My man! I came here looking for headlamp aim procedure, found this vid, then immediately found a broken link on a 2010 Q5! Thanks!

Do you happen to remember a part name or number? My wife’s 2010 Q5 is having the same issue.

@@AversaS2 It’s called a “ride height sensor,” I believe. Not sure about the part number. It’s a bit of a PITA to replace because it’s held on by the upper control arm bolt which is tricky to remove. I believe the new sensor must be coded, or learned/calibrated to the car with a proper scan tool.
I actually was able to creatively repair the broken link on mine w/o replacing the sensor. Other guys find a way to park & jam/secure the broken sensor in a position where the lights are aimed ok & abandon the aiming feature. Good luck.

Have been chasing my head light issues on my 2013 Q5 for a while now - and couldn't figure out why the auto-leveling was suddenly so off - beams way too low ... and it's exactly as you showed - the adjustment rod just hanging barely on to one side ... will have to figure out on how to fix this now - maybe a video for another day ...

So what if the lever is good and it doesn’t work?

  • @nan11nan

I actually diy manually fixed the problem in 20 minutes by removing and then screwing the broken plastic cap back to the lever and reattaching the lever back to the ball points.

Today I started the car and my headlights were basically pointed at the road in front of the car. Figures, it’s winter so it has to throw a tantrum of some kind.

What do i do when all my screws and bolts are completly rusted? I got the metal rod off....but it broke off due to stress of when i moved it. Somehow i was able to use a 9mm 12 point wrench on a 10mm bolt and got that off....but what do i do with the other ones. Ive tried to screw the t26 screws off with a simple umbrako key but sadly the holes have corroded away. And now theyre just sircle holes....

My Audi A4 b8 is doing this, if I turn left or right quick, it adjusts up, then comes down. I figure they are broken, is the process the same?
