Gaston, Love the "clean" videos! Just subscribed. Not currently having a training partner or ball machine, I'm always looking for ways to make my practice sessions more effective. I'm excited to incorporate these progessions into my sessions on the court. I can very much see the value of periodically coming back to these drills to ensure one's strokes are clean and remain so. Thank you!
Hi Geoff, Welcome!! I understand and that’s the situation of a lot of people, that’s why I always try to give resources to train alone, but it isn’t always possible! Oh yes, it is veeeery important at any level and I want to make people aware of that! Thanks!

Hello again from Canada! Another excellent video Gaston. I enjoyed how you break down the bio mechanics of the stroke. "Clean" forehand is right. Do you use the same racket head speed on every shot (low ball, high ball, short)?
Great videos and wonderful drills. Quick question for number 4 at contact where should our right shoulder be? Parallel to the right shoulder I always thought it should be ahead of left shoulder.
Thanks for useful video. Tomorrow morning I am going to start working on your exercises to improve my forhand. It is really frustrating. My level is 4.5 and I had very solid, powerful but flat forhand which was my weapon ( I use continental grip) but I was trying to adopt a little more topspin on it and I lost it completely. IT is not clear and I am hitting a little to close to my body now , I think because sometimes I use a wrist to much to help out with followthrough . On the other hand my one handed backhand is great and I never had any problem with it.I hope you exercises will help my solve my problem. All the best from Toronto.
Hey thanks! That part is to isolate the work of the hand on the acceleration process since a lot of people hit with a stiff wrist just pushing with the entire arm! :)
Stiff wrist pushing the ball? 🎾 That’s me! Thanks for clearing it up. A video where you discuss hitting versus pushing could maybe be beneficial. You could also further expand on your great tip from the “killing short balls video”, the one where the tip of the racket has go through the spot that you want to hit to 👍💥
@@ConnectingTennis In these exercises you don't mention anything about legs, hips, rotation or have an exercise for this aspect of swing. Any particular reason? How much do legs and core contribute to your swing for a "heavy rally ball?"

Hello Gaston, l have been following your channel for the lasts months and this is my first comment so far. I have to say once again great excercises and well explained. I look forward to watching the “clean backhand“ video soon. Though I assume it's more or less the same excercises just on the backhand side. Am I right? Anyway, keep up the good work and once again thx for all the great videos. It's really a shame that I live in Germany, would love to have a few coaching sessions with u in real life.
Hey Robert, I am happy you found me and I am happier that you liked my content! Just humble advices trying to help players to do better! Yes, for 2 handed it will be pretty much the same, some different ones too.. For the one handed there are some different ones definitely!! Germany, that's great. If I ever go there, I will let you know for sure! :) Thanks!!
@@ConnectingTennis Hello Gaston, thx for the quick reply. I play a one handed backhand and would appreciate a video with excercises for it, too. If you ever come to Berlin it would be great to meet eachother. The head coach at my tennis-club is from Chile, btw 😉.

Hey Gaston, I recorded a short video clip of me hitting some balls. You offered to have a look at it and I would really appreciate your opinion. Where can I send it? Best Rob
@@robertstolzenburgramos3051 Hey Rob! You can uploading it into a google drive and share it with me (gaston@connectingtennis.com).. or upload it as "unlisted" in you tube and send me the link by email! Thanks!
Gaston, I appreciate your excellent advice here, however keeping my racquet elbow up and out is more natural for me and I find keeping the elbow close to my ribcage somehow restricting. Perhaps I should persevere? I look forward to more of your insights! Gordon
Hey! Thanks!! If that's more natural to you, then you should keep it and work/improve using your technique. Keep that part of the elbow, then the follow through you can use the advices! "Create the best with what the players has" :) Happy to help!
Please show more/closer detail of the wrist/hand action in Step 2 of Exercise 1.. It's very tricky and easy to get wrong or get hurt. Creating the backswing layback or lag position to contact is where many people lose control. Then they can't do the correct hand action at contact. The wrist is a complex joint and the racket grip obscures the wrist action you use. The wiper movement is not correct, you are not doing that, you mentioned that in a previous video. Many "coaches" mess this up as you mentioned.
Hey! I personally like the 315. 290 it's too light for me. The 290 is clearly a racquet for starters or people without too much power into the ball. If you are a player that is training more and competing and of course want to have more "real" impact on the ball, then 315 it is. Thanks! :)
Hi, I begning see your vídeos today. Dec 19. Your metodology is Very clean and simply . Very Nice! I Will pratice tomorrou with my friend. Many thanks .Henrique Esteves FM São Paulo Brazil
Yes you "would" open the arms a little more when hitting a real forehand.. this is TO CLEAN the technique and understand the path of the swing. Now, Federer is the only person in the planet that hits the forehand with the grip and technique he hits, I know many people wants to hit like Federer, but it's not the model technique to teach! Thanks!!
Also, I saw the video you sent me.. You definitely need to work more on the footwork. You are waiting the ball facing the court and there is no rotation before hitting, practice the drills of this video. Always from less to more! :)
You put a ball under your arm pit that will not elevate your elbow. I have seen coaches telling their students to keep elbow elevated for more power and consistency!
Hey! So, let's think together. How many players on the tour today hit with the elbow up over their shoulders? probably 3-4... Don't believe that the position of your elbow will give you more power or consistency.. Kyrgios hits like you mention and hits so hard, but Del potro also hit hard and keeps the elbow down. What's important on the technique is that it won't hurt you on the long term. Coaches or players try to copy what they see on the TV, and that's dangerous (sometimes). Thanks for the comment and let me know if you have any other question!
I think It all comes down to how relax you are while hitting your forehand. As long you are not getting jammed with elbow tucked in it will work just as fine as elbow elevated. But in my personal experience when I elevate the elbow I swing more freely. Tell me if I am wrong?
@@mhammadhumayoun Yes I agree that it goes person by person and how it feels.. the relaxation of the arm is also relative, some players play so relaxed and some others need some tension to function which of course in the long term impacts the muscles. You might feel that yes, like I said, it goes with each body. BUT, the biomechanics of the forehand by the books is taught with the elbow down.. I have seen kids getting injured by copying Kyrgios forehand, shoulder couldn't handle it.
Thanks Gaston, will add these to my daily routines. Please do the same for the backhand.
Thanks!! Sure I will do for more strokes!
