Why link everything to gdp and direct profit? Can you talk about how these countries have faired in medal tally just befor hosting, during the hosting year and four years after hosting Olympics. Such games bring awareness and more kids pick up sports as a career.

It's not the cost this is india's chance to develop world class sporting infra so that different world sport events can occur in india at anytime. Also if your an athlete in india you expect to train and compete in world class sporting infra in india so u can compete and win those events.

Cost is higher than benefits for every country that hosts or has hosted the Olympics. They still host it because it is prestigious, thrusts the country into the global stage, and in practical terms, someone has to host it. This is a silly, boring, and lazy argument.

Not for a country like India. It has worlds largest population not everyone of them will play cricket or become an engineer or doctor. Building world class Olympic facilities across the nation will give opportunities to those who want to play a sport to do it in world class facilities.

Yeah thoda Jada ho gaya. Olympic is like a hot potato that countries should pass on to others. It's useless !! Instead invest on ISRO or make World Class Village schools or new Medical College or anything else.

India is in a situation where china was in around 2000s so if china can host 2008 Beijing Olympics then why can't India host Olympics in 2036? Our GDP would be around 12 trillion dollars at that time and we would be the third most powerful nation in the world. So we can ofcourse host it
