I worked at Tesla starting in July of 2017 as an Operations Analyst out of the Bethlehem, PA distribution center facility and left as a Program Manager based out of Austin, TX as of September 2021. I spent most of my time in the distribution and supply chain organizations.
Before Tesla, I was a Director of Business Intelligence and Pricing at the largest Pet Food & Supply distributor in the US, Phillips Pet Food & Supplies based out of Easton, PA. My wife and I also owned a small business in Bethlehem, PA between 2016 and 2019.
I have been a shareholder of Tesla since 2012 and currently own Tesla stock. Nothing I say constitutes as investment or financial advice.

I downloaded V12.3 this morning. Allowed it to drive me to a Dr appt and back. No interventions, very impressive. Dealt with a problematic construction zone which has always been a problem in the past! We are oh so close now!
Where are you located?
I got FSD v12.3 Sunday morning. Drove 90 miles on 5 drives and it did everything perfectly. Every spot it normally would mess up on v11 was perfect. It handled “Keep moving” right turns perfectly for the first time ever. It put turn signals on before beginning to brake for the turn. It felt like a human was driving. Truly impressed with the massive leap forward with v12.
My only complaint, with Auto Speed on, it would occasionally drive under the posted speed, by a few mph. Speed limit was 45 mph on a two lane road and it was driving 43 mph. It was also still a little hesitant at some intersections, though I don’t mind that as much.
17:05 so funny that the car saw the red light and stopped when Farzad completely didn't see that there was a red traffic light there. It truly is safer than humans (or at least Farzad... love you Farzad)
The Tesla was probably listening to Farzad talk crap on it. Might not be long before the vehicle starts pointing out the mistakes made by the humans via the audio system.
It stopped incorrectly though. That red was for opposing traffic
@peterroufaeil2698 oh, you may be right. That intersection is pretty weird, but if that's the case, the light is still red and the pedestrian has right of way and the Tesla should have definitely stopped.
At 14:16 in your video the human walking thru the crosswalk waves “thank you” to the Tesla A.I. for stopping for him. Turing test complete! :-)
Great work as always Farzad.
You're making me want to attempt to try the monthly subscription for FSD. Doesn't look bad at all.
Before you subscribe to FSD, learn how to cancel FSD lane changes. And practice with the system in less busy areas first.
You probably won't get V12 though. It's not widely released yet. I would wait for V12 wide release, it is much better than V11 and the only version I feel confident recommending to friends and family
@@randyhou8522 yup, i don't believe i have it yet but once it is out. it definitely looks like the best version yet. Definitely nice to see it is actively getting better and better.
@@randyhou8522 btw, how do we know if we have received the v12 update?
Wait till v12 goes wide release
Navigating around the pedestrian at 19:12 - a bigger deal than most people realize in how smoothly it handled that.
It was extremely impressive.
3:23 you say it's weird, but I might have driven it the same way the car did. The car has to make a left turn down the road, so it signals to get in the left lane. But then it sees the arrow on the road in the left lane that looks like a left-turn-only arrow. So it gets out of the left lane, because that intersection is too early to turn left.
The arrow is actually a left-or-straight arrow, but the part that points straight is almost all worn off, so it looks like a left-turn-only arrow.
First time watching this and I am impressed with the video and the driving of the car.
Always love that shirt, brother
Thankyou for doing this in austin, you are the only one doing this in austin apart from dave lee.
These downtown drives are the most difficult part of austin. I will give it a 8/10 based on what I saw.
If they can remove hesitation and make the turns even more human like, that would be a 9/10, hopefully by the end of the year 🤞
17:05 I think the fact that there was no cars behind you is why it was making the attempt to allow the pedestrian to cross. I agree it more than likely would not have stopped if a car was behind you
I'm 12 minutes in to the video and observe the many occasions that you say something like, "I would have done it slower, or faster, or ___." This is a program meant for all drivers. It includes the cautious, the agressive, the day dreamer, the far-sighted person who always follows too close, etc. I have seen nothing yet that is a safety issue or a behavior that is illegal or improper. It navigates spendidly. I think you may be too judgmental ?? This is not a bad thing, it just makes me understand how to objectively watch your reactions as I certainly differ in driving techniques/habits from you. Great video!!
Agreed, I see this behavior in every RUclipsr covering (V-12.3). Most passengers ARE judgmental of the driver but I think it happens much more because now the passenger is planted in the driver’s seat. Plus, as my wife said, “these people also need to fill the video with some kind of speech”. Also, I know Farzad went home to cut-up that video and said “Damn, I missed the red light looking at the pedestrian.” 😮
Another good video, Farzad, thanks for what you do. 👍🏻
The crosswalk capabilities are excellent.
I'd say it's funking amazing
The best part of v12 is the human like things its starting to do now. One time it slowed down (just a little bit) for a car with left indicator ON in the front side lane on a highway.
Looking REALLY good. Getting excited for the competition.
What competition? 😅
I'm getting the sense that Farzad is a very fast driver
You sound and look like the dad out for a drive with his teen diver- like the 10 drive- proud, impressed but still nervous!
Impressive video, thanks.
Love the shirt!! You always wear it so to speak 🥰
Farzad
Cheers for the ride
I love your T-shirt!
Very friendly FSD
so good
Really good!
My husband is waiting for the update EVERY DAY!!! 😂. I hope today will be the day 🎉 if not its gonna be a 😢 day. ❤
I drove mine on FSD for an hour long complicated drive last week. On the way home I had a realization... Full Self Driving has arrived! It is beyond impressive. Buy FSD before they jack the prices.
