being a guitar picker since 1963 is a gift and more of a curse , once you get old and your mind and fingers and hands have other ideas , i must have played this tune 2000 times over the years and yesterday i got the urge to play it again after 20 years and for 8 hours it caused me great depression but finally my mind and hands came around , btw this video got my head right

Howard, you are the man. As a former teacher, I'm compelled to observe your style is outstanding. Clear, concise, no wasted energy or prattle; "Here's where we're going, and here's how we get there." your "bedside manner" is reassuring and comforting. With your guidance, anyone who has been playing 12 bar blues in E can easily pick this (and People are Strange) up and have fun playing it/them. Carry on, please.

That A7 groove really makes it for me. I just love that part. Robbie Krieger really knew/knows how to make the most of a small amount of diatonic content.

Bro just woke up this morning pick up a guitar world and saw Love her madly. Came here to get some tips. And dam you nailed Love her. And now this one. Extremely freaking post brother. Robbie a fucking Beast. Unleash the beast. Beaulesson. Love your realism and approach. A WHOLE LOT OF APPRECIATION. Lived in L.A in the 70s 80s. I'm from Pittsburgh PA . HERE IN 75. IM IN CALIFORNIA BECAUSE OF THE DOORS. RIDERS ON A STORM PLAYED IN THE MORNING AT MY HIGH SCHOOL. SO I HITCHHIKED TO CALIFORNIA 1975. STILL HERE.

Absolutely, the best guitar lesson lesson of this song on the internet, in fact your explanation is better than Robbie Krieger demonstration. He does go back to the open "A" string that one time. You have a great ear. Good luck to all.

I’ve been playing guitar for over a decade and would consider myself pretty decent, but any time I try to learn Doors material I’m always left dumbfounded by how technical of a guitarist Robby Kreiger was. I sometimes have to put the guitar down and try another day with some of his licks.

  • @thomassmith5349

Great lesson, well laid out and easy to follow. Only thing i hear differently, and you mention it but don't play it, is the D7 at 6:36. I think the arpeggiated notes start out with the partial D7 shape, open D on 4th string, 2nd fret A on 3rd string, first fret C on 2nd string, and the open E first followed by the fretted D on 2nd string, 3rd fret. He doesn't always play the first fret C on the 2nd string but you hear it later
