@rachelharrisonsund I'm new to KDP. Can you guide me as to what you mean about adding a copywrite to the interior of your book? I'm just learning and I don't clearly understand this. Do you have a video that goes into this? If you use the basic paid level Midjourney AI to generate the colouring pages and reverse check that no other version exists, how do you add a copywrite and what should it say?
Dear, create your own server and make you life way easier! Just click on the + sign, give it a name, choose your own robot and work on your own space :)
MidJourney (especially v5) is absolutely huggeeee. I've created about 20 coloring books this year using AI and some sell quite well. It's the same as always, focus on a niche and create a great product for the best chance of getting sales.
Here's the problem I keep running into: It creates pretty small images (only 1024 pixels x 1024 pixels). When I try to upscale them with beta upscale, it adds weird detail.
Do you mind sharing if you do anything to promote them after you publish them? I would think that just creating and publishing is not enough to see the results? Does one just sit back and watch the sales come in? I have yet to see a video that shows the further steps.
I thank you very much for your advice at the end of the video because it was exactly my main concern. Actually, I did it even before to hear you talking about that because my sister told me to do it. She is a Graphic Designer. I went to Google to search the images I created on AI just to check out if they were somewhere else. I think your advice to reverse the image would be an extra tip to take care of your work if you want to publish and not have any issues with copyright. I mean, to make some variation from the original created in the AI in order to get more original as possible
I did and test printed. At first glance it looks very nice and the background seems to be white. but when I bring the image generated from midjourney to print, the background is not white. Have you tried printing? Do you have a way to make the background white? I tried adding ' white background' but no success.

The copyright issue is not going to be found using Tin eye because, as I understand it, users upload images as starting points for the AI software which they may or may not own the copyright for. Great images Rachel, thanks for sharing! Hey I'm new to kdp and I have one small question. Do I need to place a blank page between coloring pages when making a coloring book? Thank you.
You select upscale which is the U1 to U4 that you will see. Pick the one that corresponds wit the image you want to single or select all 4 to upscale if you want all 4.
Yes. Literally thousands of people are making and publishing hundreds of thousands of coloring books now on KDP using this method. Nobody is making any money anymore because the market is over saturated
Hey Rachel, what advice do you have for any pro illustrator creating their own coloring book? Abandon any idea of doing their own drawings and become a Pro Prompter instead?
If you're a pro illustrator I'd recommend creating the images yourself and skipping the AI (unless you really want to use it). These image-generating AIs are amazing, but it's a swiftly evolving space and we still don't know how KDP might restrict their use in the future. Midjourney comes second place to utilizing your own skill (if you have that skill, which I don't), in my opinion.
@@RachelHarrisonSund Thanks Rachel. As a pro, the threat to your livelihood is very real. Using AI and editing its images may be the only way to compete with the tsunami of image content KDP material from non-creatives. Ironic times when an artist may be commissioned to fix and edit a prompter’s AI images. Personally I’d like to see royalties paid to any artist’s work (possibly hundreds of artists per image) used in any commercially used images.
Do your own illustrations if you have the skillset. The copyright on these AI produced images is still not clear as many users are nicking stuff off the web to use as starting points for the software to use as source material. You will always have the copyright on images you produce yourself which seems way safer to me.
AI generated art can be a powerful tool in the hands of a skilled artist. You can use it to create comps or turn your sketches into a finished piece or use it as is and add your own elements. So much to explore and discover. I’m definitely going to learn everything I can about AI. It’s a whole new way of working.
@@Stressbreaker999 Though the AI doesn't work by patchworking the work of hundreds of artists in one picture. Not how it works. It's like myself and any other artists, along our journey we have been inspired by different styles and artists and evolved our own way along the way. You can't look at a picture you made and estimate how much % is from which inspiration or technique you've learned here and there. Kind of the same here.
Everyone can view your creations, even if you create your images using the chatbot on a private server. However, no one can repost your images without your permission, nor can they use them for commercial purposes.
