dude this may be your best video yet! you were able to explain so many of the tricks in an easy to understand way and kept it so entertaining! (also, rip my boy wolf link )
As long as amiibo and no amiibo separate filters, I think it should be just preference. Getting the fastest time or getting a top position without an amiibo is still as impressive as if you were to use one, as the skill it takes to perform the run is pretty much the exact same
Yeah, Amiibo/Nomiibo makes perfect sense for a category split. It's kinda like how many games have an "in-bounds" vs "out of bounds" category split (Portal comes to mind).
This was great content! I especially liked the RIP wolf link and actual lava floor. It was fun to hear a lot of the explanations for somethings I never even knew were tricks in the speed runs.
I'ma wait for people below now starts complaining about you using glitches if they haven't already... Great work, and this time will improve more and more in the next few years
Why can't you scan the daruk amiibo for the topaz earlier on in the run, like on top of the first island to have earlier resets if rng fails? Not questioning, i just want to understand why :)
I do wonder why people stopped talking about the idea of playing the intro, then either loading a GSI file or using a mod to skip the cutscene. It didn't seem to have backlash, just never got traction
@@EuropeanApple755 That timesave would be included, the idea discussed (and successfully coded) was the following: 1. Play the intro 2. When Zelda asks if you want to watch the 4 minute cutscene, select "not yet" 3. Pause the timer and load a GSI save file. 4. Add the length of the cutscene onto the time for the run
this is great content, but i def think the title could use a little pizazz. maybe the 'first' totk wr without amiibo. i don't know how true that is, but god forbid a youtuber do a little clickbaiting, ya know? loving the content from you, would love to see you keep it up.
@@dewey8015 first of all, it was just an example. i felt the significance of the video was not shown in the title. better to oversell than undersell. and second of all, lying is sick as fuck
My problem with speedrunning on Botw and Totk was always the amibo, it just takes away the entertainment, patients, and just skill looking from the viewer and it just makes the player seem lazy in my opinion.

I'm gonna say something incredibly lukewarm: The use of amiibo constitutes using an external device to gain a gameplay advantage. In layman's terms, it is _cheating._
Sorry for the mini-essay but... checking the definition, for it to be cheating it must be dishonest, inequitable, or against the rules. If the rules of the speedrun category (established by the community, not Nintendo) include the use of amiibo, then it's by the rules. If amiibo is available to everyone participating in that category (unless someone steals their amiibo mid-run then it is, or they're not participating in that category) and functions equally (my set of amiibo does what yours does), then it's equitable. If those using it report it honestly, then it's honest. To expand on the equitable logic a bit (it might sound silly at first), imagine saying that running on updated versions is inequitable because not everybody can afford internet access or wants to download updates. Or, say we had a DDR-pad category; not everyone can afford or even use one, but if we have a category specifically for it, and someone's running that category, the understanding is that they have the expected minimum gear. We don't call participants cheaters if some other people can't or won't participate because they don't have the gear. We have a separate category for people who can't or won't participate in the amiibo category, and it would only be cheating if someone used them in that other category. That said, if you were talking about casual play or speedrunning with your own restrictions... of course, you could personally consider it cheating to play with amiibo if you want to limit yourself to disk-only vanilla or something. But this isn't that :)
If a speedrun requires the use of cheat engine as part of the rules, would you consider any valid participation cheating? Its dumb to pretend that cheating exists as some absolute honor code or something out of a 12 year olds musings on philosophy. Within rules? No cheat. Prohibited by rules? Cheating.

13:28 big respect to you for shouting out some of the people that make speedrunning at this level possible. Its a group effort!
that thumbnail is genius
The editing on this video was great. Very informative but littered with humorous moments.

I like these smaller videos that explain key strategies about the speedrun. It also makes it easier to watch for many people. Great work!!!

This channel is very underrated
Great video!
Good vid. May I ask how u switch to and from old versions and new versions so easily? Do u have two switches? If so, then that's real commitment lmao

@littleworldofwhimsy wow I wish, I'm stuck on 1.1.2 (no zuggle sadge)

More videos like this👍👍
I think record filters makes amiibo fine, but non-amiibo records are still wayyy more impressive.
my goat p5
and now runs require amibo again but this time we need a rare chance of a topazzzzz

You don't have access to amiibo scans until you've completed the first shrine.

There was a clip found to skip all of Zelda’s dialogue before the cutscene saving around a minute

Amiibo is a rare commodity, but that’s because it’s hard to find them. They are actually incredibly cheap.

Can people with amibos use the strats you came up with here + amibos to just get a better time?

Now do 100% botw
I think beating amiibo any% wr without amiibo would be a clearer title, I thought it's just beating other no amiibo runs at first
