    Morning Jessica from a very cold West Wales; I have watched countless videos over the last week on how to make a lined box pouch . Finally last night after combining a few different methods I arrived at making a pouch like yours , with the corners boxed separately ; however I was sewing straight across the zip then opening the ends, easy to do but quite fussy. Then late last night I stumbled across this video and it was truly a light bulb moment wher you don’t sew across the zip until the corners are sewn. Thank you for organising my thought processes for me and simplifying the whole process. Diolch yn fawr, thank you very much.

    Countless…. I’ve watched COUNTLESS tutorials in the last week on how to make these bags and I haven’t sat down to give it a go because I’m so intimidated by the zipper (haven’t sewn one yet) and also wanted to find a boxy bag with no raw edges on the inside but also not have to use twill tape or something similar… you hit every single nail on the head. THANK YOU SOOO SO SO VERY MUCH for this. 💕

      I got hundreds (literally) of zippers at a thrift store for pennies (50 for 1.99!) They were all brown, lol- but…. I actually found a bunch of fabric (same thrift store) that coordinated and found the simplest zippered pouch tutorial (no boxed corners, just a flat pouch) and sewed about 2 dozen or more, one after another. I don’t claim to be an expert or anything but I’m no longer afraid of them. I do use tips and tricks to help make them look their best, like Scor Tape…. It’s a very thin double sided tape that holds the zipper into place so you dont have to worry about it sliding about….. I’m even ordering all kinds of pretty zippers now for the pouches I make that I want to give as gifts! Try it!

    This is by far the ABSOLUTE BEST boxy pouch pattern & tutorial. I plan of making more with my scraps of cork & wax canvas. I did the medium to try it out. Will now make the large. After making the medium, don't think I will be making the small. Thanks again.

    31:20 corner size and end result correlations are flipped. Larger cut corners will result in taller boxes with the other two dimensions smaller, because the size of the corner is actually 1/2 of the finished height.

It is SOOOOOO much better to have a closed zip end & it just gives you more practice of getting the pull on correctly. You can do it!!! 🎉

    Love your cork! You make it look so easy to work with too! I must try it! The Halloween one was adorable!! I cut everything to make all 3 sizes. I’m going to order some of the 809 you suggested but in the meantime I used Fusible Fleece (on cotton exteriors) and SF101 on the linings. It worked well!! ..the pouches are holding their shape quite good. I even used some SF101 on an upholstery fabric that probably didn’t NEED it…. I have to say I struggle with this method though. I cut enough for 2 small from fat quarters and gave up on the 2nd one and left the raw edges. It still made a cute pouch. The medium was a LITTLE better, but still barely have room sew the boxed corners. I was concerned I missed something and then realized I cant compare since you didnt film the sewing part. I’m going to sew the large since i have the fabrics cut, but want to figure out why its so hard to get the boxed corner under my presser foot, when I manages, I can barely get the 1/4 inch. Would love some feedback/Tips if you know what might be wrong. Thanks for the video, I liked and Subscribed!

    I used 809 decor bond on all pieces. Followed the directions on applying the 809, it adhered nicely. But when I boxed the corners, it started pealing apart. I didn’t pre wash the fabric, was there a finish on the fabric that would repel the adhesive. Also, i had a heck of a hard time boxing corners. There is not enough room when sewing to keep them straight. Now i know why you do that off camera. 😮 would it be easier if the cut (boxing) is 1 inch instead of 1 1/2”. Thanks you for your video, I enjoyed your teaching style.

    • @SewManyCreations
      @SewManyCreations  5 месяцев назад

      @@TrishaLediard The instructions that are included with fusible interfacing, in my opinion, are not the best. Fusible interfacing needs consistent heat and pressure to properly adhere. I never pre wash my fabric. I have an interfacing video if you would like to watch that as well. As for boxing the corners and sewing off camera, the reason I do it is for editing purposes. I’m not hiding anything. It’s just much easier to edit one camera view instead of two. Plus the video would be twice as long. You can cut your corners whatever size you would like, but it will change the height and width of the bag itself.

    • @TrishaLediard
