macOS 10.14 Mojave Beta Running on Unsupported Macs
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 10 июл 2018
- In this video, I demonstrate macOS 10.14 (Mojave) Public Beta running on various unsupported Macs. As of now, Mojave works almost perfectly on most recently dropped machines, but does have a few minor issues. The main issue at this point is the lack of graphics acceleration on machines with pre-Metal AMD/ATI video cards, but hopefully a solution will be found in the future. Pre-Metal Intel HD Graphics and nVidia GPUs work pretty much perfectly, though. If you'd like to give it a try for testing on your machine, you can download and run my Mojave Patcher tool found here: dosdude1.com/mojave
Please note that it is recommended that you run Mojave on these machine for testing only, and not as your main OS. Do not expect everything to work perfectly at this time. Наука
Thank you Dosdude1 for all your hard work and give us many more years with our machines
Hi, I'm in the UK. I used your patch a week ago on my 2009 Mac Pro 4,1 (upgraded to 5,1). I installed Mojave on a new SSD and to my great surprise, it runs absolutely fine! It is also twice as fast as High Sierra also running on a separate SSD. I bought an AMD Radeon Sapphire HD 7970 (3GB) pc version (no boot screen) which is 'metal' compatible. I have had no glitches at all and my Mac Pro runs better than it ever did. My Mac Pro is a single socket Hex-Core with 32GB ram (1333 MHz). In order to install the OS, I installed a second GPU, my Nvidia GT 120, but that didn't seem to help, so I removed it. Of course, the first time I booted the system, it seemed to take for ever to reach the desktop. Many thanks for your brilliant work.
I was reading the unsupported Mac thread for a bit and I’m glad the 2009 MacBooks work, I hope mine can stick it out for at least one more update, great work!
Apple recommends that you have a Mid-2012 MacBook Pro or Air.
Ruben Aparicio yes, but he wants Mojave on his 2009 MacBook.. so :P
Are you still using patched mojave?
I kinda like that light menu bar effect! I don’t mind it. You are freaking awesome! Installing now~
Thanks to your instructions on MacRumors forum, I was able to run Mojave on my Early 2011 MacBook Pro, and I find everything pretty good. I thought the increase in menubar translucence on dark mode was a feature, because for me it's looks cooler than the almost opaque one on High Sierra. Keep doing, and thank you for your amazing work!
When I was on your macrumours thread and looking at the potential list of Macs I was kind of sad to see the late 2008 MBP not being on the list, and then I saw this video and was pretty happy! Installation was easy but it took a couple of reboots before the usb started writing to my SSD. Thanks for breathing new life into my old machine haha.
You’re back at it!
Oh sweet! I think Apple dropped way too many Macs with the Mojave update. :(
BensATechGuy agreed
Yeah
I got the Internet Download Manager installed for Downloading DMG files.
davidescion To a degree, i mean don’t expect to use the latest Web Browser, Security Patches or features at that point.
True - I was hoping to "kill" 2010 models (apart of Mac Pro 5,1) - but kill 2011 models is madness
Next macOS requirements
MacBook (2018 or later)
MacBook Air (2018 or later)
MacBook Pro (2018 or later)
Mac Mini (2018 or later)
iMac (2018 or later)

Mac Pro (2018 or later)
oh did I mention they all have to be retina display?
Team LAN hahahhahahahahahaha fuck you Apple i hate
@@danilocruz5816 im watching this on my late 2009 macbook on high sierra and it runs just fine
RIP my MacBook Pro 2017😂😂
@@icecoolice7818 😂😂😂😂
Damn apple really need real requirements now
definite will donate again , got last version from you , and sent few euros .
*especially when he is THE ONLY one person on this planet who is doing this for years!!!*
Hello Collin , Thanks for the patch mate , I'm running Mojave on my Mac pro 3,1 with a asus nvidia GTX 680 flawlessly . I think its even faster than the high sierra , I was running . I took out all the HD and installed via an external HD on to the HD5770 since the boot screen wasnt available on the GTX 680, Then swapped the Cards , now it just works perfectly . Next job is to flash the card with a mac rom so I can also get the boot screen . Hats off to you mate . Cheers. Emmany .
Just realized I was watching the install instructions for High Sierra, but went to your website and followed instructions from there originally and no problems installing it on my MacBook 2009 v 6,1. Thank you SO much! Will send a donation as soon as I am able!
