  • Swimmer Qin Haiyang is one of the biggest names among male athletes in China and the king of breaststroke has been preparing for the Paris Olympics since the start of the year.
24-year-old Qin won the men's 100 and 200m breaststroke half a month ago at the National Swimming Championships in Shenzhen. It was no surprise for Qin as his 100m result ranks second in the world this year, only after Englishman Adam Peaty. Qin made his reputation at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka last year where he became the first to sweep the men's 50, 100, and 200m breaststroke titles and broke the world record in the 200. Qin also topped the podium in his major events at the Hangzhou Asian Games and the Swimming World Cup. Qin won the honor of being China's flag bearer in Hangzhou and was named best male athlete last year by World Aquatics. The 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics was Qin's first time attending the Games, and he failed to advance to the semi-finals. In Paris, Qin expects much better results.
