Brought the metcon 9s last week. I have narrow feet and I had to go a half size down because the toe box was too big. I’m used to wearing 11s I went for the 10 and a half and they fit much better, glad I went a half size down, if I went for the 11s I would of had to use insoles or even toe plugs 🤦♂️
I am a metcon 6,7,8 owner. 9 is the worst one to compare to these three. Don’t waste your money on metcon 9. Btw, thank you Jake. Your in depth reviews did help me a lot in the past.
@@thatfitfriend honestly, metcon 7 was the best one . Metcon 8 is already a downgrade coz daily use isn’t the thing I would care about. I prefer more stable and solid sole . Nike cared about the business instead of performances now .
I’m researching about my training shoes and I’ve loving your content. I lift and sometimes I do CrossFit and I’m very confused. What should I buy between Nike free metcon 6, Nike metcon 6 and Nike metcon 9?
Thanks for this. I am a woman in 40s trying to get some of my muscle mass back but I can't see myself lifting over 30kg. I was looking at the metcon 9s but have seen a pair of metcon 6s which are more reasonably priced so I think I'm going to go with the 6s, particularly since I will probably also want to use them for walking. Any idea whether you can put orthotics in them?
I’m looking to buy a cross training shoe for dance fitness classes and walking and I love your content . I’m considering Nike between Nike free metcon 5 /free metcon 6 / Pegasus 41 , Which is suitable for classes and also durable . I’m quite curious as you mentioned about durability issues with free metcon 6 . Can you suggest the best pick .
I'd go Free Metcon 6 or the 5. 6 will feel the best regarding blending responsiveness with some stability. I think the durability issue will only be present at certain thresholds. If you're not going crazy with heavy sled pushes and outdoor concrete workouts then you'll likely be fine! Mine ripped when pushing 5 plates, but should be a non-issue for most who aren't going ham with that, imo. Thank you for checking out the channel!
As a collegiate athlete, I do a pretty good mix of classical strength training and also a lot of plyos and non-conventional movements.which shoe would you recommend? Or maybe one of the older versions of the metcons? I’ve heard some good things but I don’t know too much abt em
If you're not going crazy heavy, Free Metcon 6. If you plan to load some barbell/movements, the Metcon 9 will be fine. Just note, they're blocky SOBs. Are you open to other brands?
@@thatfitfriend I wanna be able to load heavy and do sled pushes/pulls, cleans, plyos etc..,but I definitely am open to other brands, just watched the drop set video and those piqued my interest. What other shoes you recommend?
Looks like the Project Rock 7's are going back to a Bootie style construction. Wonder how they'll compare to the free metcon 6? (They seem to have stripped away a lot of the unnecessary tech, too.)
If I’m doing just basic Apple fitness + indoors, which has hiit and weight lifting, should I get the mc 6 or the cheaper mc trainer 3? I saw the trainer for $56 on Nike. I also like the laces are not held together by other strings, that concerns me that they might break
Hi I’m looking for a shoe that provides comfort and stability. I mainly just do regular workouts (Lunges, Squats, Split squats, RDLs) with barbell and dumbbells. My current shoe I’m wobbly and lack the ability to truly push myself up when squatting. Which shoe do you recommend?
@@thatfitfriend metcon 9 are strangely unstable, or rather my heel sinks strangely to the side in these shoes. I've never had anything like that in any other. My girlfriend has a similar feeling in the women's version
Hi, Jake! Have you tried doing barbell/dumbbell walking lunges or reverse lunges using Metcon 9s? I want to know which shoe is better for that particular exercise because currently I'm struggling with my Reebok Nano X3s and want to change it ASAP! Thanks... 💪🏻
The looks of the metcon 6's really are growing on me!

@@drevil2675 I’ve said the same stuff in 9 reviews. Compared to models like the 4/6, the 9 is an abomination and so mid, lol.

@@drevil2675 agreed.
Have you tried the Dropset 2/3?
@@thatfitfriend sadly no. After I watched your two videos , I would love to try one, but I will get my Romaleos 4 first coz it’s on sale 🔥.
Can confirm the Metcon 7’s are amazing, have it already for 3 years now and using it frequently for lifting weights!
Would love to hear your thoughts on the 1 OG.
Awesome info and detail as always 👏🏼
Didn’t bother buying that model for testing. Folks have enjoyed them, though! I loved the older metcons so I’m not surprised
Thank you!

If you can find an old Metcon 6, grab those! They’re a GOATed model.
If not, go Metcon 9

You should be okay doing so! If the orthotics are thinner then you’ll have no problems, imo.
Glad the video helped!
Are your replacement pair of Free Metcon 6s holding up better or still ripping?
@@ryanroberts7597 new pair is holding steady…but I’ll be honest, I didn’t do a heavy sled to sprint combo in em yet. So far so good, though!

Ayyy! That’s what it’s all about. Efficient info
Don't know if I should hunt for a old metcon 5 free or metcon 6 :(. Biggest issue for me is heel slippage / lifting
I'd try! Those models are so solid

Probably more chonky and heavy feeling, if I had to guess! Stoked to see, though. I'm hopeful UA will better optimize this shoe line
Here's my take on comparative shoes:
Nike Free Metcon
Project Rock BSR 4
Reebok Nano Gym (upcoming)
Nobull Drive
Adidas Rapidmove
@@capt1941 solid same cat lineup
Ordered the PR7's this morning. Looking forward to your review. 😁

Either would be fine! The flywire eyelets tend to be fine, btw, I doubt those would break on you

whats the best metcon for general weightlifting? like bench, squats, deadlifts etc.
Metcon 9!

Yeah, go TTS
Which model last longer?
Depends how you're using them! Both can last a while depending on context. Metcon 9 will be outright more durable to lifting abrasion, though.

Nooooo, I would not use the Free Metcon for HYROX. Midfoot will be meh for durability - I discuss that in the cross-training section.
Less stability makes you work more muscles bruh, flat foot virgins.
YEAH!
I have the free 6’s… trash. Absolutely hate them
Def not a fan fave this year
