I have a Riley 74 that has a very similar wear pattern on the bolt after 400 rounds. It gets some hard to clear failures to feed when the the gun is hot and I'm hoping it's just the lacquer coated ammo. Got a set of head space gauges on the way just to be safe.

Klay- with the sudden increase speed of suppressor approvals, have picked up no less than SIX cans in the last 3 weeks! ;-) One is a Wolverine- up until now I have many AKs, but no shorty AKs, so now researching best options. In your opinion, what would be a good short barreled Ak for a dedicated HD SBR build? I am leaning towards the Zastava M92, but also looking at Sam7k, Draco, PSA krink etc. Thanks for your advice!

You should try a Rearden Blyat muzzle brake and an atlas with the Putnik.
Did Cody use a field gauge on the bolt? Also did you take the hump out of the ALG trigger so it doesn’t damage the back of bolt carrier

@Klayco47 I have a question for you I own a Zastava M70 Zpap I am getting terrible accuracy with it. I dabble in casting for my firearms so i decided to do a chamber casting on it. To determine what i should size my projectiles to. At any rate what the chamber casting showed me was kinda off putting. I found out that the bore on this rifle is .314 and the chamber looks to be euro spec. All my knowledge tells me this is the reason I’m getting terrible accuracy with fmj. Trying to find good info on this subject is very difficult. Any fmj I have taken apart and measured has all been .310. Im at a cross roads with this rifle I bought it privately so Zastava refuses to help me fix it without paying them more money. If you could shine some light on the correct bore for 7.62x39 that would really help me out.

So I have a jp enterprise recoil eliminator on my galil ace 8” in 7.62x 39 and I think it’s about the same as this 2 port jmac brake
O, man. "You want me to fix that?" LOL. I also resurface my ALG hammer faces per your recommendation and I've had great luck and smooth operation forever. They do need to be level so the carrier doesn't lean but I might have let Cody fix it if he thought it was in need. Lol.

Yeah it’s because the Riley safety selector cuts are shallow and in the middle of the receiver when they should be lower down.

Trick it out more before that match you are talking about entering. I would love to see it tamed with the KNS piston. Also, are there any companies you know of with carbon fiber parts for AK's, maybe a handguard, grip or folding stock??

What were you using to spray down the bolt?
I typically do not get to the point of needing to replace parts on my firearms, that being said, arent you able to replace the Riley bolt with a WASR bolt and rectify some of the damage to the bolt? Or am I wrong and it would ruin headspacing?
That being said, if you are just able to slap a new bolt in the gun, then it would still be cheaper than most other AK options.
Or just get a draco and stop buying junk to begin with

Hey, at 23:45 you safety is walking up on the receiver. Not sure if that’s normal, but just noticed it.
Riley puts their safety selector cut higher up for some reason.
is the putnik better in any way than the wolverine or is it just the new hotness and something different?
It's shorter, lighter, and is flow through, so it kills recoil. That's a big deal in my opinion.

You should get into reloading. I recently started reloading 300blk because I was tired of cost of 300blk sub sonics. It's really not difficult. If you can find a source of x39 brass it shouldn't be too difficult to develop a subsonic x39 round.
You can use .303 British for the projectile. I personally just pull apart my steel case 124grn, dump put the powder and add back 13.4grns then re seat the bullet. Works awesome on my 104 clone 12.5" barrel. No adjustable gas system. I tried the same load on a bone stock, 16" AK and it wouldn't fully cycle. Was damn close but quite. I haven't figured a load for that gun yet. Mostly because I just don't shoot it suppressed enough to care.
Actually it might be 14.3 grains. I can't remember. I'll have to look in my notes when I get home

Klay, I was looking forward to the continuation of this series. I'm not an AK guy, so I dont really have dog in the hunt regarding U.S. vs overseas manufacture of AKs. As I've mentioned before I have one AK'esque rifle, and it's an IWI 5.56 Gen 1 Ace modified to R-N-L by Dissident Arms. Its a nice rifle. IMHO, as long as a rifle is 'combat accurate' and goes bang when you pull the trigger, its a good gun. I think the 'Riley Krink' meets that criteria. Most firearms require a 'break-in' period, I usually put a minimum of 200 rounds through any firearm I plan to carry. If my memory is correct, youve had one FTFEED and that was with some questionable ammo and magazine. It looks like the first 505 rounds got all the moving parts seated-in correctly. The video made me check a few of my guns for metal movement and deformation. Guess what? They all exhibit some deformation. Its the nature of hardened steel when slammed with force against another piece of steel to deform a little. Keep up the good work! Thanks!

I have an unfired RAK-74, first thing out of the box, I noticed was how gritty it was to manually cycle the rifle. It was so rough, the bolt would catch and stop on the hammer face.
First thing I did was install an AKT-UL Ive been sitting on for years and an ALG AKrecoil spring.
Super noticeable difference when manually cycling the rifle! Can't wait to get it out to the range

the Bulgy plum grips handguard set wont fit w/o ext. mods. they told me at riley no problem. b.s. and also 3 diff mags not lock in polish, bulgy waffle, and serbian, and krink booster original old style factory does not lock in either. tried 3 different. pin lock up and threads for tight fit{serb,russian,Bulgy don't work.and one u.s.a. model. oh yeah have had every model of AK for 50 years.full autos and semi's so know what i am doing..However guess what fits, the serb. 60 rd mag. THIS ONE is. strange.won't be a zombie apoc gun for me.UNLESS WITH A SACK OF MAGPUL MAGS HA HA thanks for adding more vids.

Glad to see this is holding up. AK bolts get weird. My SLR 106 which was basically brand new when i got it. By 500 rounds bolt looked really worn. A couple thousand later bolts basically in the white but material isnt moving. Conversely the SLR104 i traded for the 106, took 20k for the bolt to look similar. The AMD65 thats been in mine and a friends hands since we were kids and has god knows how many rounds through it still has finish.
Another thing is American steel isnt the same as combloc countries were using. The wear patterns are going to be different from an import AK. As long as you arent closing on a field gauge send it. It's not even unusual for AKs to close on a no-go and be fine. The field gauge is the real important once that will tell you if headspace is fucked.
