It's the curse of the horizontal surface. It is a magnet for the accumulation of clutter. It's great that you now have a proper place to store everything.

Ha...yes the curse of the horizontal surface....that's what it is that's been hitting me for how many years now....lol....just can't seem to break it either.

Yes Dan, its the same here in Duanesburg NY. The car looks greenish Yellow. Terrible time of the year. Plus now the Deer Flies are out so its not going to well. I mowed the Backyard yesterday and it was like a Duststorm. Now I am Suffering today. We will make it somehow my Friend. I am still recovering so I have to watch it. Stay Safe out there and Hydrated, it that time of the year. Ron From the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.

We had the dust storm effect again here today...of course right after I finished cleaning up a bunch of stuff...ha. Yeah take it easy in the pollen filled air, that's for sure. I saw they make a hat with a dragon fly on a spring that moves above your head...suppose to keep the deer flys away...lol...might be worth a try. 😀

Interesting that you are dealing with "pine pollen" on Memorial day weekend. We go through that stage in Feb and March. Only difference is ours is yellow. Have learned just to deal with it. It will be over in a couple weeks. You have my sympathy.

Our complaint in western Alberta, Canada is Aspen and black poplar fluff. Gets everywhere and in bad years, it looks like it snowed!

Next winter I would cut the pine trees before they get any bigger

You might consider building a frame inside the deck box with a couple of lift-out trays so that you don't have to fish small stuff out of the bottom of the box.

Ahh, that’s a good idea…might look into doing that. Thanks! 🍻

WOW, THOUGHT I HAD IT BAD. HAY JUST A LIL UPDATE ON THE FIRE, IT'S PRETTY MUCH CONTAINED. SO THAT'S A PLUS... THE OAKS ARE STARTING TO GROW THE POLLEN NOGULES. LAST YEAR AFTER THE RAIN IT STANED EVERYTHING BROWN. WE HAD TO BREAK OUT THE PRESSURE WASHER AND SPRAY EVERYTHING DOWN. CAREFUL AT COSTCO; THAT PLACE CAN BE PRETTY ADDICTIVE. IN THE 21 YEARS I WORKED THERE, I GOT TO KNOW HALF OF THE MEMBERS ONLY BECAUSE I'D SEE THEM EVERY DAY. THE CLOSEST ONE TO ME IS 3 HOURS. I ALSO WAS A BAKER / PASTRY CHEF FOR 30 YEARS. AND WITH WORKING IN A FOOD ENVIRONMENT, I ADAPED A CLEAN-AS-YOU-GO MENTALITY. NOW, I KNOW THE WOODYARD ISN'T A RESTAURANT, BUT THE SAME PRINCIPLES APPLY. IF YOU PICK IT UP INSTEAD OF PILING IT UP, YOU'LL HAVE LESS TO DO LATER. GOOD LUCK WITH THE SPRING CLEANING; HERE AS WELL AS THERE, IT'S A NEVERENDING STORY. THERE'S ALWAYS WORK TO BE DONE IN THE YARD. STAY COOL PEACE...

Good to hear the fire is contained....that would not be fun having one so close. Speaking of close...yeah the Costco they built last year is about a mile away...hahaha....and yes I hear ya on setting a limit on how many times ya go!

In Florida we get the pollen in February and it last about 2 months. What you showed is about half what we get here

It’s usually only a week or 2 for us, and as luck would have it today it was dropping again so everything i cleaned off needs to be done again…lol

Looks like you better get some plans of stain/sealer on all that deck after it is washed and dried out. The treated lumber will be rotten in 10 years these days unless steps are taken to preserve it!👍 Add that to your Honey-do-list!😅

    • @Back40Firewood
      @Back40Firewood  3 месяца назад +1

Yep, that actually is already on the 'list'...lol....eventually if this pollen ever lets up. Was even worse today again...ugh! 🤬

Yep, every Spring, power wash the deck, porch, outdoor chairs, tables. Use a soap blaster attachment, coat everything with a mild solution of Dawn dish soap (environmentally friendly) and scrub and rinse. First, we use a leaf blower, makes a cloud of pollen, blow off what we can, then power wash......Everything.

HA HA, white pines having sex, makes a mess every time. We do not have white pine down here in Arkansas, but we have both yellow pine and oak, both major pollen generators, and the oaks have tassles....full of pollen, like little pollen bombs when the drop. Since this all drifts with the wind, we often see yellow clouds moving through the forest and trees. That is the way it works....you could move to the desert to have no pollen, but then you have the dust....clouds of dirty dust! HA HA Does no good to put stuff under cover, cause it all drifts in and drops. Love the tadpoles, you must have plenty of frogs and if you let them live you will have 1000s more! HA HA Other commentors are correct, a flat horizontal surface invites clutter!

Please settle an internal battle I’m having currently. If you could only have one tool would it be the Fiskars hookaroon or the logox. I understand they have different capabilities but I’m curious to hear one or the other from someone that has both. Thanks for the video!

Give the WR splitter a go that direction. I know it will change soon if its not practical.
    .
Red alder has mass pollen out west.
But its generally raining, and rarely has the wide spread affect the pines have.

Our pollen fiasco happens in March-April and it does make a huge mess. The oaks are the main culprit here. The live oaks shed leaves 3 times a year! Your place is looking great. 👍

I don't have pine pollen issues but I've got a bunch of choke cherry trees around my pool. Makes the pool pretty much unusable until late May with all the stuff the trees drop. Love my trees every other time of the year tho.