Any chance you will be showing us how to update the 1st generation iwatch to the watch OS5? I don't see why they deprived us 1st gen buyers. =(
Thanks Dosdude1, your amazing and I will be donating to you soon!
nice video, thanks for your work, i will wait until the release for test it in a secundary mac.
Thank you, now running Mojave Beta on iMac Early 2009 without any problems, great job!
Excelente.... me diste esperanzas para mis viejos MacPro 2009 y 2010!... un saludo desde Chile...
Thanks Collin and Ethan!!
Got it installed on my Late 2009 Mac Mini and it works for the most part. It seems like LCD font smoothing does not work, and some of the animations or either missing or strange. Also, FaceTime isn't currently working with an external webcam on the beta. I'll probably be going back to your High Sierra patcher for now until Mojave gets publicly released in a couple months. I am, however, impressed that you were able to get Mojave working so quickly on all the computers.
do you think it can run on a macbook 4,1 (Early 2008)?
Watching this about a year and a half later, I remember when this video came out (did it on a early '08 iMac I believe.) and now here I am, watching this video from an Early 2008 MBP (Pre-unibody) with 10.14.6 Mojave, no bugs, no glitches, everything just works perfectly. I upgraded it to 3GB RAM and an SSD and this machine feels brand new. Really quite amazing for a machine that's 11.25 years old!
I installed this on my 2010 macbook unibody and even the webcam works!!! You, my friend, are a legend.
And yes, it is my main OS.
Thanks dude its soo nice that you do all this work :)
10 Apple employees watched this video...

"You can't just run patched versions of osx. Disliked and unsubscribed"
Matthew lol - I do what I want :P fite meh bruh
No
and they were all geniuses
@dosdude1 Once you run your installer and download macOS Mojave, what are you supposed to do next? I plugged in a usb and it seemed to make it bootable, but when I try it just gets stuck when load after about an hour. I have a late 2009 white MacBook
Awesome, will try on my early/late 2011 MBP17s
i love you for working on this.
I have found the DVD app shows a black screen on playback of discs when installed on a 2009-10 MacBook Pro?
what are the actual benefits (besides display aesthetics) when upgrading to Mojave from Sierra? Will future programs and applications only run on Mojave? I'm also always skeptical when a new OS is released because of all the bugs so I usually wait like a half a year before its been fully tested and reviewed.
hi friend, just think you might know that this patcher don't work on Macbook Unibody Aluminium 5.1 Late 2008 ( on your webpage, is on the list of compatible machines ), after many tries never get boot setup,,so, I get a MacBook Pro 5.5 Mid2009 and Mojave is running side by side with High Sierra, got same issue that I had with High Sierra some time ago,, all things run smooth, however I don't have night shift on system preferences, how can I solve this?? I have dual boot High Sierra/Mojave,, please feedback, cheers, thanks again,,
you are a boss ! I hope that the official release will work as well
The issues are on mid 2010 MacBook Pro:
1. Desktop mode (closing lid and using external monitor) did not work properly, it connected via mini display port, but desk top stayed "extended even after shutting the laptop lid.
2. Screen blinked during the boot up screen.
Asan S Do the problems persist after the latest updates?
Hi Colleen Thank you for your kind sharing of your patch tool. I am able to upgrade from High Sierra to Mojave on my small collection of unsupported vintage MacBook 6,1 ; MacBook 7,1; MacBook Pro 7,1 and MacBook Pro 8,1 and MacPro 4,1 firmware upgraded 5,1 with unsupported Apple ATI Radeon HD5770. ✌️😊
Thanks for all the hard work over the years. 18A336e running great on my Mac Pro 3.1 with GeForce GTX 760. A hero.
