, and despite it not having the best cameras it takes really good photos. I'm just not a huge fan of Goodlock, but the small display is good for timers, streaming audio, weather, step counts, that sort of thing.

@@txteva that's not so much my concern, it's more that, once it bubbles, you apparently aren't supposed to fold it, or you risk damaging the display. and samsung says you shouldn't take it off or replace it by yourself, but instead go to a Samsung repair location to have it done. otherwise you void warranty I believe. it just seems like it has a lot of potential to damage the screen if you don't closely monitor the bubble-presence, and if you aren't always able to immediately go get it installed at a repair center. Just seems like more anxiety and hassle for me, lol.
@collin.a. I've replaced about 5 of the protector screens (my Mum also has had a Flip3 since 2021, along with myself) and it's no more difficult than a standard screen protector other than remembering to keep it open for the first overnight to let the screen stick properly. If you're considering purchasing a Samsung Galaxy Flip or Fold phone, I strongly suggest you think twice. As a loyal Samsung user, I bought a Galaxy Flip 5 less than a year ago, and it already has two pink lines and a black dot on the screen. After a lot of back-and-forth with customer service, they finally asked me to reset the phone yesterday, Friday, August 9, 2024. Today, I went to the Samsung store at Westfield Stratford, where I was informed that I would need to pay £340 to repair it because of a small dent, which apparently voids my two-year warranty. Given my long relationship with Samsung, I can no longer recommend their Flip or Fold phones. I've been a Samsung user since 2013, starting with the Galaxy Note 3. I still own a Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy Note 9, and a Galaxy S24 Plus, along with a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic and Galaxy Buds Live. I had been considering upgrading to the Galaxy Fold 6, but this experience has completely turned me off Samsung. Even though I’ve been satisfied with their products in the past, I now find their two-year warranty untrustworthy. Goodbye, Samsung. I have photos of the damage that voided my warranty.
That just sounds like buyer's remorse after one unit. And it has nothing to do with the Flip 6. I plan on going into the Flip 6 from an S23 Ultra, knowing I'm downsizing and that this Flip will have quirks. The flexible screen is new tech for every manufacturer, so you have to create a new baseline and invest in a good warranty because you can't really compare it to a classic slab phone. @@JimIBobIJones exactly, they always gloss over that, the idea that they're now giving 7 years of updates on them is ridiculous, as if the screen will last half that time 😂
Most of the pain of moving subjects in samsung cameras has been solved for me by using the motion photo setting in camera app on my 23 ultra. It might be jarring when looking at the image at first as it will be a short video, but the final frame is the post processed image which will be the one shared if you chose to share the file. Most of the times it has also tweaked with the exposure and other settings slightly in the way which I preffered.
Watching this on my flip 6 cover screen, upgraded from flip 3 after it got "banana shaped" from a fall. Fun fact- apps from the cover screen continue when you open the phone.
I've had a Flip3 5G since it's release and I've always loved it! Upgrade to the Flip6 this year because they had finally updated the cameras and I couldn't be happier!
This would be my first flip/foldable phone. I definitely was able to get a $1050 trade-in to offset the cost. It definitely isn't an ambitious phone like Motorola 2024 flip, but I think by constantly following Mr. Mobile on his love for Foldable devices, I can see that there have been a lot of improvements along the way to this 6th generation that is now breaking into the "mainstream" market. And that down the road, Samsung would have better software support for this device Vs Motorola. If I wasn't in the US market, I would probably have more choices... But sadly, I do not. I had always been on the fence with the flip, loved the concept of a smaller phone in my female clothing pockets. But I was always on the fence about it because the technology wasn't completely there yet for me to jump in 2020. But now, I think Samsung has gotten a lot of feedback from the flip, that it is a solid & refined product now.
