Thanks to Professor Subhash Kakji for the beautiful talk. I have only to add that though the British had done great injustice to us, we have to realize that somehow or other, the British succeeded in benumbing the Indian scholarship
to such an extent, that our scholars are yet to discover the truths, which were misinterpreted during the British Raj.
For exampe, the Indian texts like the Surya-Siddhanta tell us that the Winter Solstice moves +/_ 27 degrees from the midpoint of the Sun's entry into the Makar rashi. That is why the Makar sankranti is observed at the mid-point of the precessional cycle, i.e., at the time of entry of the Sun into the Makar rashi, Now a days the Makar Sankranti is observed ~24 days after the Winter Solstice, whereas in the Mahabharata times it was the other way, i.e., the Winter Solstice occurred at 21 degree of Makara rashi. Mahatma made sure it did not happen by his nonviolence and satyagraha movements. He was recruited by Brits to delay freedom and to recruit Indians for both world wars. 3 Lakh Indians died in world wars.

@@juncando Vast majority of British people left india in 1947. Probably more than 95%; I don't have the exact number. True that they had businesses in india. But very few British people stayed back in india. That itself is a smoking gun. If india was so peaceful, why most of the British people left india in a hurry ? They were frightened by the naval mutiny but they wanted to hide their embarrassment.

U can find it reference in RigVeda,Eran Inscription @ M.P during Gupta & later on.
But the important point is it is always voluntary in nature like In Ramayana after Dasrath death Sati wasn't committed by his 3 Wives.
Later due to rigidity & orthodoxy brought by Abhramic invaders turned this practice as compulsory.
Although very few cases found in entire literary tradition of 2000 years.
Thus in flow of ruthlessly neglecting this tradition adopt a more Rational-factual approach...

Hindus do themselves a disservice by being defensive about Hindu festivals. Hinduism is rich in tradition and diversity that is reflected in the many festivals.
Varna and Jati are two different classification. Varna is an occupational classification. Jati is a community classification. Caste is Portuguese term that got overlaid into Varna by the British and made hereditary.

Jaati is more related to a particular Occupation.

There has always been hierarchical mobility of a particular jaati in Varna System,one jaati can easily change its Varna.
Eg of above statement-
1st- Shivaji belongs to jaati having sudra Varna later when he acquired Military skill & proved his leadership ability he along with his members of Jaati converted to Kshatriya Varna (Procedure/Ritual to change Varna is in Yajurveda).
2nd- In South many dynasty have yadav jaati origin including famous Vijaynagar empire meaning yadavs belong to Kshatriya Varna but today they r part of sudra Varna indicating flexibility in Varna change (declination in order ).
3rd- After various won battle during earlier time Gond jaati changed itself to Kshatriya Varna(Presently they r STs).
4th- Recent example - Swami vivekanand belongs to Kaystha jati which was in sudra Varna 1 century before but today kaystha in General category.
So Jati changing its position in Varna System meaning every jaati can acquire any Varna status & thus every1 take pride in his Jaati.
In 1872 census Herbert Hope risley head of Racism dept of UK,forcefully assign a particular Varna to each jati.
limiting their possibility to uplift in social order & bringing rigidity in System thus peddling Social justice & caste discrimination narrative.
HH Risley considered jaati as racial trait & Aryans as invaders which created Varna System.
Whole Aryan Invasion theory is nullified based on Gentical proofs.