Hi Paul , I have a mac pro 3.1 too with hd 5770 , I want to upgrade the GPU to GTX 760 . Any problems so far with your setup?. How about the apply bootscreen , do you have that too?. Some say with the nvidia gpu , you cant have the apple bootscreen .Cheers.Emmany
As far as the GTX760 goes, it is off the shelf PC Card so I do not see the Apple boot screen. It works well however one issue with it. If you go in to the system preferences for desktop and screen saver the OS beach balls for 15secs or so, something is not supported. I am not technical enough to work out if this is the GPU or CPU. Make sure you have a disk around that you can put in to get into recovery mode in case SIP is accidentally switched back on. I have to say with High Sierra it ran fine with SIP enabled once it was installed and also I am not sure if the USB patches are need as USB seemed to work anyway. The big hurdle for me is that once the install is complete and the system reboots I cannot get the system to boot from the USB Mojave installer again, it will always try to boot from the freshly installed Mojave that has not been patched for the Mac Pro, the result frozen on a black screen. My solution is to take the fresh Mojave disk out of the machine and boot with only the USB installer again and put the new Mojave in to a USB dock after the system has booted from the USB installer stick. You can do the patch then and put the disk back in the Mac Pro to boot from it.
I should point out the forcing a boot from the USB stick using boot time key overrides still seemed not work, I just had to remove the fresh unpatched Mojave drive.
BACK AT IT AGAIN
You are amazing. Worked perfect on MacBook Air 6.1 on NON-OEM drive.. (Mojave) - Thank you
Question my MacBook late 2008 sleep sensor light broke but now won’t sleep when lid closes any way to bypass that light
I couldn't go to recovery mode using cmd + R, or cmd+alt+R or Select Recovery mode partition with alt key after power on,
it still showing a black screen with many lines of details of my mac
i trying many methods to login to recovery mode and no one was worked for me
i use MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2009)
thank you so much
is working on my imac 2007 really good but only the brightness is not working ?
Marvelous work. I've had an grave issue for a while now and wondering if you know of a solution. Do you know of any way to make a secondary OS X bootable USB with Mojave for a Mac Pro 2019? Some vital work items I had were 32-bit, would be amazing if I could get access to them again.
@dosdude1 : Hi Collin , I have a Mac Pro 3.1 , I was running high Sierra on it using your patcher . Then I updated to mojave and the hd 5770 card didn’t t agree .so I tried downgrading again and had problems and did a PRAM . Then I took the hd outside and formatted it. I also did the csrutil disable . Now I’m trying to install high Sierra again and the Mac is stuck at the loading bar at 100% . I tried booting from an external usb and hd. Please help me this is my main computer . I really appreciate all your help so much . Cheers.Emmany
This is incredible. Do you expect Thunderbolt graphics to work on the 2011 machines?
thet would be VERY VERY interesting - buying those PCIe risers for about £10 and ie. £20 Radeon 7770 which natively supports Metal and connect all of this through Thunderbolt
Good day all. I have been running this Mojave on my 2011 iMac for 7 months or so without a hitch. However after the last update / patch it is stuck on 100% on boot and goes no further. I have tried the usual boot options and fixes but it still fails. For now i have installed Lion on another drive and thats my boot drive but i want to try and repair my original drive as it has everything on there. Any ideas please ? Thank you
You're a genius.
I've got an iMac mid 2011 with AMD graphics😢 Hopefully it will be hacked/patched in the future. But the way dosdude1, thanks for the great work dude.
As I understand it will run ok on the Intel internal graphics on that machine ? I am not sure about apps that request switching to discrete graphics,
@dosdude1 does solutions/hacks nowadays exist that deny /ignore such requests allowing to continue to run on internal graphics ?
same, I hope Its patched
MacBook Pro 5,2 . Brightness controls don't seem to work. But can be controlled in system preference.
So, from now on, the file that is downloaded through the patch is App store version, right?
And What version of bluetooth do we need to use continuity camera normally? or do we need any extra bluetooth hardware ?
Thank you for your great work!
Trying to boot from the USB for the first time but it stays loading it loads a full bar then just stops I've tried multiple time currently it's on 2 hours sitting here just shows a full bar and the apple logo nothing else. Late 2011 macbook pro downloaded mojave through the patcher
I am able to install Mojave 10.14 on MacBook Pro (Later 2011) version without any issues. However Patch Updater application (in Application Utilities) does not recognize the latest Mojave beta versions. I reinstalled Software Update Patch per the steps mentioned under Additional Info Section to look for the latest Mojave beta versions. It does not show. Kindly let me know how do I upgrade to the latest beta release. Thank you very much for your support.
