No, lego is expensive because of the name. The salary of everyone involved in making a set isn't even a fraction of the cost they pay to get the rights to use the IP it's based on, and the printing/packaging of parts costs them pennies each piece (only even being so high because of quality control). They have absolutely massive profit margins because people always buy merely on the name and it costs them very little to make a set, assuming they even need to pay for the rights on something.
The ABS plastic for this set costs no more than $6, with the overall cost of the set being no more than $10 at production. Add $10 for branding license. $100 profit margin, pay the designer 100,000 a year. They only have to sell 1001 to make a profit. They sell tens of thousands!

Well, the reason it’s so expensive is because you know like how some kids right some kids buy Lego sets in the end up like destroying it and even if they have not even did anything with it it’s like useless to kids, but adults actually build them and take time some adults do buy these sets that’s why like at least releases some good sets The BMW hybrid along the BMW set but they ate it for a reason as well as that it’s because kids can’t build stuff that are aged higher because of how hard it is and tiny or big finger type handling

Then you go and buy a cheap, fake set from another company. It’s not hard to copy someone else’s design and abuse 3rd world labor to undercut competitors. Thank God we have a patent office, albeit there should be some more protections for copying product designs just to undercut the inventor. As an engineer myself, I’d pay more just to support fellow inventors and western economies.
Isn't it a crime in your country to willingly buy counterfeits? In mine, it is. After all, Lego did all the work in designing the product (which includes years of Lego research and development). And they own the exclusive rights to their products.
@@kalan91 well, when you shop on Aliexpress the listing description doesn’t say anything about a counterfeit, knockoff or copy. The Lego name is not even mentioned there. It’s just a racing car building blocks set and this is what you buy there. In reality is 1:1 copy and this is a different story.

@@Mr.Bricksteen thanks
yes, yes it is ANYTHING is better than lego
how can i buy it? the fake one
description
For me it is ok when China makes some bricks like Lego like BlueBrixx and so on (I dont know if BlueBrixx is a china product). But they do a own job and don't copy 1:1. So in that case I would never order a fake product like this.
i once saw a fake lego version of both the f1 cars the mercedes and the mclaren one i considered buying them
@@lionelsekarsedayu3460 I’m gonna buy them and review the difference as well.
I bought the Mercedes one for 20 odd pound compared to my real McLaren f1 Lego car and the only differences are on the suspension components in quality but still good enough personally
Do you have the link for the set?

@@Mr.Bricksteen thanks man, also, I'm wacthing the video bugati right now :))), nice video !!!!
@@QuocAnhMinhVu thanks. How do you like the AI voice over? It’s easier for me to voice over this way but some people take it as Chinese fake lego advert😄.
@@Mr.Bricksteen very nice voice man, I like it very much
if your just going to build these and display them in your mancave then yeah go cheap.
Combining elegance and luxury kislux
Is this a fake/AI voiceover? Doesn't sound like a real person talking
@@Ktmzqw yes AI voice in my early videos like this which I replaced with my natural one later on ( from mclaren p1)
I like it both
Anyone know if it builds exactly like Lego? Their app makes building much easier.
@@gregorysmall9284 you can use lego instructions for all those 1:1 copies. No problem.
Interesting 🤔
Who knows what the real difference is between real LEGOs and knockoff. One thing is for sure, my son still plays with the 30 years old LEGOs I was playing with during my childhood. not sure if the knockoffs will hold that long.
One thing I do not like with recent legos though: they opted to replace all printed pieces by stickers, except for minifigures
Soon people will affordably be able to design and print any set they want for their kid at home.
Anhand des Teiletrenners und eventuell vorhandener Teilekennungen/Teilenummern könnte man hier durchaus den chinesischen Hersteller benennen. 😉
the voice-over tells me that this is a Chinese ads made by the Chinese

I mean the McLaren P1 is 121,90$ canadian dollars on ali express and on lego's site, with tax, it's over 670,00$ canadian dollars, more than 5 times the price. Goodbye LEGO!
I ve found it for 78 euros. Lego wants 450 euros. I am waiting for sales on aliexpress... This summer i bought ferrari Daytona and bugatti chiron for 50 euros each, Ford gt for 25 euros, mclaren F1 25 euros, mt09 sp 27 euros, Peugeot 35 euros, chevrolet camaro creator expert 33 euros etc... Not to talk about star wars set... I have bought about 20 big sets and they re quite perfect..
Nice video🎉
@@CEYLON-y4k thank you
Nobody wants stickers, no metter if is an original lego set
Both are same builds
👍👍
All dat kislux bags sssssoooooooo gorgeous
Lego had to pay for license and design, Chinese one only had to pay for materials. If you say Chinese one is better you basically support theft.
Peolpe decide about value not company. As long as we buy 500$ sets, they will rise the prizes. Its Simple economy, this pyramid will collaps as many before
Poojoe?
Ionly buy that lego original set because the box, if not then the temu one
@@SebaCDT bricks on Temu are overpriced 😆
So you starting a youtube channel where LEGO is your main source of material, yet 6 videos in and you review fake LEGO, and then go and recommend it over genuine LEGO??
@@phillipkruger5944 I’ve played with Lego for a long time. In fact not only Lego. I started a youtube channel to compare different brands and show interesting sets. I’m not a Lego expert, this is my personal opinion. In this example I’m very found that Chinese version being not much different and I would buy it again. That’s all.
@Mr.Bricksteen yeah, but you still supporting a fake product that goes against much that LEGO stands for. As another comment on this thread said, designers pour their time and creativity into a LEGO set. That's a large portion of what you pay for. Then you go and buy a cheap, fake set from another company. Go google news articles over the past few years, you will find entire warehouses raided and shut down by authorities for manufacturing and distributing fake LEGO sets.
If you've been involved in the LEGO community for sometime, you would know the greater, loyal LEGO enthusiasts would not approve of this.
Anyday Chinese one is worth it. Don't compete in manufacturing field with china.

@@Mr.Bricksteenhe is lying
@@Mr.Bricksteen Well, if someone's aware that this product is fake, and deliberately bought for way cheaper price, and the police/prosecutor will prove that (for example, one was searching for the same car, or is interested in Lego overall etc), one may run into troubles. For example, my friend, once was summoned for questioning because of car tires he bought once online, that turned out to be fake.
I don't criticize, I'm just saying to be aware of that, but also, the law differs in every country. And rather noone will ever go to prison for buying fake lego bricks :P
Never going to buy fake LEGO!
I rather spend more money on quality then on a fake rubbish set.
Have you ever tried a ko? Some have same quality of Lego. Same colour, same weight. Quality is increased a lot in the last years. Only in technic set some pieces are too tight or weak but nothing so bad. On most creator, city etc sets you can't even see the differences.. Only in minifigures but in many sets they re good.
