- Just a quick video showing every Disciple of the Witness in Destiny 2:
Rhulk, Calus, and Nezarec.
From their introduction, to (some) of their fight, and their end.
Personally, I love the Disciples as characters as they are some of Destiny's most lore-rich and interesting villains.

Gotta love how The Guardian has canonical killed the majority of the Osmium Dynasty, a Worm God, more Fallen Kells/Barons/Archons than I can count, a light-infused Dominus, several high-ranking Cabal commanders, numerous Vex minds, an Ahamkara, three disciples of the Witness, and all the armies loyal to these entities yet still regularly dies to random sniper units in GMs

Rhulk set the bar for what a disciple should be but Calus felt like he didn’t live up to the title. He felt more like an asset the Witness exploited just to bolster it’s forces.
That’s the point, lol. Calus was just a pawn.
I felt The Witness made Calus a Disciple just as a throw away asset not so much as a longevity type disciple, and to bolster Calus ego and arrogance to make him comply.
Calus was the "means to an end" literally.
Calus was never even supposed to link the Veil to the Witness in the first place. Its plan was always to use Calus to force the Guardian to defend the Veil themselves, during which it would use our Ghost to establish the connection.
Now it has... whatever it got at the end of Lightfall and a Cabal legion that has shown to easily be made thralls since Leviathan.
i feel like the witness made him a disciple so that calus may feel like the witness’ right hand maybe
Gotta love how Nimbus could have went and grabbed Ghost BEFORE the link was created rather than standing around mindless
By that logic, capital could’ve shot our ghost instead of standing around
Or we could've used Strand to YOINK our Ghost lol.
@@BrotherShaw "YOINK" lol
@@BrotherShaw Strand pulls us toward, not them toward us
Strand is basically just a weed rope
So lemme get this straight. Nezarec, kinda easy to kill, still took 6 guardians. Rhulk, took on 6 guardians and almost won. Calus... Killed by one. I solo'd Calus with a verglas curve, and it looks like Nezarec needs decent DPS and Rhulk needs the best you got. Poor Calus
Calus was just a puppet, the real army leader will probably be xivu arath
Calus was a clown
They did Calus so dirty
@@f1fanatic241 Calus was a fool, a joke of the Disciples, he believed himself higher than me and I had to put him in his place, I am glad the guardian killed him, now I don't have to deal with him
I mean calus was never a fighter, even among cabal leadership he was weak by comparison because he had people to do his fighting for him. In leviathan, he didn't need to fight you, he had so much abundance he was just amused watching guardians fight their way through his army to get his treasure. Dinner and a show. Plus hes a hive god with his own throne world before he was a disciple, so death was just an inconvenience.
And I loved that side of calus, tbh lightfall was a massive character assassination because Calus doesn't serve, that's like his whole thing. Caitl would have let him stay if he would have abdicated and died in obscurity surrounded by wealth. But Calus doesn't serve. He would rather hoard the wealth of the cabal and play games with demigods while he waits for whoever ends up leading the cabal to show up on his doorstep and beg his forgiveness and access to his prosperity. But he overplayed his hand and the homeworld was lost to the hive when he was probably one of the only people who had a fighting chance to stop them, because hive god. Then lightfall rewrote him to be a desperate sniveling coward who would sell his soul for the opportunity at greater power.
Even accepting all this, the witness wanted his army, not him. His purpose was to die fighting us so the witness could infiltrate the veil, so him being a pathetic fighter was actually a point in his favor.
Witness at the begining of LF: Why did i bring this goof?
Calus: I'm Gorious!
Witness: i'm never work with addicts ever again
That's why he left nezerac as well