One important note: I have never accidently dented my Fold 4's inner screen with a finger nail. On my Z Flip6, this happened within a *week.* It doesn't seem very durable in that aspect
Agreed , I had a flip 3 , hinge broke twice in 4 months, and now my colleague has flip 6 , hinge broke in week 1. We both are active people with dogs but we are now using normal shaped phones and are not going back
@@shepardbrostv To be fair, it's pretty manly to rock a super girly phone case and not give a hell what anyone else thinks because you are just THAT secure in your masculinity that it doesn't even put a dent in it.
I just want a big slab phone that can fit in any pocket (comfortably). With good build quality and consistent software updates for a long time. Flip 6 appears to satisfy those criteria.
It's a great phone, but if you live in the UK, just hope you never need to send it back for repair. Samsung's Customer Service is virtually nonexistent.
I upgraded from the Flip 5 to the Flip 6. The improvements, though subtle, are major, and you are correct that it is now essentially a S24 that flips. All Samsung has to do is make the apps native to the cover screen without using Good Lock.
I love my Z Fold 6, but I miss my ability to take low light shots of moving subjects (pets, people, etc.) that I had with my Pixel 8 Pro and iPhone Pro Max. Other than that, it's been great so far!
Amazingly detailed and entertaining, always looking forward to a new video from the channel! I think I will go with the Motorola due to the price point and front screen app access. Thank you for helping me make an informed decision! Great Star Trek reference!!!
I agree. The Samsung Z flip 6 is a matured version. I enjoy using the cover screen. It really works for NFC payments and checking mail, etc. Responding, to mail, messages, not as easy. RUclips is pretty bad on the cover screen. The fact that you can't get Google Assistant (voice command) to work on the cover screen is a big issue. For 100% of all other phones (except z flip...) you can use voice command anytime. The fact that it will not work on the cover is a missed opportunity. IT seems that it could probably be easily fixed....but I'm not holding my breath. I feel much better now that I said this...thank you. By the way, I have been watching your videos since Pocketnow...thank you for producing quality work that helps me make informed choices.
I don't know if my ears were playing tricks or there was a random f bomb, but I found it hilarious and authentically real. Either way, thanks for some of the best and most comprehensive video reviews on RUclips.
I'm so glad I remembered that Motorola revived its Razr... I started researching both, and saw your review on the 2024s as well. Waiting for my purchase to arrive but this review cements my feeling of having made the right choice despite the weaker camera and chips
I don't understand why they don't include faster charging. The phone has two separate batteries by default, to fit its architecture. If each battery charged at 30 Watts, you'd have 60 Watts fast charge. Good for its battery life and your time economy.
What I learned after years of Galaxy Flips is that a potential buyer of a Flip should not consider it as a two-displayed phone, like a Fold or a bit more similar-looking option that is Moto's Razr, and should consider it as a smartphone that happen to has a buffed Galaxy Watch on the outside. Personally, I'm a full time (dumb) watch user. I can't go anywhere without one and I dislike the existence of a smart watch on my wrist, even though I like the convenience of it secretly. So, a phone that happened to has an oversized and overpowered smart watch on its cover should be just the thing I'm looking for. Therefore, I believe that it is time for me to trade-in my iPhone for a Flip that actually has a main camera which can hold up to a certain standard along with a (finally) respectable camera and a built-in smart watch. As always, a great review, Mr Flip. I always love watching your content and the honesty you provide within your content, which is actually succesfully will be leading me to buy something that folds this year. Peace (❁´◡`❁)
I had the Flip 3 and loved it. Then I upgraded to the Flip 5 and even with the larger outer screen, I would go for my 15 pro max as I felt it was stagnant. I just ordered my Flip 6 in Yellow and I cannot wait. I feel It has reached a point to being near perfect. I still also have a razr coming too because...why not !
I am definitely an iPhone guy. Up until recently my daily driver was an iPhone 15 Pro. I do see the benefits of a quality android device. My current daily driver is the Galaxy Z Flip 6. I have to say the pocket size form factor is phenomenal. This year Samsung has gotten a lot right with this upgrade for the Flip 6. The 12 GB of ram and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 are nice improvements. This year's phones feel sturdy and premium build. To be honest, many of the AI features seem like a party trick that will not get a lot of use. The battery life seems to be an improvement over last year. I returned the Flip 4 and 5 because of the subpar battery. So far so good with battery life with my Flip 6 😊.
