Damn I knew modern Lego had an issue with color overload but I didn't expect it to be this bad, like what in the world is that mess at 1:28 or 2:34??? Back in the 1990s and 2000s I already always had an issue with those damn ugly blue half round half cross pins who ruined soooo many nice builds with that damn splash of blue that didn't fit at all and judging by 00:04 that issue clearly still exists and it actually gotten worse somehow??? WTF? Why can't those pieces just be black, grey or any other color that fits the build? That always bugged me to no end because if you want to rebuild it into something else you're always so limited by those pieces that then just throw the whole color scheme off. So quite honestly neither the Lego nor the knockoff version seem worth it for me here, Lego version has better brick quality but the massive issue with the unnecessary colors and an insane price while the knock off obviously suffers the same color fate and falls apart too easily.

It looks like you build the them different, the gearbox on Chinese version has wrong gear placement, you should swap grey and yellow + gears. There is specific reason for different colors on these two.
Yellow and gray ball gears. There is 3 yellow and one gray , 2 on each side of the gear box. Look how you fitted those. The gray one has 45° offset so all mech works fine
This, he messed up with the yellow and grey gears on the aliexpress one. You can’t build it wrong and then claim it does not work on the aliexpress one. About time LEGO had some competition, they've had a monopoly and prices have skyrocketed because of this. I would definitely buy the Chinese version, you are over paying for LEGO!
Actually, LEGO is considerably cheaper (price per part) nowadays compared to even 20 years ago. Off of a quick google search, price per part average now is ~10.4¢USD per part, when it was 10-20¢USD per part 20 years ago. The reason it is so much more expensive is because LEGO is releasing sets with a larger 4:02 piece count.
Before any of you come at me with knives i'll just let you know, I buy lego when I can, but I cannot afford a set that is 3/4 of my salary just cause I live in a shitty country.
I don't really understand the Chinese. They can make great copies of things, yet somehow they always fail to perfect the functionality. With a little bit care and attention to detail they could easily make the model fully functional. We all know lego is overpriced because it can. Because there are always some kind of people that will pay whatever the price. Should the Chinese create authentic models rather than just copying, with a little bit more attention to detail they could have been widely accepted in the market. I know they can because if you look at the 3d metal puzzle models nobody is able to rival them yet. They are making great works in that area. I'm sure they will get better and better with block models too. We need rivalry otherwise one always gets overcharged as we can see here. Sure the lego is better here but 5 times? I don't think so.
The Chinese versions always have the best value because these Legos are mainly for display. The boxes and the functions really don't matter. Who is actually going to take these down their shelves and play with them? lol.

I have a no name of the Ghostbusters Fire Hall and the quality was so good. Nobody can even tell the difference and the build was a blast.
Not working gearbox might be result of buling it wrong. At 3:08 we can see that original has 2 yellow cogs on top and grey and yellow cogs on the bottom, while in non original one they are swaped (dual yellow at bottom). These pieces are different, because grey ones are offset by 45° from yellow ones, and can make these orange drums not align properly

Can you do a video on the BMW M1000RR? I bought the Chinese version a few days ago for just 13 USD and it looks 99% same as the real version, only problem is that the gearbox and the chain are too stiff so they barely move.
@@dumdum93 Why would you like to see a Chinese version review if you already have it?
@Mr.Bricksteen I mean a comparison with the real version like you did with this video. Besides, the Chinese BMW kit you buy will most likely not come from the exact same factory as mine and it would be interesting to see the differences in quality.
@ I’ll add it to my list. I pay for all those sets from my own pocket so it might take some time.
@@Mr.Bricksteen Much appreciated, also you can buy it whenever you want I'm not rushing.
@ I planned to do a few videos about ferrari and Aliexpress speed champions now.👍
It would have been better to know what problems with the gear box you had because at £69 i`m sure that you could buy the pieces that are causing the problem and fix it. Overall it`s not bad though is it really? If anything i think that Lego themselves should take a good look at their pricing and may rethink that. Me i`d buy the Ali Express version build it see if there are any problems and rectify any problems. Great video thanks.
You know it costs a lot more for LEGO? Better quality parts, official car licensing cost, creating designs of the whole model and for parts in it. Of course fake doesn't have those costs.
@@ligametis It's still expensive though? Ain't no average people is dropping $300+ for a lego set
@@ligametis I guess you didn`t fully read the comment i wrote. I wasn`t dissing Lego far from it I love Lego I have quite a few builds myself. But my point is that you should be able to buy the genuine lego parts for the engine and put that in there insted of the fake one.
@HarryMaguirethegoat885 average person of course won't. But there are also a lot of rich people, especially in US
Damn I knew modern Lego had an issue with color overload but I didn't expect it to be this bad, like what in the world is that mess at 1:28 or 2:34???
I haven't got the P1 yet, but fpr my Bugatti I love the certificate you get with your name on it after you enter the code in the Lego website.
Did one from temu recently, no issues apart from one door piece was missing, I sent off for original Lego piece and it's was identical! And at a fifth of the price

Just got one for 50eur from aliexpress to remember my childhood. Its actually crazy amount of pieces. Now building it after work. Parts quality is close to original (no bad smell, smooth surfaces) but Lego is much better at tolerances of fittings. But its crazy how chinese can offer this price. I think for 50eur I will have a great time anyway since this set is quite challenging. With original you would have a little better building experience since parts fits nicely.

It looks like you build the them different, the gearbox on Chinese version has wrong gear placement, you should swap grey and yellow + gears.
There is specific reason for different colors on these two.
what do you mean?
Yellow and gray ball gears.
There is 3 yellow and one gray , 2 on each side of the gear box.

This, he messed up with the yellow and grey gears on the aliexpress one. You can’t build it wrong and then claim it does not work on the aliexpress one. As for the wheels, they have to be pushed all the way until you hear a clicking noise. I bet that’s what happend to the one from aliexpress. To me it seams like he went sloppy with the aliexpress version. Not sure if it was intentional or not from this youtube, but to me it seem biased.
Almost like he did it on purpose, to make it seem like the lego one is worth the huge difference.
so, would you advice to sand the gearbox pieces?
Just wondering if you solved the issue sanding the gearbox, I’m stuck there. Thanks for answering 🎉
honestly I'd pick the aliexpress knockoff any day. I don't play with my Lego sets once built, they are display pieces so I wouldn't care that the gearbox doesn't work and if anything I'd just super glue the wheels on if they fell off.

Off of a quick google search, price per part average now is ~10.4¢USD per part, when it was 10-20¢USD per part 20 years ago.