Rhulk: Composure
Nezarec: Unhinged madness
Calus: Avarice and Pride
I think there was also some pride in there with Rhulk
Eramis:Revenge (possibly? idk)
@@sozzyfox3541 For me Eramis just seems lost. Though this weeks message between her and Misraaks seems like she's made peace with her decision, or at least took another huge huff of copium that'll probably wear off again
And Xivu Arath?
@HasvenWorld i don't think eramis will become a disciple she has failed to much and is not powerful enough to become and the witness punished her by turning her house into wrath born scorn or taken
i honestly love the transition from the regular darkness theme to rhulk’s theme the first time you start the fight
"In your calmest moments, in your deepest slumbers, you will remember me Guardian..."
Yeah, they'll remember kicking your red ass.
And we'll do it again since that's what he implies. Nezarec is basically immortal as long as there are those that remember him, so we keep coming back to kill him over and over.
@@tylormobley4482 essentially, torturing him which is something he would enjoy a lot
@@TheWandererGhost i really like how they built up nezarecs story before the raid. He would basically fuck with people in neomuna by whispering. Just imagine walking and hearing some random dude talking in your head lmao
Nazarec feels like the embodiment of "we do a little trolling".
Imagine a meeting, though.
Witness: "Alright, we need a new disciple."
Rhulk: "I heard the Fanatic can be revived. He can be easily converted."
Nezarac: "Perhaps Ghaul. He was the mightiest of the Cabal, and most powerful emperor of the Red Legion."
Calus: "DID SOMEBODY SAY RED LEGION!?"
Literally everybody: "SHUT UP!"
I wish the nine would be revealed more.
Nah I wish the Pyramids had their own race, not just be empty vessels, enemies that look and are designed like Rhulk, Tormentors and Nezarec (although Tormentors are carbon copies of Nezarec ). Such a shame Bungie has not created one, my biggest disappointment with them so far.
@@EpticityOG I remember when people thought the veil were the true darkness entities
@@savageace1152 According to leaks that was the case during the Forsaken era, but that was before they changed the Pyramids from being actual darkness to wielding Darkness. But “The Veil” were at some point leaked rumored to be that 5th race, but as we know now they used it to be something else
The nine feel like a meme who's sole purpose is to not be explained properly
@@PlamzDooM they did get explained kind of if you read the Dust lore book from back in season of the drifter, the whole season was about the 9
Rhulk represents Pride, he is confident in your inability to defeat him, so much so that he saunters around the arena in a casual stride.
Calus represents Avarice, he'll do anything to enhance his own comfort and joy, yet is never satiated by what riches he has.
I think Nezarec represents Gluttony. While he's basically an unhinged psychopath that revels in the pain of others over the fulfillment of the witness' goals, he gorges himself on the powers of Light and Dark in the raid.
Xivu Arath will represent Wrath, for obvious reasons, and Eramis might represent Envy for her hatred of the Traveler and our gift of Light if she were to be anointed a disciple as well.
Gonna be an awkward raid when the next disciple has lust as their personality trait lmao
@@bret9331 don't worry I'll take them on. No sacrifices needed
@bret9331 it's gonna get a lil kinky 😬
Pretty sure they’d love to get “destroyed “ by the Witness
@@bret9331 better be a goth alien mommy with thicc thighs or i gonna have a stroke
The rendition of the Darkness theme when Rhulk reveals himself is so bone chilling and strong
Its something we don't think of often but oryx was for sure a disciple. The dreadnought is his pyramid, vowbreaker is his glaive and he got his power from the darkness (later revealed to be the witness)
The witness isn't darkness itself however it does use it
He thought he was a disciple, but he was leagues below.
I don’t even think Oryx knew The Witness existed. He was subject to his tithing to the Worm Gods, who were being subjugated by Rhulk, who was a Disciple to The Witness.
No doubt Oryx was a massively powerful entity (moreso than Calus or Nezerac) but he certainly wasn’t a disciple.
@@AubergineMans Definitely not “Leagues below.” He conquered solar systems and exterminated species. He claimed trillions of soldiers to fight in an army that followed his will alone. He’s definitely more powerful than Calus or Nezerac.
@@kasm7870 Nah. He's not even the strongest hive, let alone stronger than a disciple.
Rhulk becoming feral and letting out that roar will never be not badass. You see this calm, clever and planning mastermind Infront of you that in his hubris thinks he can topple the guardians easily, yet when backed into his corner hes unleashed. In the end of the day it's his hubris that led to his downfall, his power is almost unmatched and yet it's because of his ego that led to his downfall
I wonder how many living disciples the witness has? I mean I expected to see at least the majority of them during the lightfall campaign, attacking the traveler with the witness. If there are more why haven't they made their move yet?
Same, I assumed they all inhabited a pyramid but it also seems like alot are empty and are just being controlled by the Witness.
I feel like that The Traveller and The Witness are one being, that has been ripped into two
Really not sure how calus met the witnesses criteria for becoming a deciple when compared to the other 2 we know so far.
He probably offered The Witness something so ridiculous that he couldn't provide so The Witness agreed to make him a Disciple but just used him knowing that Calus couldn't hold up his end of the bargain
@@PenguinzFTW aren't Calus gave Witness his cloning tech?
It was the witness that met calus
Calus was never truly a disciple. He was exploited as bait so our ghost can get close to the veil

