Are group has hunted are BGU for 40 plus years and have taken many nice bulls and cows as well as big timber bucks . It's about 10 miles from any road or jeep trail ,we hunt 3rd season because the elk need to be pushed into these areas from intense hunting from 1st and 2nd seasons also snow helps the herds stay lower then 10.000 ft other than that it is a long ride off horseback but that is what it takes to get into great hunting .. Can you select the same unit for the 1st and 2nd choice for the primary draw? Will it make a difference? Also we missed the primary draw this year and plan to cross fingers we draw for the secondary. When and where does the info for amount of leftover tags become available? thanks much for the great videos!!
You could, but it won't make a difference. All first choices are drawn for a unit before any second choices are handed out. So if you don't draw 1st choice you have 0% of hitting it as your second in the same draw. Primary draw results come out end of May or early June. After that the CPW site will post leftover tags available in the secondary draw

LOL! no such thing here, this state is ruined. Unless you know someone with lots of land or twenty damn pref points good luck with any success here. Way too many tags given out and the non resident crowds are absolutely ridiculous. Nothing more than a money maker here and now with the wolves being introduced just another obstacle to deter hunting here. Wyoming doing it right, reduced non res tags effective next year thanks to resident hunters complaining over the past several years. This blue state as a whole has been ruined, hunting, fishing, camping definitely included.
We understand your frustration but it is still possible to have success in a unit that doesn’t require that many points. We were able to get it done this season with 1 point or less. You’re are right about the pressure and wolves though. It’s certainly becoming more crowded and the re-introduction of wolves will undoubtedly hurt the herd.
