wikipedia says - Numafung is a 2004 Limbu language film that portrays the culture and tradition of the Limbu community. It is directed by Nabin Subba. The film was screened at the Thirteenth Finnish Indigenous Film Festival. The lead characters in the movie are Anupama Subba, Niwahangma Limbu, Prem Subba, Alok Nembang and Ramesh Singhak. Numafung means a "beautiful flower" in the Limbu language. The majority of shooting took place at Panchthar, Nepal Sikkim and Assam. Numafung has won two International award. In 2003, Numafung was awarded as Best Runner-Up Movie Award in International Film Festival held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The film was selected among 123 entries from 36 countries. Numafung also bagged Audience Choice Award in Bijul International Film Festival held in France.

Even back in history, when bahun women were forced to marriage, Limbu women had chance to get marriage by own decision. When bahun were practicing “Sati” pratha, Limbu had choice to re-marriage. When bahun girl were chained by marriage, Limbu girl had choice to divorce via “Jari” tirera. So, may be you can look at yourself. Also, chhaupadi is still practiced at western Nepal by someone of you.

Movie started from Lojina putting flower on Numa and ended with Lojina putting that flower on herself. Letting us know that she’s next Numa. And that’s how their life revolves around. Masterpiece from Nabin Subba.
Around 25/26 yrs ago i watched this movie in theatre ..that time it was in limbu language ...i hardly understood the script but decades after watching in youtube made me watch again and again...and today its 6th time i am watching..pure organic movie in history of nepali movie i must say😍

just saw this movie the other night with my sister. we both absolutely loved it. what a masterpiece! thank god kata bata mero youtube ko home page ma recommended raicha and name sounded familiar too. we decided to watch it jhan after seeing alok nembang on it. ekdammai ramro lagyo. kasaile pani acting gareko jasto lagena. it felt so real. i guess in a way it is real life story. timing, cinematography, storyline, acting from everyone, music.. everything was perfect. being a nepali movie lover, after watching this movie i felt like yo movie nahereko bhaye mero life ta ettikai janthyo. limbu culture is very beautiful. naya kura pani dekhna sikna paiyo. k bhanne aru khai. just watch this movie and i think you’ll appreciate the rawness of it. thank you for this amazing movie. absolutely oscar worthy 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

The last part where Lojina picks up the white flower kept by her father offering to the Gods & puts it on her hair. That is so beautiful!! For me that signifies the realization by Lojina that now its her turn to take on the role of her elder sister. Such a beautiful movie 🧡🧡 We dont see such movies anymore

A beautiful movie about the culture, traditions and architecture of Limboo. Watching this movie reminds me of my home and my people. Beautiful piece of art done by Nabin Subba, supported with a wholesome acting from the characters. But animals were being killed for showing the genuine lifestyle of the people, which could have been avoided. Nevertheless, Thanking You for such a contribution to the Limboo society.

just saw this movie the other night with my sister. we both absolutely loved it. what a masterpiece! thank god kata bata mero youtube ko home page ma recommended raicha and name sounded familiar too. we decided to watch it jhan after seeing alok nembang on it. ekdammai ramro lagyo. kasaile pani acting gareko jasto lagena. it felt so real. i guess in a way it is real life story. timing, cinematography, storyline, acting from everyone, music.. everything was perfect. being a nepali movie lover, after watching this movie i felt like yo movie nahereko bhaye mero life ta ettikai janthyo. limbu culture is very beautiful. naya kura pani dekhna sikna paiyo. k bhanne aru khai. just watch this movie and i think you’ll appreciate the rawness of it. thank you for this amazing movie. absolutely oscar worthy 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Numafung (A Beautiful flower) is a 2001 Nepali movie which portrays the tragic fate and story of Numafung from the point of view of her younger sister Lojina throughout the entire movie. This is my all time favorite Nepali movie based on community which portrays the culture and traditions of Limbu community.
Did you know that the movie starts from Lojina putting the white flower on Numafung and ends with Lojina putting same white flower on herself which was kept by her father as an offering to the Gods which symbolize at that moment Lojina realize that it’s her turn to take on her elder sister role i.e. Lojina is next Numafung. Overall, Numafung is an all time. 2024 I'm still watching this evergreen masterpiece Movie.♥️✨

A beautiful movie about the culture, traditions and architecture of Limboo. Watching this movie reminds me of my home and my people. Beautiful piece of art done by Nabin Subba, supported with a wholesome acting from the characters. But animals were being killed for showing the genuine lifestyle of the people, which could have been avoided.
Nevertheless, Thanking You for such a contribution to the Limboo society.
