Just ordered two. Also a Tamiya fan boy since middle school with my first 3 Tamiya Cars M03, FF02, and TL01. Now in my mid 30s the collect had expanded to 20 cars. Sadly my TL01 and M03 are long gone. My FF02 was converted to the blue chassis and shelved ever since. 👍🏽👍🏽
It's amazing how one is never enough! That's the beauty of Tamiya cars, they've each got their own unique personalities. 👍🏻

I think that's a good idea, longer wheelbase should make it more stable, not sure about the the rear wheel drive though. All the leds are different sizes maybe it's so you can drill them out to suit your own fit.😊😊😊😊😊
Good news is, you're right! The longer wheelbase did make it much more stable than it's stubby brother, the MB-01. More on that in tomorrow's video! 👊🏼

I have already seen a couple of unboxing vids from "unknown" channels and they're like wow pre cut decals. So i have to tell them Tamiya chose an old body for this first release of the BT01 chassis hence pre cut decals. Also thats why there were no holes in the light buckets as this was one of Tamiya's first with a light bucket in the mid 90's
You will have great experience building this as you already built that MB01 👍

@@poorboysrc Yes i am telling you not to get excited 😂 You can only be excited when Tamiya re release bodies from the mid 90's to around first years of 00's

Hiya Fil and cool to see another new release on your channel! I do think this is more to my taste than it's little brother so I can't wait to see what you think of the finished kit. It should be more stable in RWD setup than the shorter chassis of the MB01. Having said that I did try my TT02 speed challenge car in RWD setup and it was totally undrivable! 😅😅 ...but then it was geared for 45mph! 🤣 Loved the connoisseur tire sniff! Cheers! 😎👌👍
I'm really hoping it's more stable than the MB-01, Mark. I'm considering some upgrades to help improve handling, but it only fair to star off stock, so we're comparing apples to apples. Fingers 🤞 pal! 👊🏼

Eliminator RC may not be the cheapest place for Tamiya kits but they have a massive inventory and really decent pricing on most things. I buy from them all the time and I am in Ontario.
And what I've found is that if you shop Eliminator-RC, you can use my coupon code for $15 off, then you get free shipping. So if I compare to Zoom Room or Chris's House, they're still a lot cheaper. 👍🏻
@poorboysrc I think it depends on the Tamiya kit. The Zoom Room is typically better priced but not in all cases. The MB-01 is $30 less at the Zoom Room, even with the $15 coupon for example but theu don't have the Supra kit in stock.
Don't get me wrong, Eliminator RC is one of my favourite stores...I have an order in the mail currently. I like to spread the retail love around to smaller and local hobby retailers when possible. We cannot afford to lose any more brick and morter stores!
@@canuckchuck8836 I agree 100% pal! The brick and mortar hobby shops made this hobby what it is today. There's still no better feeling than walking into one and seeing all the awesome products available (even if it's all Traxsucks garbage these days! 😆).
I make sure to order from these great Canadian retailers as much as possible. Easily 90% of my stuff comes from them, but occasionally ebay, amain, or RC Mart to the rescue.
I grew up in Ontario (in BC now), and next time I'm there I need to visit Chris's House. I have family in Hamilton that I can visit.

Great adjustability. And it's nice to see a new on-road chassi. TT-02 is good but get a little repetitive to build if you want different models 🙂 Maybe this years speedrun chassi?
It could be this year's speed run chassis! I can't say just yet, we'll have to get some testing done on it and see if it's worthy of that position. 😉

Btw you can use Tamiya ts paint or any other lacquer on lexan. All you have to do is either spray the body with a ps clear, or something like duplicolor adheasion promoter
Those methods definitely work well! For the purpose of a video like this, I just keep the highlight tips simple and quick. I get into more of those in depth ways of doing things in the "How-to" series vids. 😉👊🏼

Interesting looking kit matey, Tamiya are definitely trying some new things going forward.
One thing I don't like so much is plastic drive shafts and cups..... back in our day these were always metal, maybe I'm just set in my ways and need to give plastic a chance? 🤔

Speaking of your love for logos, just working on project 'tube box' as we speak..... Your channel logo pretty much takes up the entire rear end of the lunchbox shell, its as if it was designed to go on those rear doors buddy! 👌

Yeah there's definitely a lot of sloppy plastic on this chassis, much like the smaller brother, the MB-01. I'm hoping the longer wheelbase makes it a little more stable in the RWD configuration. Fingers crossed this one doesn't go up in flames! 😆

I'm super curious about the front motor, RWD setup. It makes NO sense, but just watch it handle like a 4WD touring car! Lol! 😆

Looking forward to getting one...I've got some pretty cool plans for it and nice that you can set this up sorta realistically? Not really but close I suppose. If the motor was dead centre at the front it would feel more like the real car but it is what it is. Guess we'll see how it performs.
It performs really well, actually! I was quite surprised, as it's got all the slop of the MB-01. I'll have another video for you guys in a day or so. 👊🏼

Loveing this kit, could this be the speed run chassis 🤔 time will tell 😁 im very close to getting this kit. I just love the body set. And the chassis looks interesting aswell. I’ll have to get saving as i didnt set out on buying loads of kits this year 😂

It would take a lot of creative cutting, 3D printing and design to make a dual motor setup work, but I'm sure someone out there is probably working on it right now. 😆

I hope you choose the front-mounted rear wheel drive motor setup instead of the one they show generally for this car but it would be in front motored rear wheel drive instead of mid rear rwd.

I will assume the BT suspension arms will fit the MB to give a wider track.
I haven't tried it, but I don't see why they wouldn't. They're engineered the same way, and fit together the same way. I'm sure it'll work! 😉
If you're going to supply a motor, why not toss an esc in the box as well? Are fewer Tamiya kits coming with esc's now? Kinda seems that way.
Drives me nuts dude! I see in the UK and China their kits seem to come with esc's 90% of the time. Here in Canada, it's more like 50/50 these days. 🤬
Will you go front or rear wheel drive with this one. Although I think that 4wd is still best.😊😮😊

It is indeed, I paid retail for mine from Eliminator-RC. Tamiya releases their kits in an odd order. Sometimes USA first, then Asia next, then UK, then Canada... etc... We just happened to get this one pretty quick. 👍🏻
I wonder if you will go FWD before you build. Looks like the MB01 slop from the design as it looks the same with the links. Result die-cut decals. The annoying thing with this new kit, it costs more than the TT02 and that's 4WD. The TT02 start from £50 cheaper so why the price for 2WD and the MB01 the 4WD series are less.
That's a really good point, I hadn't thought of that! I suppose being that it's new, Tamiya is hoping to cash in on some of the excitement of a new release.
I'm still not sure on how I'll configure this one. I might do an entire video series comparing all 3 configurations. 🤔

This is by far the worst Tamiya kit I've ever built. Worst handling I own as well. Really disappointing :(.
Yeah the handling leaves a lot to be desired. I'm working on cleaning up the slop to help improve this. If successful, I'll have a video on it for you guys. 👊🏼