I remember when I bought an OG Razr unlocked online back in the day thinking that the $300 was expensive.... Also, I've been kinda flip flopping on the Flip6, Razr+ 2024 or holding on for a good deal on either this year's Pixel Fold or OnePlus Open (I dig the idea of being able to carry a tablet in my pocket, so it can actually be used as an e-reader for books and comics - just the prices are wild, especially the Fold6)
I just got a Nothing Watch Pro 2, and I think you would find it interesting. Its RTOS is limited for sure compared to Android Wear or even Samsung's old Tizen-based OS, but the insane battery life enables a whole other workflow. I never have to think about charging it, and together with its IP68 rating, I basically never take it off -- it's just always there. Honestly, it feels more like a modern take on those old Casio watches than whatever the "smart watch" competition has been cooking up. Its compromises might not be your style, but I think you can appreciate what it has going for it.
Thanks for pointing out that sadly shutter lag/motion blur still plagues Samsung devices, after all those years. I mean, I appreciate xyz zoom range, megapixels and AI thingies, but blurry unusable picture of anything with even slight movement (no, Camera assistant does not help, no, one should not use Pro mode for this) should not be acceptable in 2024.
@@derekisthematrix literally everyone else solved shutter lag problem. Using S23U last year, my prehistoric Iphone 6 and friends Pixel 4a had better results when it comes to moving subjects. I have no excuses for Samsung, it has been like that for years on their devices and most of the "honest" reviewers don't even mention it. But I know a lot of people who gave up on Samsung just because of terrible camera.
5:15 And this is why i bought the Razr over the Flip because a simple task like approving 2FA can't be done on the Flip. It defeats the purpose of having a useful secondary display.
For me the discussion starts and stops with Battery life. I’ve had 2 flips now. 3 and 5. Both started showing signs of significant battery degradation at 6 months and then became not reasonably usable at around the 1 year mark. For people who can only upgrade or get a new phone once every few years this is just unacceptable. I know you reported good results here but we’re in an age where day 1 battery results/testing are largely meaningless. They are all mostly fine out of the box.
You’re 100% on the mature part. I’ve had a ton of small annoying issues with my Razr+ cover display that were all related to Motorola’s unrefined software.
@@ashermathew8178 the FLIP 6, yes. Overall it’s a more refined experience. I personally prioritize being up to date with Android releases and the RAZR doesn’t really do that.
@@Unan1mouz mainly just apps either slowing to a crawl or being poorly formatted due to the aspect ratio. The vertical screen mode is quite nice though.
Woo! Mandatory "Queen Mary 2 appearance" celebration comment :D Cool review as always, I really wish I could afford and more importantly justify a Flip 6, but I don't have the kind of "I'll buy it because it's cool" money for a phone 😅
Ill shine a light on the cover screen, it's because Samsung is working with Google and until Android 15 cover screens are severely limited, Android 15 adds in official cover screen support and will allow apps and stuff to run on it outside of an unofficial capacity. Alongside treating the external display much more like a secondary real screen. Part of the contract. You want circle to search and quick security patches etc, you gotta work with google!
Nice video, as always. For my part, I'm done with foldables until they can guarantee that the protective layer will withstand a minimum of temperature changes.
Got my Flip6 today. In comparison to the Razr+ 2024, it's definitely more limiting with the cover screen but feels more mature as a flagship device. Build and hinge quality is impressive too.
I still own and use the flip 5G (from 2020) and I'm still amazed by it, people are still talking about it and want to see and use it. I also have the fold, and by day to day use the flip just wins by a mile. I was so hoping they would solve the 'take photo of moving object' feature.
