I own 2 of these, the Posture Pump and the soft brace. I have scoliosis and I have herniated discs in my neck multiple times. The posture pump really helped the first time I herniated discs as I had little movement in that area. I would say it does nothing now that I'm recovered. The soft brace is useful if I sleep wrong. Sometimes I am so far out of alignment I need something to hold me in place. But again, when things are normal it does nothing. Happy with both purchases overall. Now I just use a foam roller.

It's a little touchy-feely, so it can only comfortably be done with the assistance of a close friend or family member, but one of the most effective posture correction reminders I know of is to have someone who happens to pass by periodically trace a large "V" from one's shoulder blades to the small of one's back. It started teaching a whole team of colorguard to self-correct slumped posture after a few days.

Interesting. Maybe it increases the proprioception (position sense) in the back

@Body Fix Exercises That would make sense. There were a few different reported sensations from it. Some people said that it made their skins feel tighter along the traced lines, so they could tell when they shifted and bent, better. Some said it was like someone anchored invisible strings between their shoulderblades and spine, so it felt wrong to sit slumped. Somehow, it did raise self-awareness.

Good timing as I was just looking at the back brace things even tho I have all others mentioned and didn't help. I really feel my posture is main culprit but sitting up straight all the time seems so tiring and can actually hurt other parts of my body.

I've always wanted to hear a chiropractor's opinion on these items because they are advertised a lot on facebook. Thanks! This confirmed what I suspected.

Don't you just adore advice given in acronyms, KWIM? Still struggling to find posture brace for profound joint laxity, but your exercises are beginning to pay off ta. That little electric gadget is highly prone to habituation, plus its only useful for desk sitters! Constantly annoying if you change angles during work.

I used that posture corrector for a while. One day I woke up, stretches my arms over my head and my whole back seized up. I couldn't turn my head or move properly for about a week. Probably best to stick with stretching, strengthening, and routine changes instead.

Yep, you can't rely on just posture correctors. Need to include all three of mobilise, stretch and strengthen.

“Your wall is your Guru” that is what my Iyengar Yoga teacher told the class nearly every lesson!!! That is probably the best teacher and corrector!! (With the exception of the one in Pisa!!)
