Learn how to play Love Me Two Times, as performed by The Doors with Robby Krieger on guitar from 1967.
The lesson covers the details Robby does with the opening riff and with the finger style sparse rhythm guitar he played on the original album. I was surprised to know that I (and I suspect many of you too) have been playing this slightly differently than he actually did. You'll be amazed once you see how the riff is actually played to open the song.

Thanks. Robbie Krieger should get more recognition. His guitarplaying is great.
Totally agree with you
Robbie's flamenco and jazz roots make him a truly good unique player.
Amazing that the debut and Strange Days were released in Jan. and Sept. of '67!!! Same year!!!
Back then it was unheard of to go two years between albums. Two a year were expected. Jimi Hendrix first two records both came out in 1967 too. Also, I came out in 1967. Lol
Everyone in the Doors was Fantastic and Robbie Krieger played the Best Guitar Parts that absolutely Fit the Song and is a Great Player that Deserves more recognition
Robbie is and has always been a subtle, sophisticated player who could shoot fireworks at the right moment.
How is the intro to 'The End' not recognised the most epic riff/intro of all time....
I went to an Experience Hendrix gig in Northern Indiana several years ago, and as my buddy and I were walking around the EH busses, some older guy exited out. We exchanged hello and how are you’s, and we proceeded to enter the venue. I was an Eric Johnson fan, and was mainly there for him. It ended up being Robbie, and he put on a good show. I wish I’d have recognized him. He seems to be a very down to earth guy, and is a big part of the music I love. Billy Cox, Robbie, and Kenny Wayne tore it up!
So, no AkkerDakker, but hey, The Doors, any day. And, this is why I love your channel. I hate, hate, hate (did I say hate?) learning something wrongly. It is so hard to deprogram that piece of muscle memory and relearn it. Thanks for being the Oracle 👍🙏🎸👏👏
Another great Doors choide. Thank you!
i love your playing mike from new hampshire real good stuff!
Best and most authentic lessons on YT. Awesome lesson !
Robbie ….Your word choices for riffs and chords are ALWAYS so perfect … you make learning as good as any I ever watch on the tube …you are amongst the very BEST!
Thanks for sharing your guitar experience on to your followers .
Doors was one of my guesses.😁 Thank you very much for this clip. And please more of this Krieger Stuff.👍🏻
Mr. Krieger doesnt get the attention he should get. and it is very difficult to hear what he played out of my old vinyls.😅
Another great Guitarist who often gets forgotten is Mr Andrews of Big Brother & the holding company/ Janis Joplin. ✌🏻 Summertime would be nice 🙃
Beautiful guitar by the way ❤
Love the secret open A note! Mind is blown
Isaid to my self ;self i said " Ive always eanted to be shown the correct way to play LM2T and now that you've shown me how i think ill play it mostly your way,!i have a little bit of trouble hitting a few but thanks for the info! Even at 67yrs young and have played since i was 8,never too old ! Hats off to RK! From PHAT PHINGERS in PHLORIDA
One of the most memorable, albeit simple, riffs of the ‘60’s.
Until now, I had played the main riff incorrectly - thank you for sharing the right way to play it! Robbie is an under appreciated guitarist - would like to see a lesson on one of you make me real, peace frog, queen of the highway or Maggie McGill. Awesome tunes from Morrison Hotel. Great lessons Doug!
I love how you get to the point without going over the basics of guitar playing!
Have always loved The Doors but it must have been very difficult to work with Jim! But as the saying goes "Only the Good Die Young" and Mr. Mojo Risin was an American Poet! Damn Navy Brat!
PS: no disrespect to the Navy intended.
Always a pleasure. Thank you!
Class band the doors. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Thank you. ✌️🇦🇺
Pretty Boss breakdown, man!
I loved it! 👍
Great job! Very helpful, thanks!
Really love your channel and lessons! Look forward every week
Thank you! Thanks for watching
I know the change you're going to present..I have watched Robbie's personal lesson on RUclips!! 😳🤣🤪
Great!
I've always played it with the Open A, feels weird to play it the other way... Did not know about the trill starting on the first fret though. Best part for for me was when you said " Manzericks.. Mazerickness" Thanks the video 👍🏼
Thanks! You Rock. Literally!
Yep, you are correct, I have been playing it wrong for ## years!
Saludos desde Uruguay 🇺🇾
Wow. I've always played the riff "right", but just due to my own fingering habits. As a person who rarely uses a pick and tends to punch up his rhythm playing with arpeggios, Krieger is really in my wheelhouse. I've always felt he was criminally underrated, as he pretty much created a fusion of blues, jazz, and classical that really did not exist at all prior to 1967. No rock-n-roll or pop music guitars played like that, so thanks a lot for this video.
I would also love to see your take on that album's 'I Looked at You" ...
More Doors stuff man! Excellent vid!
"Out here on the perimeter there are no stars..out here we is stoned.....Immaculate
Thanks!
Wow, thank you so much!
Absolutely fantastic have a good weekend ❤❤❤❤❤😂😊😊😊😊😊😊
Nice...thanks 🍺🍺🍺😉🤘🙏
thats why its so difficult to cover the doors Krieger's feel is unique
You can only be 100% sure.
Great Lesson! My only disappointment was that you didn't include a guitar arrangement of Manzarek's keyboard solo. 😿
If you look on youtube Robbie Kreiger actually shows how to play this song, as well as a few others - which is kind of amazing when you think about it
I know, so cool! I link to it in the video. It is so incredible that there are a few guys who are around that will do that. amazing. I would say that what he shows is more kind of the way he plays it now, he doesn't show some of the variations on how it ended up on the album with a few of the chord positions (like the higher B7 and C7), and the variation in the riff that has the A note in it. But I learned about how he fretted the D7 chord with the low F# from that video. Love everything about Robby!
I understood that Robbie was an early adopter of solid state Fender amps (?)
This is a hard one to figure out due to Ray Manzarek’s overpowering organ; which is not a bad thing. Love the sound but makes it hard to figure the arrangement after the initial riff. Thank you!
Kriegers riffs were simple but tricky…even his fills in ROADHOUSE BLUES are somewhat atypical. I always thought LOVE ME TWO TIMES would be great for a Hard Rock remake.
I just can't quite see where you are putting your fingers.. You haven't got chord diagrams hanging about??
Begging 😢
Are your introductions usually so.. Protracted?!..
I suppose you gotta have fun, and it's free. So I've got nothing to complain about... Carry on
I wasn’t even close to the right song🙄
I know the change you're going to present..I have watched Robbie's personal lesson on RUclips!! 😳🤣🤪