Your phone reviews are the most fun to watch by far. No competition there. Good work, keep it up! On the phone: I want to get myself one of these eventually, ideally the next generation. I really hope they do make the outer screen more capable by that point. I am not a power user and not a techtuber either, but I still want that feature badly :)
I got this phone and it's the first flip I have but I definitely feel a little jealous of the Razr 50 Ultra, it's beautiful in person and my worry that it was too big in videos basically disappeared once I held it. I do like the build quality of this Flip 6 however and the crafted black back feels great. I hope Samsung finally makes the cover screen bigger in the next Flip and hopefully OneUI 7 will solve much of the software stuff.
The reason I didn't stick with moto flip this year is the hinge is still just bad. I can deal with the cover screen issues. I just want the phone to stay open at whatever angle I leave it at
Watching Mr M after a long time and happy to see that he’s still just as fun as he used to be! Sadly though, the Flip is still a no for me. But glad that the category (foldables) continues to grow.
Great video. I really liked the video. It is a piece of art your video. I always find your video's different. Today I got together with a friend, He made this joint. Do happened to drink alcohol before start writing a voice over script? Some how I enjoyed more of the video, when i was high. 😂
I considered both the Flip 6 and Razr+ for my first foldable and ultimately chose the Flip due to: cameras, availability of 516GB, and better trade in value from a prior Samsung device. Although I liked the Razr+ cover screen more, I'm used to OneUI by now and wanted more storage.

Mr. Mobile making the best foldable reviews, as usual
Watching this on my flip 6 cover screen, upgraded from flip 3 after it got "banana shaped" from a fall.
Fun fact- apps from the cover screen continue when you open the phone.
As an Italian speaker, thank you for saying meraviglia correctly. Every time someone says Mike birbiglia's name, I die a little inside
Captain Two Phones. Still my favorite channel for device reviews. Guess we may have to start calling you Captain / Mr. Two Folds soon.
I always love the Trek shout outs! Keep em' coming!
That intro ending with the folding Benji…..*chefs kiss*
ThE most thoughtful review of the 6 with accurate opinions regarding it's accomplishments
Gsmarena poorly reviewed this phone. Happy to see your review Mr. Mobile! Glad I made the right choice after all 😊
One important note:
I have never accidently dented my Fold 4's inner screen with a finger nail.
On my Z Flip6, this happened within a *week.*
It doesn't seem very durable in that aspect
Agreed , I had a flip 3 , hinge broke twice in 4 months, and now my colleague has flip 6 , hinge broke in week 1. We both are active people with dogs but we are now using normal shaped phones and are not going back
I really want to like the flip case with LED's, but it looks like something a 12 year old girl would have in a pixar movie
And now a grown man 😤
@@shepardbrostv To be fair, it's pretty manly to rock a super girly phone case and not give a hell what anyone else thinks because you are just THAT secure in your masculinity that it doesn't even put a dent in it.
@@Freak80MC that's probably why I've always dug carrying around a pink phone
so it's awesome? yea
I just want a big slab phone that can fit in any pocket (comfortably). With good build quality and consistent software updates for a long time. Flip 6 appears to satisfy those criteria.
Thank you! Interesting to see how the Flip 7,8,9 & 10 will look in the years to come!
11:55 i smell a oneplus open apex edition review coming
Man do I ever appreciate that reverse video at rhe beginning - so slick
It's a great phone, but if you live in the UK, just hope you never need to send it back for repair. Samsung's Customer Service is virtually nonexistent.
I'm glad to hear you were in Mexico City, I hope you liked it.
2:32 how did you access and control the brightness like that?
I upgraded from the Flip 5 to the Flip 6. The improvements, though subtle, are major, and you are correct that it is now essentially a S24 that flips. All Samsung has to do is make the apps native to the cover screen without using Good Lock.
I love my Z Fold 6, but I miss my ability to take low light shots of moving subjects (pets, people, etc.) that I had with my Pixel 8 Pro and iPhone Pro Max. Other than that, it's been great so far!
You're Mr. Foldable, and that's why I'm here. Thank you for your insights, let's keep those competing mobile producers humble (:
Amazingly detailed and entertaining, always looking forward to a new video from the channel! I think I will go with the Motorola due to the price point and front screen app access. Thank you for helping me make an informed decision! Great Star Trek reference!!!
