I Made My Own VW (Volkswagen) Dune Buggy Custom | Full Build

This is the full build of the custom VW Dune Buggy, built in 2020. It is the result of some leftover parts and a lot of ingenuity. The chassis is from a 1973 Volkswagen beetle. the engine is a rebuilt 1600cc Dual Port. I got this VW chassis from the Bradley GT 2 kitcar that I recently turned into a 4x4 off-road vehicle (videos on the channel). I decided That a good option would be to build a VW dune buggy using all the left over parts. The chassis was cut and shortened 22 inches. This has a custom made windshield added, which was cut from a Toyota Previa van windshield. Most of the parts are from the original VW Beetle, but it needed some additions like the diamond plate aluminum used for floors and side panels, a custom stainless steel battery box, some heavy duty military dodge headlights, International Harvester tail lights, and a bunch of other things here and there.

That little thing is FUNKY! I LOVE IT!!!
I hate modern cars because they're so complicated that you either have to take them to a mechanic or become a mechanic to fix them. A dune buggy is simple and easy to work on which would save thousands of dollars. I might consider getting one, great video man!

It was also VW powered: bus motor w/ Porsche internals, sitting on 33" front / 35" rear MT Baja Belted tires..

When I was re-doing mine, I also went w/ the 4-into-1 'teepee' exhaust, and same deal..
I didn't think that it had all that much power.. Interestingly..
I made a custom end for it using a Monza exhaust/tip, then added stacked 'restrictor plates'..
They pretty much just held in a bit more back pressure, but WOW - It was Noticeable!
[I had it when I was over at Aftermarket Effects, and we'd take er' over to the movie theater lot
and so asphalt burnouts, or just tear it up in the grass.] hahaha
Those tail lights you have Im pretty sure are fron a International travelall or pick up from the mid tolate 60s

Thank you. I don't have that specifically documented, but hopefully someday we will do a full write up on it. I'm sure you can make it happen on your chassis though.

What kind of tube bender did you use?
Great questions. Probably the most important part of the build, and we didn't film it lol. At the time I had a cheap one from Harbor Freight.