Yes, everyone can use whatever image you create in MJ, unless you are on a private plan, even with a paid plan MJ itself can use your images if it wants to. You are creating these images in a public space, so why would they be just yours. It happened to me in real time while i was creating something. That is why i stopped using MJ.
Interesting. I think people are expecting Amazon cracking down is the threat to this biz, but frankly, if it's this easy for you to get in and create a page in one minute, the consumer is going to catch on and generate their own in the same time. Instead of looking for free coloring pages of a princess or dragon to print off for my kids, I am just going to ask them what they want and type in the simple prompts. That is, till they start typing in their own. I think this business model already is obsolete.
by this logic the fact that you can now generate music with AI means that all music is obsolete because people can just go onto one of the apps and generate what music they want. Also you can harvest nettles from the hedge so by now selling nettle tea bags shouldn't be a thing - but it is. People are paying for someone who has put the thought into designing a coloring book with themes. Ive tried it and - trust me - to actually get a coherent 50 page coloring book and design the cover and do A+ content is certainly a 'project' that will take multiple hours (yes she say in under 60 mins but she didn't even do the cover for the book or any of the other things that will require quite a bit of time- and she chose the first theme that came into her head rather than spending time researching niches and keywords. compare all that versus someone taking 30 seconds to click 'buy' on Amazon and it arriving at their door versus spending ...even 1 hour compiling all this (and as said it will be much more than this). There are a huge amount of people who will pay less than $10 rather than spend several hours. You wrote this comment 1 year ago - I just checked today and coloring books (AI and hand drawn are still selling like crazy)
-go to the right side of screen - right click “midjourney bot” -click message Now you have your own “channel” - type “/settings” this will allow you to go into stealth mode allowing you to keep your creations only for your own view. Not sure if you have to have a subscription
cool contend! But you can go private with the midjourney top plan. Nobody then sees your images. About coloring books, are these made hardcover only or also paperback? Does paperback work for kids?
This was great - however, I am trying to understand how the images went from Discord to Mindjourney. Is it connected or were they downloaded from Discord then uploaded to Mindjourney??
It's connected and sends them to your Midjourney account automatically. When you sign up for an account on their website, it asks you to sign in with your Discord. You don't need to manually do anything.
I think a big issue with this is that animals seem to have too many toes. If you really inspect your coloring pages there is almost always something wrong.
The frustrating problem I have, and I noticed you didn't mention it, is the grey shading that appears in these images. When a good portion of your picture already is colored in with grey shading, I can't imagine the person trying to color it is very happy. The AI is just not smart enough not to do some shading when generating the images.
Thanks, this is a great video, I am beginning to create Coloring Books for Amazon KDP with IA, I am using playground and I made a video for YT in spanish explaining the whole process, regards from Mexico!
It's against Midjourney's Terms to use other people's images without their permission. If you see someone has used your image on KDP you can file a copyright infringement claim.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, but we should keep in mind that the technology is still not perfect - look at their paws, many of these dogs have 7 fingers and it looks weird ;) And the first dog (with frisbee) had 5 legs. Many people who buy coloring books are complaining about this kind of errors.
Do amazon promotw these types of AI generated books or after sometime it will ban the account of the AI supported authors? I see genuine authors complaining about this .
Always take notice that AI never gets the proportion right so you need to look at actual pictures of reference! This is why I do not support AI over traditional or digital art.
Are they going to get past the AI created new rules they are coming out with? I know text is easy to tell but what about art. I'd hate to have my book de-ranked or loose an account over using this. Halppp
NO, that's not what my gallery looks like. I cannot figure out how to use midJourney!!!! I've already created the Discord account. What am I doing wrong?