I followed your instructions and succeeded in installing Mojave on my MyBook Pro 17" Early 2008. It was fine for a while. I often leave the computer on, and reboot occasionally. At the beginning, I did reboot a few times with success, but now I cannot reboot in Mojave. The screen is stuck on the Apple logo with the progress bar, which eventually gets to the end, but that is it. I have redone the post install process thinking it would help, but no. Fortunately, I had partitioned my drive keeping El Capitan on one partition and Mojave on a new one. I have even tried reinstalling Mojave without wiping the partition first. I just wanted your input on what else I could try.
hi! I get this error : Restore Error. An error occurred while restoring the BaseSystem image to the target volume. I was trying all arable pach...and all available Mojave installers. not work. some solutions?
Hi Dos,How come os 10.14 public beta 5 doesn,t show up on software update...I have the software update patch installed but im still running beta 4 from your vidieo
I absolutely cannot believe it. You are an absolute legend mate! My jaw fucking dropped when i saw the early 2008 MacBook Pro!
It doesnr work on my white unibody mid 2010 (a1342) i downloaded the patcher, dowloaded Mojave with the built in funxtion of the patcher, installed it to usb drive, and when booting to the installer, set harddrive etc it freezed @ less them 1 minute remaining :( tryed seceral times, changed memomy/hdd but it keeps freezing everytime :( can u please help?
So I have a question how can we update after we install. I’m still on beta 4 and it says up to date . I ran the update tool in utilities and I also reinstalled the update patch and it still says up to date where I know it’s not. Thanks
Hi man I’m haven a problem getting this to work on a Macbook 2008 keep getting an error message saying “An error occurred while restoring to the base system image to the target volume”
Brillant thanks for that video! I have a mid 2009n macbook pro too
i have a compatible mbp 5,3 model and i used high sierra patcher but get a NO symbol and cant figure out why
Hey man , I’ve used your tool to put macOS Mojave on my 2009 MacBook Pro but I’ve been having trouble with WiFi , I do not know if my wi fi card is not supported, it’s just weird because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t and I’ve had this problem where my MacBook crashes and then just reboots on it’s own and this never happened before I updated it to macOS Mojave , so any help or info will be appreciated
My early MacBook pro 2011 17” doesn’t start up after restarting:( it goes to white screen, any solution, thanks
If I am currently running HS on a 2009 MacBook Pro, what will the patcher do that you have in the link above? Thanks again for your hard work.
Hey man,
love your patcher tool for mojave and i have just installed on my 17 2009 macbook pro and very smooth but do you think you could find a fix to gpu switching
because i just get stuck on a black screen when ever i try to switch gpu on energy saver and i even tried gfxcard status like you did in the video and it didn't work
do you think you could find or make an update fixing this?
PLS REPLY
I have a few questions you might be able to answer. Question 1 do you plan to add support for the macbook6,1 to the patcher? Question 2 I cant update or boot to the latest betas installer on my mid 2010 macbook pro, has any one else reported issues with that? I currently have Mojave Beta 1 installed on that machine.
Hi! I have a
Mac Pro (Mid 2010)
2 x 2,4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
12 GB 1066 MHz DDR3
ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
And when I tri to install the oficial beta it say: Installing macOS Mojave on this Mac requires that all graphic cards have Metal support and that FileVault is disabled.
should I upgrade the graphic card or is there something else wrong?
I tried also with a Nvidia Quadro FX 5800 (4gb) and still dont work
what I am looking fore is a way to install this os on a g4 for g5 system if I have to use a older version I am fine with that but need it to be as new as possible in order to download firefox
What's the highest version of macos I can install on a white MacBook 4,1 early 2008, core 2 duo 2.4ghz
Do you guys think it will work on my old early 2009 (latest gen) 24"iMac 9,1 with a non metal Nvidia 120GT graphic card?
Hey dosdude - good work again - just try to create a Boot Stick for Older 2008 MacBook - After downloading Mojave via patcher App it says error creating Mojave installer App - the files are there in Downloads - is there a way to create useable Mojave installer App from These files without downloading 6GB again ? Thank you very much
Patcher update logo is now located right on my dock..Cool..Tks again Dos..will donate soon//broke my hand..Off work
I used this tutorial and it works really good but I have an issue. All of my pictures and videos look like negatives black and purple. What can I do to fix it?
Hey Collin. I’m trying to install on my 3,1 Mac Mini and the loading bar sits for about 30 mins. Any ideas?
Would this work on an early 2011 13" MacBook Pro?
MacBookPro5,1 MacBook5,1 and MacBook6,1 here. So glad I donated, keep up the great work!
