We are navy family & planning to do our last years of service in Bremerton. We are excited & would love to know where would be the best place to live close to schools

Rain starts in October and may end in June. July the heat kicks in, summer can be nice, or it can be off the charts hot if a heat bubble moves in. Pro #2 Traffic, depends on when and where you are going in relation to the base letting out or going in for a given shift Getting to the ferry some days can be a challenge as they tend to break down frequently, weather can interfere with some ferries. Cost of living here is not balanced, as most places charge based on what they think a service member is making and not what the average person makes. Con #5 : A lot of homeless here, many "homeless" will come over on the ferries and may cause some thefts. Not mentioned: local restaurants...get used to teriyaki made by people who may not be of Japanese decent. There are a few decent restaurants in Bremerton, but many IMHO are subpar, and charge more than what they should for basic stuff.
I moved to Bremerton, Washington from South Korea in 2019.. I personally think it’s really nice place to live! Commuting by ferry everyday to UW is kinda fun, some cute and beautiful towns. I really hated the weather at first, but now fell in love with this beautiful evergreen state! Thanks for the video👍
Best years of my life were spent living in Bremerton as I was stationed at the hospital. I loved the area and would LOVE going to Seattle. I’m afraid Seattle has lost its touch. But Bremerton will always be considered a second home.
I'm so happy you have great memories here! Maybe you're due for a visit 😄. How long has it been since you were here? I'm sure it's changed a lot. And THANK YOU for your service!
Hello, I hope you all are doing well. I have a friend that just arrived to Bremerton from Arkansas. He is looking for a job. He has 20 years experience working for restaurants as a cook (professional and responsible). He just need a job so he can find a place to stay soon and live in Bremerton. He is doing this because he wants to be close to her daughter that lives with her mom. Now he is spending between $100-$160 per day staying at hotels plus food and gas. Any help it will be so much appreciated. Thank you.
It really depends. Some do. A lot of the older homes used to have a small one-car tuck under garage that have since been converted to additional living space. There are a lot of alley parking and off-street parking situations in the downtown area.
Bremerton...objectively speaking....could easily have been the most scenic and attractive place to live and commute to Seattle. But they have historically run the place like a garbage dump and the foolishness still continues today. With more and nicer waterfront parks and endless miles of coastline on the saltwater, this place could have been better than Bellevue. But it has lousy schools, dirty streets, and poor infrastructure....its being run to be slum with no intention of ever improving.
Hi Sarah, average electricity can vary from $20-30 a month in the warmer months, to over $100 in the winter. If you have natural gas, that can offset your electric bill by quite a bit. I have natural gas for hot water and heat, and my bill is about $15/month during the summer and around $50/month in the winter. Water/sewer are about $150-200 (for both) a billing cycle, which is every two months.

I'm so glad you're liking it here! It took me a while to get used to the weather also, but now I love it here.
I’m from Albuquerque, NM and I was originally planning on moving to Tacoma or south Seattle but I’m starting to think Bremerton might be the best bet!
It's great here!
Can you do a video on California vs. Washington please! Great video btw :D
Hi there! I sure will, thanks for the request!
Super informative.! The 4 mile hike to the top of the mt sounds like fun - I'll put it on my list of things to do next time I visit.. : )
It was a pretty cool hike. Here is the link if you ever want to try it: www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/green-mountain-1

@@livinginbremerton thank you! I lived there from 2011-2013. I lived off 303 and the fairgrounds. I plan on going back here soon!
@@BigRedOverlanding I used to live in those apartments there back in the day before I bought my house. I hope you enjoy your visit while you're here!
Cold is anything below 10 degrees, if it’s anything above that, I’m good.
It doesn't get that cold here lol. Maybe in the teens overnight in the winter.
you think it gets cold here, lol just wait

Hi Enrique! I just replied to your text message.
Good stuff.
How long is the Bremerton | Seattle ferry ride?
It's about 50 minutes. A few minutes longer if it's foggy.
There’s a fast foot ferry now that is 25 mins to DT Seattle
In the downtown area do most or some rentals have a parking garage? Thanks.

It's certainly not for everyone!
How much are utilities? like average electric?