I noticed you had advised your viewers of adding in a copyright page when preparing these AI-generated images for a KDP book... I think you might be wrong in providing that advice, as from what I understand AI art has been determined, by law, as not being copyrightable. I also think it is only right to let your customers know, in the book's description and title, that what they will be getting is AI-generated work so that they can make an informed decision before purchasing the item.
Actually there is a case in New York that a completely generated book with pictures from MJ was able to be copy written. he presents a RUclips video with certification and all
Have you published any of these colouring books using your KDP account? The reason I ask is because from watching your videos you seem very careful on what you publish through your KDP account.
"Hi, nice video! if I publish my book (mandala book) on amazon kdp, does it have to be stated in the book what I used to make the drawings? Midjourney, Canva etc. Thanks!" I asked him this question twice, but he immediately deleted my comment xD so it shows a bit dubious things in my opinion...
No, I haven't published any colouring books on my account. This is the first colouring book interior I've ever created, as the process seemed too labour-intensive before this AI came along. We'll all need to be mindful when using AI and keep up to date with both Midjourney's and KDP's Terms as this is a rapidly evolving space.
No, you don't need to state what you used to create the drawings. If you're using free artwork that requires attribution, however, you will need to attribute the work to its author.
Have you taken Midjourney for a spin yet? Let me know in the comments!

How do we use mudjourney on a tab?
Thanks😊
2:17 are you familiar with the many complaints popping up in colouring Facebook groups in regards to these AI coloring pages?. As someone who colours, I see numerous fundamental flaws on these images. I’m guessing you’d either need to be a coloring page designer or a coloring book consumer to see them. ppl just trying to sell books might not even be aware of the glaring issues. I’m guessing Amazon will be cracking down on them as the negative reviews start rolling in.
Hi there! This is Reema, Rachel's assistant. Rachel talks about this at the end of the video :)
Yes I agree. I love coloring books but people like those commenting here are flooding with the market with low quality AI garbage.
@@SunnyWinterz same happened to video content, RUclips 5-7 years ago was great but now it’s 80-90% mass produced garbage 🗑️
I’m in a group on Face Book for colourist & I can tell you that we are appalled at what your doing. We will be getting as much support as possible to get this stopped.
@@ALH.Poppins We need to start a petition to Amazon to have them do something. At the very least, separate the AI books from the actual artists.
HEY to the guy asking about lining up a shallow die on the second pass - mark it with a sharpie right across the die and metal, you'll be able to align perfectly! (sorry for the delay in answering, I had to go create an acct to comment.
4:02 starts the ACTUAL information for coloring books prompts for MidJourney if thats what you're her for.
Copyright issue or not after using that site
Great images Rachel, thanks for sharing! Hey I'm new to kdp and I have one small question. Do I need to place a blank page between coloring pages when making a coloring book? Thank you.
Yes you do
Very good, thank you!
Do you mention in a book that images were AI generated or do you use some penname of an "artist"?
how do you separate the pictures to singles from the group of four in Midjourney? thanks
You select upscale which is the U1 to U4 that you will see. Pick the one that corresponds wit the image you want to single or select all 4 to upscale if you want all 4.
Actually, I cannot find anywhere this newbies channel. I do not have that option. I'm so confused.
Can you remind me. Can the coloring books use a Amazon ISBN? It’s been awhile since I have published and everything used to have an ISBN.
Yes, you can get a free ISBN for coloring books, but not for "low-content" books, like journals, planners, etc.
What about when the images have extra limbs/paws/fingers/etc?
Have you had any issues with resolution?
Does amazon kdp actually accept coloring books with interior pages and cover created by midjourney AI? Thank you to who will answer.
Yes. Literally thousands of people are making and publishing hundreds of thousands of coloring books now on KDP using this method.
Nobody is making any money anymore because the market is over saturated
Have you figured out a prompt for midjourney to have it color in one of the pages to make the cover?
So does everyone in that chatroom, can they all publicy view and access the coloring pages that you create?