Still tryna figure out where we pulled that khvostov out of😭
Nezarec: POWER
* I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING*
I hope we get to see more disciples
BTW for those who don't know Rhulk is not dead. He is simply in a recovery, stasis like state. That's what those branches put him in. Plus lore has already confirmed that he is still alive.
where have you heard this? a year after the raid came out and your comment is the first place I've heard of it
Untrue, his recovering remains were exploded by a sparrow by a member of the hidden shortly after the events of the raid.
Rhulk > Nezarec > Calus
I wonder if Xivu is a disciple or will be? One thing has me stumped about the final shape what will they do with her, because she’s teased as much if not more than savathun was, would she be a story boss or a raid boss? Same question for the witness
the witness has to be a campaign

Well he kinda already way Starscream of the destiny universe he does constantly come back only to be killed again and again so his entire character was already Starscream

It would’ve made much more sense if Nimbus tried grabbing the ghost before he created the link, but instead of successfully grabbing it, he gets shocked/stunned by the power the witness uses. It’s annoying to see how everyone just stands there while the ghost is about to create the link.
Sucks how most of them are locked behind raids, but being a solo player does have its challenges.
Do you not want to use LFG?

I love how one of rhulk attack is just kicking you
You forget some other “agents” of the disciple, they may not be like disciples themselves, but like, the fanatic is probably in cahoots, xivu-arath and eramis, who’s actions where done because of the witness.
After all we don’t know if they have a “rule of two” or something, each pyramid in the fleet could be a different disciple, or maybe there is one for each species under the darkness’s command. Yk
Mama says Calus is so angry because has so much plaque on his teeth.
Rhulk looks like the weird tall things In final shape
you know how each disciple dies those weird thorns come out, i thought that would be a new darkness element
Caital: “destroy it!”
The Guardian: “MF who do you think is gonna have to kill the witness?”
Why was Nezarec a Former Disciple? Wasn’t he still employing the Witness’ armies to fight for him? Did he stop caring for the Witness’ plans?
He died during the first collapse and sorta did his own thing after he was ressurected using both light and dark instead of only dark
bro I just realized why didnt nimbus fly and grab ur ghost wtf
but sooner I mean
Why didn't we do that, you're telling me that the strongest guardian, a literal god killer who can trow black holes, can't fly but Ikora can?
@@GravitonLance Why didn't our guardian just fucking use the grapple that we got from strand?
8:52 this probably just me but did Rhulk have any jewels? Like the one on Nezarec’s forehead?
those are nezarecs eyes
those are the eyes of both i think
honestly i wish we werent fighting them all already. i wanted to see individual fleets lead by each disciple fighting us in various ways/planets in lightfall & final shape.
but the way bungie writes 🙄
I agree, don’t get me wrong I really liked seeing Rhulk and his story, and can’t wait to see what lore Nezarec brings. But I can’t not help but be disappointed in how Bungie since D1 teased and hyped up the Pyramid ships as the big bad of the story, then tease them again in D2 Vanilla ending. Only for them to so far be so underwhelming and be locked behind raids. I really expected Bungie to goes guns a blazing with Beyond Light in finally introducing the 5th enemy race the one attached to the Pyramids and should of shown us The Witness then too. After Shadowkeeps ending its what I expected, from the story I wanted something a new enemy race, instead we have gotten nothing but empty Pyramid ships fighting the same enemies over and over again. There is so much architecture and culture in each Pyramid ship so far, that at some point I refused to believe that there was no new enemy race inside them. But now I honestly probably don’t even expect anything for Final Shape.
Would of been more badass if we fought Rhulk with a new enemy race of the Pyramids, same with Nezarec etc. instead we get reused enemies the same ones we keep fighting over and over.
Really makes me wish they didn’t introduce the Disciples, until after we had fully dealt with the Hive, Cabal, Vex and Fallen completely( I don’t count the Taken and Scorn as they are essentially headless armies of the story). Would of been better to have had the last 3 DLCs be fully 100% focused on the Pyramid fleets, The Witness, the Disciples, a 5th enemy race, and so much more.
@@EpticityOG imo i think that it may be possible that they introduce a 5th race in final shape, it makes sense for me because we dealt with the fallen, cabal already the only other race thats following the witness thats not dealt with yet is xivu's hive which will probably be used for seasonal content, also the introduction of tormentors at LF seems off since LF is the setup for final shape so they might be our first glimpse at a new race maybe?