Version 12 FSD ?
Very nice car
Watching these longer FSD demos and contrasting them to the endless disaster clips that have gone viral on social one would almost believe there are some Elon and Tesla haters out there 😏
Farad, its not about how you drive , it's about the average driver as each individual is likely to drive slightly differently.
Thanks Fazad! Awesome! - and just a heads up; your "fast forward" sound in this video is really hard on the ears in headphones.
Farzad: You should not compare how FSD drives compared to how you drive. You should take the role of an UBER passenger and review if you felt safe and the drive was comfortable, would you give it 5 stars and how much of a tip.
I agree with this assessment. He should honestly consider doing some of his future videos with someone else in the driver seat and him in the rear passenger seat, and giving a rating as you suggest. Then, have the person who is supervising fsd give a review of their experience.
It's about time you turned yourself in Farzad😂😂
착한차네...양보도 잘하고...질서도 잘 지키고..나쁜 운전 하는 인간의 잣대로 판단하면 안됨
I think stopping at the pedestrian red light was a good call by the FSD
bottom right view would be better if its just the navigation screen
Would be cool to see the screen bigger
Find a dmv tester and have them grade the drives a few times. Very curious
So are you actually using it all the time now or just testing it for the videos? Also does it make a difference if you enter the address of a destination or drop a pin for the parking?
good question about pin vs destionation because some destinations like malls are pretty big.
I think pin drops do not always work if you are expecting it to park.
Since I have a version 11.9 would it be more beneficial for n2n training to start driving myself as a good driving human or continue driving 11.9 FSD and still report the disengagement?
I'm excited what all this development means for the bot, do you think the bot will be nothing but nets from the get-go?
Your shirt looks like its Andrew Yang influenced. FSD 12.3 is really making some forward moves. Great to see. Thanks!
Evening mate
I tried 12.3 yesterday and was so excited that i waited to long to take over when it was about to go over a pothole and got a blow out. 😢🙄😭. Besides that, it did great.
Ouch. Better to endure the pothole if you can't miss it completely - it's when you're halfway over it I think you are more likely to screw up your tire
seems V12.3 is having trouble with red lights sometimes. Needs more training data for sure. 17:00 is a prime example of this. I have seen this behavior in other videos too.
Love the Andrew Yang shirt.
Also I think slow is better for the costumer riding in the Tesla Robotaxi like you mentioned in the video better safe than sorry
11:51 i think the speed was appropriate. IRL on multiple lane left turns some drivers tend not to respect staying on their own lane and often converge into yours. I bet the training consisted of this and is why your tesla made the turn super slow/cautious.
America, land of the free, home of the brave. You gonna need it with FSD BETA
Wonder can fsd ever be level 3 driving later this year if not already level 3. It does look like level 3
At 12:00 I would have been cautious too because of the other cars in case they went sharp left and cut in front. It looked possible on the video - maybe not in real life.
The system can be overly cautious at times, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Drives better than the avg human that's for sure
Slow turns don’t matter if your going to hit a red light on the upcoming turn anyway 😂
Are the wipers any better than v11? I'm tired of them not working during rain and randomly turning on when it's dry.
Wipers are separate from fsd, they said an improved version for wiper detection should be coming soon
Please upgrade or adjust your cabin camera so it doesn’t look too bloomed.
ayo YANG GANG
When are the rest of us going to get an update for “enhanced autopilot”?
could exclude internal camera feed...
In Elon We Trust" - FSD 12.2 hits Memphis!
Rebellionaire
TIME TO UPDATE GOPRO TO 12.3
Some of your nitpicks, you would be saying to a significant percentage of experienced drivers that are new to Austin or that route. I don't think it was as bad as you might have thought.
When the hell will I get it! lol
On the bus only turn the car should have waited until the solid line was dashed although it was a short lane...Being very picky. Also, wide turns bothers me although, again, no other cars around and just doing what a lot of drivers do...Just being picky.
They’ve taken out the old lady driving mode!
❤🎉❤
@farzyness So at 17:05 where fsd stops at the red and you misinterpreted in real time as stopping for the pedestrian in the median (you added text to acknowledge the red light in post), did you miss the red and would you have driven through it? Or do you think if you were driving without fsd, you would have been more attentive of the actual road conditions?
That is a messy intersection, that red is for oncoming traffic not for the traffic turning right, so FSD is in the wrong to stop for that.
@@harishyala correct.
Congratulations 🎉 faster can solve problems FSD 🎉😅😅
Faezad, you are letting your own driving prejudices be more important than what FSD is doing. Chill man.
I know grown adults who don’t drive that well.
Wala naman nag bago sa tesla, nag patami lang ng batery nag papalakas ng batery amper lang naman lomakas...kung nag papalakas nag dagdag ng batery ibig sabihin mahina
All the potholes and poor road infrastructure in Austin is worst than some in third world countries. What’s with Austin?
Some downtown areas are a issue but it is perfectly fine.
most the people who bashing fsd there a very good chance most of them have never even tried it
Absolutely stupid designing an intersection when the pedestrians cross in front of the cars. we have the pedestrian crossing set back some 3-5m so that the driver doesn't have to concentrate on the pedestrians and the cars crossing at the same time.
I always thought there was more to "Easy peezy", but I never knew it was "...lemon squeezy". ROFL!
When FSD makes those aggressive stops at a yellow, I'd love to hear from the beta tester if there was a car behind the Tesla. Maybe if there was, FSD would have gunned the yellow rather than stop hard.
so good