Hi, Anyone have this version dmg(beta)? i has able to install once the beta of mojave, but then i tried to install the update and days after that doesn’t work anymore.
I tried to install with the new dmg and don’t work, appears the stop symbol and is unable to install
On a mbp 5,5, I am looking for a graphics card that will be compatible with Mojave. Any suggestions?
You can't upgrade the graphics card, but the 9400M will work fine as shown.
Re installed all they patcher updates!.Running PRETTY GOOD!
I wonder if this would run on a 2008 3.1 8 core mac pro?
Tks Dos!...Will 10.14 beta be able to install future software updates?
Will this work for a mid 2007 imac with el capitan os
I wonder how much longer these old 2008 MacBook Pro's can be made to run current operating systems.
I'm still impressed to see the 2008 hanging in there!
And just when I sell off my Early 2009 iMac. Would have liked to try this out T_T
Good job though, I predicted that this would be the end of patching!
Is it possible to install macOS Mojave on a MacBook late 2009 model?
Great work!
Hi once again, I've been following you for same time, I had the chance the be able to try Sierra and High Sierra, on my Old MacBook Aluminium 5.1 late 2008,, intel Core2duo 2Ghz 6G RAM DDR3 1067GHz,, the install Usb creation process run's without any issue,,complete success,, after reboot, I got some activity on the install drive, but after detect my keyboard and usb connections seem's to stuck somewhere,, any solution for this? Is it possible that my Graphics doesn't work? I got Nvidea GeForce 9400M,, you speak about graphics in the beginning of the video,,,, but on your webpage, my Mac is on the list of compatible machines,, thanks in avance,, ;)
Hi I just did an update to High Sierra 10.13.6 on my 2009 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with GeForce 9600MGT 512 MacBook Pro and now my FaceTime stopped working, Google Chrome and Safari. The fan is also going crazy too. Just was wondering if you might have run into this issue as well or maybe if you have any fixes. I have Time Machine, but I can't get it to open to select a past state. :-(
Will this work well on a iMac 21.5 inch late 2009?
how to control the brightness of an imac 9.1 with monjave?
amazing work, mate! does anyone know from where I can download a copy of mojave installer?
edit: i've found that is in the patcher tool. thank you!
Thanks! This worked flawlessly on my Mac Pro 3,1 except for the wifi. I never could get that working.
I have disabled the Radeon 6750 on the EFI on my MacBook Pro Late 2011 (the infamous software solution to the 'Radeongate'). Should the Mojave acceleration work fully on the Intel HD 3000 then?
Yes. Just don't reset your PRAM.
So my early 2011 MBP is now revived?
Hi dosdude1! Brilliant work through the years (I'm a new fan). I have a 5,1 Mac Pro running High Sierra on an SSD. It was a cheap SSD so I bought a better M.2 SSD with a PCIe adapter to use as my system drive. I'm now learning that the firmware does not allow this.
I can't run the Mojave or Catalina installer or patch (I don't think) because I have a Radeon 5770 card, which is not Metal. ALL I want to do is somehow update the bootROM so I can use the M.2 SSD as my system drive. What would you recommend I do? Thanks in advance!
Just get a Metal-compaitble card. There's really no reason not to.
Hi Dos,Can i download os mojave now that its out yesterday from your developer patch or do i have to wait until you do it?
Do you know of any way to flash a RX 580 for a boot screen on a mac pro 5,1?
I used mirror install instead of direct
Is there gonna be any problem
Hello- I tried today Wednesday, Seotember 12 th MEZ. to download the tool . Your server seems to be down. is this true?
Mojave can run on a 2009 MacBook Pro 13inc With this tool?
@dosdude1 will you have a patcher for the full release of Mojave?
Hello, could any person recoomend me how to let the brightness work after installing the patchers? everything work except the brightness. any recommendation?
I installed macOS Mojave latest Public Beta on my old MacBook Late 2008 (5,1 Unibody). Everythings fine ... but does someone know, if there are no Transperency Effects at all on this System? On an NVidia GeForce 9400M with 256 MB shared Memory. I have got no Transperency Effects at all in Dark Mode - not in Taskbar, Menubar, even not in the Finder. Is this okay, because the Graphic Chip is much too old? Thx for Info
NOW IT WORKS - without doing something 😊
Hello there I haven’t been getting the updates what should I do
