I was there Bco 6-101st Pachyderms 2012-2013. The tan CH47 tail 722 in the video is one that I flew. Crazy to see all these years later. I’ll never forget it.
Corey Jones seems to be the common theme... hence the reason I’m still contracting, not ready to give it up. Everybody gives a part of themselves to these locations.
Was there in 2013 as a mech for Columbia Helicopters. Shrapnel city for sure. Moved to Bagram after that. I miss the real out there outpost feel that Shank gave. The rules in Bagram were a real pain in the ass after awhile.
This was home back in 2010. Mortar and rocket fire were so often you could tell the time just by when you were getting attacked. You used to wait for the inevitable "INCOMING, INCOMING, INCOMING" alarm just so your chow wouldn't be interrupted when you went to go eat. Good times.
I was there was 2013-2014! I think about my time there often. I developed so many close relationships there. Spent countless hours in the bunkers by the big tent chow hall! And I still think of how cool Shams Walmart was for never running out of smokes.
@@TragicHero257 it wasn’t a real Walmart, it has just a little shop, but the name of the shop was “Shams Walmart”. It was closer to the side of the base most of the ANA were living at.
Holy shit, brought back memories. I was there most of 2013, C co 1-501st attached to 101st TF then later, 10th mountain. May have heard our call sign, Angry and then later switched to Pitch Black. We ended up moving our flight line to the airfield on the south of the fob after a bunch of accurate IDF around our tents and CP. Place was nuts.
Was there in 2012, will never forget

TragicHero257 literally everyone’s story I have talked too. Bad Spot and it’s still a hot area today!
I second this from 2012-13. Went back in the second half of 2014 and they finally had C-RAM and that made a pretty big difference.
