1987 South East Asian kid reporting in. When i was in a kid, Lego was rm6.90 for the smallest pack (USD1.5), love it and it did help my creativity. Now i am a businessman but still feeling not worth to spend in Lego store. China knockoff is bad morally, but kids in lower income countries need brick toys too!!!

The thing with chinese Lego knockoff models is that they guys who made it see no difference between technic pins with or without friction ridges and give you only the ones with friction (parts 2780 and 3673, same for 3l pins). Therefore, using pins with friction in gearboxes where they are supposed to rotate freely makes it hard or impossible to operate gearbox without breaking something. The wheels might be a little bit more pain. From what I know these rims are used first time in this model and there was some error in moulding. Solution for this is to put bar piece inside this rims pins (part 87994, perhaps you also have to cut it so it doesnt stick out), which will provide increased friction on these pins and prevent them from being squeezed and keep the rim in place. In my opinion it's still worth it if you just want to put your model on the shelf, or if you have some spare parts and are aware of what I wrote before.

I bought a copy of 911 GT Rs because it’s not possible to get the set for a decent price. The quality is great. Now Planning to buy the original F1 set though.

I will go for the Chinese one, which is probably produced by the same factory making the ones with LEGO logo.

Kudos to the LEGO engineers for making gearboxes that work like butter, and to the knockoff team for providing a workout regimen disguised as a build kit. 😂 Let's see if this Chinese version can even keep its wheels on! 🧱🚗

Having lived in China, the "Lego" models are even cheaper over there and the quality is no different whatsoever. All the toy sections in supermarkets are full of them.. They also come boxed, but as your getting them shipped abroad they unbox it all for easier packaging.

good alternative to lego is CADA (or Cadafi idk). We have few of their sets and they are suprisingly good quality (but electronics suck).
