Some chose to become Warlords, and conquer the land, ravaging entire villages of people to take what they desired. While Radagast and the first Iron Lords found purpose within themselves: to be saviors of the people. To be whatever humanity needed them to be. To become Guardians. Of course, the term Guardian, and the inception of their order, came to be much later with the City Age, we still found purpose as Guardains and from the Traveler. We chose to defend humanity and Sol, in order to one day, rebuild our broken system. If it wasn’t for the Witness, we’d have never found this purpose, after the Dark Age. Ironic. Even now, with the Traveler having been damaged and given the Hive the Light, we’ve put our faith, hope and purpose in defending humanity, Sol, and our newfound allies. Even though many Guardians’ faith in the Traveler was broken, we’ve decided to put our faith in the City, humanity, and our allies. No longer are we blinded by the Light, or stumbling lost in the Darkness.
well, since the beginning of Destiny 1’s development and throughout D1 it was majorly hinted that the traveler was a force of evil which abused it’s powers of “life” and abandoned everyone it blessed before whenever the darkness came
It’s neither good or bad, it’s a pure chaotic neutral entity, so yes it blessed their species but when they sought to warp reality itself the traveler left as it could create life elsewhere. However since the darkness was always pursuing it, it left every time. It ran the simplest calculation: sacrifice a species or the universe/reality.