I think this business model already is obsolete.
right? no point in hiring any artist ever again. it's such a shitty gold rush they have no idea what they are doing Dx
by this logic the fact that you can now generate music with AI means that all music is obsolete because people can just go onto one of the apps and generate what music they want.
-go to the right side of screen
- right click “midjourney bot”
-click message
Now you have your own “channel”
- type “/settings” this will allow you to go into stealth mode allowing you to keep your creations only for your own view.
Not sure if you have to have a subscription
You can convert to vector graphics too.
Do you not have your own server with the MJ bot?
There is no free trial anymore :(
I created my own thread so I didn't have to try to find my stuff in the middle of everyone else’s. Big time helps!
Oh, and /remix is great, as well. Basically it gives you the option to add or change the prompt when using any V button.
cool contend! But you can go private with the midjourney top plan. Nobody then sees your images. About coloring books, are these made hardcover only or also paperback? Does paperback work for kids?
OMG!!! This is amazing!! Thank you sooo much for all that you do!!! :)🌺🌻🤗
Thanks for watching! Will you be giving this a try on KDP?
@@RachelHarrisonSund I’ve already signed up! 🤓🤗📕📕📕💙
Curious why you don’t add midjourney to your personal server in discord? It keeps your feed separate and private
So many steps to sign up, from app I couldn’t figure out how to get to where you are, so frustrating
I just want to make my illustrations black and white for a coloring book. I keep getting new images.
Puppy has so many legs 😂
I could not see what was happening on the screeen. Words and numbers was to tiny for me.
yes its possible but style and stroke size are NOT consistent
so can anyone see and steal your prompts/images?
You can make your own server and add the bot to it! Then you can have a private feed
I think a big issue with this is that animals seem to have too many toes. If you really inspect your coloring pages there is almost always something wrong.
Can you create coloring page from you own photos?
Can you help us with how to create copyright pages?
Your question does not make any sense…
@@pat4005 At 14:48 in the video you said to add a copyright page, is that something you can help us with?
The frustrating problem I have, and I noticed you didn't mention it, is the grey shading that appears in these images.
When a good portion of your picture already is colored in with grey shading, I can't imagine the person trying to color it is very happy.
The AI is just not smart enough not to do some shading when generating the images.
Anyone who loves colouring would appreciate this it’s called greyscale! A lot of artists love coloring greyscale!
This is the New way and connect it with Chat GPT
Thanks, this is a great video, I am beginning to create Coloring Books for Amazon KDP with IA, I am using playground and I made a video for YT in spanish explaining the whole process, regards from Mexico!
How do you keep from others taking your pictures because then it'll be a duplicate of your book.
It's against Midjourney's Terms to use other people's images without their permission. If you see someone has used your image on KDP you can file a copyright infringement claim.
@@RachelHarrisonSund Thank you so much for the reply.
You’re so right
Actually there is a case in New York that a completely generated book with pictures from MJ was able to be copy written. he presents a RUclips video with certification and all
🥰🥰
Have you published any of these colouring books using your KDP account? The reason I ask is because from watching your videos you seem very careful on what you publish through your KDP account.
"Hi, nice video!
if I publish my book (mandala book) on amazon kdp, does it have to be stated in the book what I used to make the drawings? Midjourney, Canva etc. Thanks!"
I asked him this question twice, but he immediately deleted my comment xD
so it shows a bit dubious things in my opinion...
@@RachelHarrisonSund yes absolutely agree about being mindful. Thank you for replying.
You're using v5, aren't you?
create your own server in midjourney, more work when you dont have one.
i have just come on to this and there are no "newbies" bots?
If you were to message Midjourney bot directly you can turn on stealth mode and no one can see what you are creating
Also you don't have to deal with other people's creations in the feed
Not sure its giving free trials at the moment...or maybe it just doesn't like me.
Can other people take your images in discord?
The problem is that there are many penniless pensioners like myself who can't afford to pay for monthly payments. 😢 Canva is free.