@@Idk-fk4mq Is it possible yes, but I feel like it’s also very unlikely at this point, they would have shown something more by now. Yes I know the Tormentors are the first official “Pyramid Unit” enemy type, they were such a breath of fresh air, and I got excited when they first got introduced during the reveal but then we later find out that they are pretty much miniature clones of Nezarec, which could mean they could just be a one off new type of enemy.
Taking a look at Beyond light we fought against the Darkness powered Fallen, with the secondary enemy being the Vex. In the Witch Queen we fought the Lucent Hive with the secondary Enemy being the Scorn and the Taken to a lesser extent. In Lightfall we fight Darkness empowered Cabal, and the secondary enemy type were the Vex again and once again the Taken to a lesser extent.
Based off that I could assume that either A. We fight the Hive but empowered with Darkness abilities, rather than their Hive Magic with the Taken and possibly Scorn taking the secondary role, although I expect it to be the Taken. B. Vex take center stage as they have not been the main Enemy Race since Curse of Osiris. With the Hive taking 2ndary role. Or C. Like you suggested maybe we do get that 5th enemy race or maybe a different pyramid unit. Plus the Hive as the secondary Enemy. But for now I lean towards A as the most likely of outcomes.
@@EpticityOG im aware that tormentors are just clones of nezarec but that could still open more possibilities for a new race like clones of older dead disciples or maybe an ancient darkness wielding race that are cloned for the Witness to command.
I also doubt that all the pyramids are just vessels, some are commanded by disciples. My theory is MAYBE there's a disciple as powerful as rhulk is and is the Witness's left hand man and commands his own race. For me that makes the most sense since nezarec is just another disciple since he has flaws and doesn't really agree with the witness's goals which includes removing pain since its a weakness. So surely the witness has another rhulk-esque disciple out there commanding the 5th race.
+ ii doubt they'll use xivu as a setup like calus in LF and might save her for another expansion post final shape
After Nezarec, Rhulk sounds like a wimp, tbh.
Rhulk and nezarec are the best disciples of the witness
Rhulk is the only proper disciple we fought. Calus was incredibly weak. Nezarec had become an abomination of light and dark and wasn't really a disciple anymore, the light of the traveller infested him and the dark was trying to reject him. Rhulk was what a disciple should be in it's prime
Rhulk is so fucking badass dude.
The phone now makes me laugh because rhulk and nazarec are both moving their heads the same way but calus is the only one that isn't
What’s creepy is their deaths are not them dying but the witness believing they’re defeated, so he kills them. That’s at least what it looks like
Kills them by putting them into a final shape I meant
anybody else feel like the witness wants the guardian as a disciple? i mean, we killed like 4 of his disciples, use stasis and strand so we already use darkness, and are clearly the only thing thats somewhat of a threat to him. it just makes sense to me
Guess which disicple was my favorite, the latest one who is afraid of meaning, the psychotic guy with a scythe, or the disciple that will literally kick you if you get too close to him
Even I impress myself sometimes
I know damn well that was a wipe at nez at the very end lmao
So if I'm seeing this correctly:
Rhulk was Composure
Calus was Greed
Nezerec was Madness
Could this mean that the next Disciple be Xivu Arath, Disciple of War?
YOU FORGOT Savathun (She is a former Disciple)
I wish they didn't just unalive off Calus. He was honestly one of the best characters in the game. Really good voice acting too! Such a shame :(
Xivu Arath may be the best disciple. She is known as the god of war. Hope to meet her in the raid Final Shape.
Honestly would of much rather have had Xivu Arath as Lightfall’s main villain. I feel she won’t get the same treatment her other 2 siblings got with their own DLCs.
Final Shape raid is Witness bro
@@EpticityOG That's what i fear, there's little leg room left for her to stretch her potential
@@brunogonzales3752 not necessarily

Wonder if Nezarec is The Witness’ son or something like that? Seems to be their fave disciple (yes, even more than Rhulk, who despite being the OG disciple was still put in charge of the dark city rather than leading the Collapse), plus they went to the effort of finding his head & building a statue of him in The Witness’ personal pyramid ship. Also, we have no clue what species either of them are. Just a theory though
3 - 0 Guardians. Disciples 0. Got a feeling they will only get harder from here now that the Witness has traversed through the veil. My guess is that this year we get more context of the remaining disciples (D.S.C/G.O.S. statue 🗽) learn more about the Veil and it's properties (seems like the Witness needed it in the initial Collapse & Savathiccky pulled a fast one on the Witness, hid it on Neptune, hence Neomuna/ Strand) Got a feeling when/if Savathiccky comes back we link up with the Lucent Hive (enemy of my enemy). Final Shape is coming together nicely!
i just want to see xivu have an actual meaningful personal presence in the game before it's too late. I am curious what the big titty statue in the lunar pyramid was though.
@@PlamzDooM maybe the witness true form?

