- VIRTUAL TIP JAR IN DESCRIPTION! I've had some requests recently for this one so here it is...THE DOORS doing their best to be a blues band! From the 1970 "Morrison Hotel" album, this song was recorded in 1969 at Elektra Studios in LA and has been covered countless times since. I only recently discovered that the legendary Blues/Rock guitarist LONNIE MACK is playing bass on this song. He was working for Elektra at the time and the Doors' bassist was not in the studio the when this was cut. Very cool! Also, John Sebastian from the "Lovin' Spoonful" is playing harmonica on this track. A very recognizable bluesy riff played by Robby Krieger with a great solo. Enjoy learning and playing along to it!

Just one of the best, most patient, most clear lessons for any song I’ve ever seen! I love the Doors and honor all of them but honestly, this lesson is better than Robbie Krieger’s own video tutorial for this track! Thank you so much for not only providing this lesson but thoroughly explaining the blues pedigree of the song and it’s structure!
Thanks so much for the compliment my friend!
Perfect for my very first brand new electric 😂❤❤
Best of luck! Enjoy!
Classic song, and a bar band favorite. Salty...one of the chestnuts that’s not as tired as say, “Hey Joe”
Thanks man!
You should check out Status Quo's version from their 1972 album PILEDRIVER
Superbly taught … the key is not that he’s a great player , the key is his teaching ability ..,highly impressive
I really appreciate that! Thanks so much.
Роби Кригер был красавчег, легенда, дай бог ему здоровья!!!!!!

God damn dude I watched literally every minute of this. Had to suffer through a few useless videos of old dudes playing super technical riffs with no explanation of what they were doing then simply move on to the next riff. you counted every single measure holy shit you the best dude! I can finally play this song!! thanks a million! gonna rip it out at the next gig :)
Man, glad you enjoyed it so much Robbie!
Simply perfect performance and guitar lesson. Thank you

Absolutely nailed it! Perfect.
2:10 that classic Smokestack Lightning riff never gets old! At least that's where I think it originated. Great lesson and great playing!
True, I'm sure it came from Smokestack. Thanks!
reddie King to Hubert Sumlin. Not too shabby.
AMAZING LESSON JAKE. FREAKING NAILÈD IT.
Yeah man! Thanks for the love:)
thanks man
most welcome!
I have been trying to get the intro to this song right FOR MONTHS. I just couldn’t hit the rhythm and muting on the low E and no one else explains it as clear as you! Thank you sir because I can finally get this song out of my head!
So glad you enjoyed it Dan!
R. Krieger don't play this song like that. He's muting the low E with his right hand not with the left. And he's playing with his finger, not médiator. Go to the Doors page, he's explain that.
Fantastic lesson! So well done and completely clear and thorough. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for doing this man. One of the best lessons on the song.

Boom!!!!! Thanks Brotha!!!!
You bet! Thanks
I gave you a thumbs up because this sounds great. Robbie did a lesson himself on this during the pandemic and shows the E7 chord at the seventh fret, sliding up from the 6th fret for the second verse. all the same, well done.
Thanks Bryan! Yes, that's definitely a cool way to play it.
Thanks for that Jake it was a very thorough and intense lesson I enjoyed it very much and look forward to going through all the steps and process when I return from my work Cheers 🏴

Grandiosa interpretación y enseñanza. Gracias por su apoyo para quienes queremos aprender ya que la música es lo más ❤ e importante para invertir la vida en cosas positivas.
Alfredo-Muchas Gracias mí amigo!
Hi Jake! Once again, million thanks for this superb lesson! Simple riffs and licks but so hard to play consistently for the eternal early intermediate player that I am. It took me ages just to get the first riff with the right hand muting. Playing the first measures without the support of the drum shuffle was so difficult to achieve (and I'm still not sure I can do it every time). The solo is also so challenging but it's actually a rhythm exercise! Thank you very much for insisting on playing rhythm, Jake! What a great advice! Best wishes for 2022 and please keep posting your lessons!
So glad you enjoyed this one Samy!
@@JakeAndrewsMusic Sure I did, Jake ! Here's my take on it : ruclips.net/video/O6kVMB3MDDM/видео.html
Very nice lead dude just right not to much perfect tone I been playing this song long time guitar and harmonica together love yer rendition yeah🎉
Thanks so much for the love!
Hi ya, I just subbed your channel here. Thanks for the great lesson man, every video out there gives you the main riff everyone already knows and called it a day LOL!
Thanks again for your work! 🤟
That's so true-I like to make sure and teach all the parts of a song:) Thanks for the sub!
@@JakeAndrewsMusic the pleasures really all mine man! Thanks again for your work really 🤙
Great job and I like the room sound you get. If you teach requests, please do Fleetwood Mac's Oh Well Pt 1.
Thanks so much Steve, Great suggestion!
I think Robbie has a lot to worry about. Loved it when it first came out and still love it now. Great cover. Is there any more to come?.🤟🏻
Thanks so much!
kick ass
Thanks!
He walks the walk.
Your Strat looks like it been around!
Definitely-she was a lot prettier when I first got her! Thanks.
👏👏👏👏
Can you do pride and joy lesson
Der kann das.
why not say "one, two, three, four"?
Jake, I have studied your technique in this vid for many, many months - but I also lurve (American English) your Austin Vintage Guitars t-shirt - how can l get one like that? Do I have to visit Austin? Or do you have a website where I can order one? ciao! Ben from England
Hi Ben! Thanks for the support. Austin Vintage Guitars is a premier vintage store here in Austin...they sell t-shirts on their website: www.austinvintageguitars.com/store#!/AVG-T-Shirt-Moto/p/145499311
Great lesson but amp are you using? I play a strat as well and don't have that sound, I am using also a fender blues amp
A 1960 Strat into a 1959 Fender tweed Princeton...hard to reproduce that tone! Thanks for watching my friend.
i think the second link on the solo is 11 times,,
Thanks Paul!
you play deferent solo with backing track,,,,
Why they were THE Doors.
You mean how did they get the name the doors? They were named after the book The doors of perception the author's name is Huxley check it out it's about heaven meeting hell or something
He's playing Stevie Ray Vaughan instead of the doors part. Lol.
Haha!
Is this tabed anywhere?
This is my take on the original. I'm sure you could find some tabbed version online though. Thanks Dale!
You remind me of Glen Campbell…..
Haven't heard that one before! Thanks:)
Exellent you make it look really easy. I was trying to learn that song
Thanks Mario! So glad it helped you with the song. Rock on!