Mr. Mobile you should run the RAZR minus regularly as most folks will buy that!
do you write your own script ? The narration is just wonderful
They don't want to risk another Note 7 edge situation
Great introduction, have not tried it. Nice to see you're back, hope you feel much better.
I'm still in love with the Razor, but that hinge!
the goat of all tech reviewers!
Switched from my Iphone 12 to the Flip 6 and I flipping love it!
first, also nice to see him review a foldable again he is always so passionate about them
Video hasn't even started. SMH.
Another great Video. I Just got a Samsung S24plus because I love Samsung.
I gotta say this is a well put together review also I have that same flipsuit case it's absolutely awesome 😍
Best tech reviews on youtube.
They didn't have everyone's Google Photos libraries to train their camera AI on. (Grudgingly a Pixel user here because of the great camera).
I want to want this enough for the price but I love customization so much I hate that they limit stuff like the front screen
Love the music Mr. Foldable 😊
Exercelent video from you like always.
You’re 100% on the mature part. I’ve had a ton of small annoying issues with my Razr+ cover display that were all related to Motorola’s unrefined software.
So you prefer the Fold 6?
@@ashermathew8178 the FLIP 6, yes. Overall it’s a more refined experience. I personally prioritize being up to date with Android releases and the RAZR doesn’t really do that.
Such as?
@@Unan1mouz mainly just apps either slowing to a crawl or being poorly formatted due to the aspect ratio. The vertical screen mode is quite nice though.
Woo! Mandatory "Queen Mary 2 appearance" celebration comment :D Cool review as always, I really wish I could afford and more importantly justify a Flip 6, but I don't have the kind of "I'll buy it because it's cool" money for a phone 😅
Love the idea of owning a flip phone but I really dont like Samsung's UI.
Hoping Google or Apple make one soon.
Nice review as always! Btw, it would be nice to see Mr. Mobile(or Mr. Fischer) Q&A video.
Mr Foldable is my spirit animal
Mr. Foldable delivers another good video, all normal.
Content: Excellent! Flip 6: NOT so! Certainly not for a "1st Foldable"!! Thanks Michael, decision made 😊 See you on the Flip-side 😉
Got my Flip6 today. In comparison to the Razr+ 2024, it's definitely more limiting with the cover screen but feels more mature as a flagship device. Build and hinge quality is impressive too.
Hey bro your reviews are so good, nice to meet you, I'm from Brazil 🇧🇷😊
I still own and use the flip 5G (from 2020) and I'm still amazed by it, people are still talking about it and want to see and use it. I also have the fold, and by day to day use the flip just wins by a mile. I was so hoping they would solve the 'take photo of moving object' feature.
Your reviews are better than mkbhd’s. Just my humble opinion.
I actually like the Flip 6, I’m disappointed that Motorola didn’t make a 512GB version but my flips battery has been impressive
LGR spotted!
Also I hope your kitties are doing great nowadays! ^^
Glad I went with the Moto Ultra+ over this PoS. Was all thanks to your review to boot
That LED case looks FUN!
They really need to step up their game next year. This outer screen doesn’t cut it.
Went with the razr+ 2024 and the cover screen is worth the $200 less price tag! Also... The crease looks better on the razr than flip
Man your videos are a vibe!
The reason I didn't stick with moto flip this year is the hinge is still just bad. I can deal with the cover screen issues. I just want the phone to stay open at whatever angle I leave it at
I have the 6 and absolutely love it!
Something really happened after that.
It felt weird, so I tried to get distracted and I opened my phone, and i got a notification from you.
I got question.
Do happened to drink alcohol before start writing a voice over script?
Some how I enjoyed more of the video, when i was high. 😂
Everyone i know with a flip series phone have so many problems with them its not worth the headache
I went the RAZR+, my first foldable. So far do good!
I know this is personal preference, but i use the zoom lens so much more than the ultrawide.
Same here. I think Moto did their research and zoom demand>ultra-wide.
Sailed on that MSC ship 3 times. Fantastic ship.
