Technically 'Pop on Trial' was the season that BBC Four kicked it off in January 2008 and they showed four TOTP repeats within that month - 15/2/68, 26/12/67, 25/12/78, 25/12/82 (which also featured Mike Smith in one minor link and they'd never showed it since), and lastly the 25/12/94 episode presented by Take That. Also this was pre-at the BBC and music shows which put BBC Four a major rating landslide with the TOTP reruns beginning on the 1st of April 2011 to commerate its 35th anniversary and since then, two years were put out in 2016 instead of one. Also not forgetting about the Operation Yew Tree which omitted the JS/DLT episodes and not forgetting Mike Smith, Adrian Rose, and Gary Glitter just to name a few mentions from those which won't be shown again for TOTP repeats on BBC Four.
I feel like I should make it clear that Mike Smith's episodes are not shown because he himself didn't want them repeated, and not for the reason that the other people's episodes are not shown.
@@vhsvideovault he didn’t sign the licence petition for his Top of the Pops episodes to be repeated and at least he only made one repeat rerun appearance in 2008 when they did show the Christmas Day 1982 episode of TOTP in which they edited Darling Save Your Love part of the number ones montage, technically in 2016, the video was left in from major 1982 repeats, neither of those showings never featured MS. Pop on Trial season did allow a Noel Edmonds episode from Christmas Day 1978, years after he blocked his episodes from not being shown on UK Gold in the mid 90s and then the following year on a German channel called Eins Festival repeated the entire six years of the 70s of TOTP repeats for the next twelve months until BBC4 finally allowed to them repeat the entire TOTP archive in April 2011 up until October 2012 when they omitted episodes from controversial presenters such as JS and DLT and they’ve recently skipped Gary Glitter episodes and Rolf Harris in February 1993 with Stairway to Heaven.