You forgot oryx
Was never considered an official disciple
4:49 "Oye, creo que lo matamos esta vez..."
I wonder how many Disciples are left I wanna bet there are 3 left because at the end of Lightfall only 3 Pyramids went in with the Witness. I wonder if Final Shape it will one of those long campaigns seeking out The Witness's Disciples then defeating The Witness
all of the pyramids surrounding it went in, and there were 8 of them, the ones that made the formation around the traveler resembling sagira.
I loved the nightmare weapons reminds me of old time
Calus really could have been a dungeon or a thing that is harder than a raid because he had SO much potential to be a fun raid boss but instead it’s just a story mission…
Disappointed man. 😔
I keep asking myself who is the strongest disciple
Wasn’t Eramis made a Disciple after she was reborn in Plunder?
Not officially, no.
Not yet. She and Xivu will likely become Disciples assuming they don't betray the witness
@@giantslayer9335 Eramis and Xivu are a big coin toss, especially Xivu after the revelation about the Hive and The Witness in Witch Queen if she finds out who knows what’ll happen and who knows if Savathun will make a reappearance. Eramis could reconcile and join the House of Light with Mithrax, but again who knows I just don’t want to fight the Hive or Fallen again for Final Shape, I also don’t want Cabal, or Vex. So who knows what they’ll do for Final Shape
@@EpticityOG Personally I don't want Eramis to redeem herself, especially since she's the only Fallen villain left.
And i'm perfectly fine fighting fallen or hive post final shape, so long as they're interesting and unique and not the same faction copy pasted 111 times. Stuff like brigs helped with the fallen, so maybe its time the Hive got a new enemy type
@@giantslayer9335 Eramis should already be killed off though imo, she already served as the Big Bad for a DLC, and she already tried again, there’s nothing left for her to do but either be killed or reconcile, it would just be lazy from Bungie to reuse her again as a Villain.
Honestly I’ve been disappointed with Bungie with their lack to have introduced the long awaited 5th enemy race with the Pyramid ships. At this point I don’t even expect one, but it was such a wasted potential instead we got empty vessels where we fight the same enemies but in a new arena basically. Tormentors we’re such a breath of fresh air but sadly that’s all we got as the “Pyramid Units”.
Weapons for damage you used on rhulk were truly ass water
yup 😂
Does anyone else think that Xivu Arath either already is or will be a disciple?
it's quite probable
The light would have fallen if Oryx or Savathun had decided to be a witness instead of Calous.
Watch calus be a robot one again.
Question : what is this minigun wp
any bets on the next diciple? my money is one either Mara, Clovis, Eramis, maybe Xivu aswell, it would be poetic for the last hive god to become a dicple now that i think about it
im hoping its xivu arath but either eramis or clovis would be cool
Mara has made it pretty clear she wants none of what the witness is selling.
Clovis is too egotistical to submit to anyone. And eramis is following out of fear and hatred for the traveller not loyalty
@@lewismartin3430 I find it funny how Eramis acts like she has nowhere to go when Eido is still offering with open arms...all four of them.
Then again whatever power the Witness has over her is preventing her from being a turncoat or, if she is really that against the idea of House Light, going underground and disappearing
Eramis might be given the title of one but much like Calus i think she's too flawed to truly be one in the Witness' eyes since Eramis will just be doing it out of fear for her people if she defies them otherwise. Clovis was going to be a disciple i think but the Witness' might have decided against it ages ago not sure. Xivu of course HAS to be one or else it'd be pretty disappointing consider how much she's been mentioned but not actually seen or heard within the game itself.
@Sepulchre13 given how the witness reacted to calus running his mouth it clearly has no patience for insubordination

We needed some opening.. for the next expansion.. needless to talk about the rest .. which is horrible .
Man, all this lore and backstory hyping up the disciples is starting to become a detriment to the boss fights because after Rhulk, all of them are just a joke. There's too much of this "didn't go all out because they underestimated us" or "they aren't at their full power or are weakened" is the most ridiculous cop out to explain away why the boss fight was so easy or doable.
