I think it was since the metcon 3 I've owned many pairs of all the version and they were always some of the best looking shoes to me regardless of colors. THESE ARE SO UGLY. Just amazing they managed to screw it up after 9 releases.
The Nike Metcon 9 is a joke. I bought one in Brazil, after less than 3 months it started to unravel the fabric on the top. It has no comfort or quality. Relatively expensive and breaks very easily, even when doing basic exercises at the gym, without exposing the sneakers to any stress.
@@jorgecorrea4608 that sounds like an anomaly case, worst model to date by far tho. Only decent for lifting Crazy how far they’ve fallen off from the 4 to now, right?

Hey Jake! Chanced upon this vid and have to say it's amazing! Would you have a pair of shoes to recommend for all round training + light treadmill work? i.e. walking for less than 2 miles
UA TriBase Reign 5, Reebok Nano X3, and RAD ONE would be 3 awesome options to look into. All of them have diff specs that you could align with your wants/needs!
I enjoyed watching the review and the very informal info for the shoe. I am thinking of getting these shoes but would you say these would be a good pair of shoes for a beginner to work out indoor gym workouts for all-rounders and overall to use and why or why not? If not a good choice to get this pair any other pairs would you recommend that are wide and are a good indoor all-rounder and overall shoe to get for men? 🤔
These can be great. A lot of options will work for you, too. Adidas Dropset Trainer 2/3 can work (granted, they have a midsole cutout so not great for wet days), UA TriBase Reign 6, Reebok Nano X4, Mizuno TC 01 - all options that can work!
I am an under armour fan through and through, but I do prefer performance over anything else. What do you feel is the more versatile gym shoe? The Nike Metcon 9 or the Tribase Rain 6. I like everything about the Metcons but the heel always prevented me from getting them. I like squatting deadlifting and the traditional bodybuilding type workouts. I like incorporating sprints and incline walking. I would also like to incorporate more sled pushing. The Strike Movement Haze trainers were a bit too flat for me. I have a fallen arch and the comfort just wasn’t there for me. I do like the METCON 9 when I tried them on but I did not purchase them because I was afraid of disappointment . Lol. The last pair of Tribase Reign were the originals and they hurt my feet. I just want some shoes that I can wear for heavy lifting, squats, deadlifting, and sprinting/incline walking. I am simple, but I feel there are not simple shoes out there. Please help. Maybe a Tribase reign 6 vs Metcon 9 comparison video. THANKS!!!
Reign 6 would be worth trying, imo! Amazon and UA both have solid return policies, so it's worth a shot. Worst comes to worst, they don't work for your foot anatomy and you can go Metcon 9 since they fit okay when you tried them!
Hi Jake great review, honestly as always! How is it for flat foot? Does it press so much with the plastic part etcetera? And between these and the Reebok Nano X3, which are the best for flat foot? Thank you Jake 🙏🏻❤
Ehhhh. I don't think so, tbh, at leas they're not a "hands down" better. The heel is better but the midsole and rope guard wrap give them a weird feeling for certain lifts/contexts.
Thanks for the great review which convinced me to not buy the Metcon 9 as I am doing more gym / versatile / hybrid training. Do you or someone from the community have a recommendation for such kind of training, does not necessarily need to be from Nike (e. g. Reebok, New Balance...)? For instance, how about the NB Minimus TR or Puma Fuse 3.0? Thank you Edit: OK found your comparison reviews and tending towards the Reebok X3 or X4 now :)
I got the metcon 8 nike a month or so ago, and was like wow under 100, not bad -- compared to my running shoes 150 and up. But now these are prices approaching running shoes. I am a runner who started weights only to prevent injuries, lol. I don't think I'd spend over 100.
Yep, they keep creeping up. There are a bunch of solid options for less than $100, though. Plus, I always suggest looking into older models because you'll usually save big on them.
@@thatfitfriend yes I was just using my running shoes to lift til this year but decided to get some better ones. So I got a nike older model that was on amazon for $65 and then these Nike metcon 8 for $97. I have yet to use the metcon. I only strength train 1x a week, 2 if I can get to that lol
Hey Jake. I'm looking for a wider fit, and in Australia both the nano 2.0, X3 and metcon 9 are on sale. Which would you say has the widest fit. I love my vivo barefoots for that anatomical fit but don't feel supported enough in them. Cheers!
Hey Jake, I'm having a bit of a dilemma and could really use your advice. I'm stuck between choosing the Nike Metcon 9 and the UA Tribase Regin 5 shoes. They're both around the same price point, but I'm not sure which one is the better option for me. I've heard good things about both, but I'm really looking for something that offers great support and durability for my cross training workouts. Which one do you think is better? Thanks for your help!
I'd go Reign 5. Metcon is "meh". If you don't mind a cinderblock heel and want stability, then they'll be fine, though! Don't think you can go wrong with either

Agree, Jake is the best reviewing shoes 😊

I would pass on this model, definitely go for 7 or 8 with a big discount.
Ps: I love all your review of Metcons because you always knock the heel 🤣
Reasonable, but god damn is the 8 fugly. The colourways and clashing patterns are some of the worst Nike design blunders in recent years.
Yeah, the 8's colorways can we wicked polarizing so I hear that!

I think all of these mainstream training shoes are missing the point. Reebok needs to go back o the 10....and Nike meda to go back to the metcon 7s.
Innovation for the sake of innovation ain't always it.
Excellent review, Dnt do anything too dynamic so it’s good enough for my needs
Should be solid then!

Haha, thank you, friend!
It’s definitely an improvement over Metcon 7 & 8.
A regression from Nike for sure.

100000%. This works well! Let's change it and redo everything, and while we're at it, let's make it worse and more expensive!

Hows the toe box in comparison with Minimalist shoes like xero prios and vivos?
Decent. I think if you normally have room in your Xero and Vivo models then this toe box should be plenty wide for you.
The $150 jump sucks for a training shoe that doesn't have the technology of a running shoe that adds comfort.
I just cut my metcon 9 in half and low-key it’s cheaper than I thought. Sharing a video on that soon!
Metcon 9 is just too ugly to be bought.

@@thatfitfriend nah. It’s a terrible cross trainer. U should buy lifting shoes.

Don’t know if it’s only my pair… Rim of heel rubber is ripped off like crazy… does not affect the function… but seems pretty premature :/
And so it begins…Sorry to hear that!
The shoes are heavy and I really hate them when I do Russian twists!
