It's been pointed out to me that there is (or was) a "comfort pack" for the i30N, so you can get (what we think are much better) seats with lumbar support and more adjustment. But you can't select it via the website, and it may not be available. Check with your dealer.
Not for the manual though. Important point. Edit: Actually, not at all anymore - this was an option for the pre MY25 models. If you spec a car on Hyundai's website there is no "comfort pack" option.
@@inCARnationAustralia No problem. From memory, the pre 2024 models had a comfort pack (which gave you those same seats you mentioned) but it was only available in the DCT (for whatever reason). Manual it was a bucket seats or nothing. Now, I do believe the standard MY2025 i30N (so not one of the premium models) has different seats and not the bucket seats. I don't know what they are like though.
It's unfortunate that both times you've reviewed the i30n hatchback they've supplied you with the premium. I would've been interested to know what Mark thought of the non-premium seats which come with 4 way electric lumbar support, the ability to lengthen and shorten the seat base to support your legs and adjustable head rests. Yes, you get all that with the cheaper model !
Not according to @theaustralianconundrum. He drove a 2009 R32 apparently so he is an expert on modern day DCTs! They are no good, just ask him (and then run, as he seems a bit batty)...
Great cars I own a 2020 manual model and regularly track it super fun and very capable, I'm at 30k with 100s laps track laps with Zero Issues well done Hyundai 👏 ✔️
I've owned this exact car for almost 3 months now and I agree its an excellent car to drive. The Speed Limit Alert and LKA are both quite obnoxious and ironically more dangerous to turn off while you're driving. Hyundai needs to bring the update to this car to allow us to hold the mute button to change the Speed Limit Alert to info only. The digital dash is nice here but its also not very functional. The whole point of one is to get good customisation and useful features in front of you. But all this does is change colours. On a similar note, the N mode dash is cool but its not what you want when going for a cruise, but you are forced to use that track focused setup even in N Custom mode (just let me pick what cluster option I want Hyundai!)
You can disable the lane keeping by holding down the lane keep button in the steering wheel right button cluster, for about 3 seconds. Much easier than going through the menu. For speed limit alarms, i just turn off the alarm notification, but still allow the car to read the speed limit signs and display the values in the dash.
I’ve owned 2 manual I30N’s and a DCT one. They both have their plus and minuses. The DCT is a monster and I wouldn’t go back. Now have a A45S and the gearbox is spot on.
Driving the DCT i30 N FL, courtesy of the dealer, and it's great! I have it while I'm waiting on my new PDe6 Premium Manual to arrive in mid January. Honestly, as good as the DCT is? I can't wait to jump in the manual.
Yeah, while DCTs are probably faster on a track, for me a proper manual is always more fun and rewarding. Similarly the auto blip to me diminishes the experience of actual connecting with the car. Real manuals have 3 pedals imo.
You still have to use the clutch. And rev-matching turned off by that red button. On the DCT car, that button is the NGS (the somewhat cringingly named N-Grin-Shift) button.
Surprising to see how much is included in the facelift standard i30n that used to be "Premium only". Front parking sensors Auto dimming interior mirror Privacy glass Rain sensing wipers Nowdays only 3 items differentiate the base manual i30n and an i30n Premium without sunroof. The heated N light seats, heated steering wheel and Solar control front windshield. For those 3 items you pay an extra $3700.
I’ve never driven or been in an i30n with DCT so I can’t comment on its effectiveness but I went for the manual and feel no need to go DCT. I have taken mine on track and it’s certainly not lacking in performance. The only reason I would go DCT is if it’s going to be a daily car.
We drove it a bit too vigorously to be able to give real world figures, but the numbers Hyundai quote aren't particularly frugal. Combined 8.5 l/100km, urban pretty high at 11.5 (which is only 20 mpg) and country 6.6. Quite a difference between city and country. And only a 50 litre tank.
@@mharro88 I doubt it. They always give us cars in superb condition but it's possible that whoever had it before us didn't do the right thing. Journalists tend to treat them like renters. Not us!
Looking to buy one soon but can't find anything relevant in terms of mileage for normal highway (130kmh) and cruising. I know that foot down most likely you won't get anything under 15L/100KM, but the normal consumption is something nobody has the answer to.
I have the fastback FL with MT. It's 10 -11 liters/100 kilometers, depending on how you use the right foot.😉 This includes some high speed driving on german autobahn and some sporty driving on B-roads in our wonderful hilly region outside of bigger cities. Really love it. Best shot for the buck. Hope this helps a bit.👍
Sadly we live in a regulated country where 110 km/h is the national limit (some rare exceptions to 130). But I would be surprised if you didn't get at least 12 l/100km or better cruising at 130km/h. Sorry we can't help
why is the interor the same is my only complaint, the dash looks way better in the i30 sedan and i20n, however this just has the shitty entertainment system stuck on like it was an afterthought
Ummed and arred about buying one. In the end, really didnt want to lose $20k over the next 5 years. Might aswell spend that money on some porsche track days
I tend to agree. Some DCTs are a pain (like in the old Golf I'm driving at the moment) but the Hyundai one in the i30N is good. Even just day to day driving.
You can get the elentra n seats in the i30n hatch as an option. Thats what i would do! I find the i30n sports seats too uncomfortable - im 6 foot 3 and they offer no support for me.
Somehow these sound like an old Silvia with a hole in the muffler 😂.. technically sounds 💩 as for Auto and manual.. auto is better as lesser issues.. and Very few can or know how to drive a manual geared car, the people I have seen on and off track are always in the wrong gear 😂 Cheers from SA 🇦🇺🏁

The weird molding on the rear bumper at 13:11 and the support brace at 13:37 aren't new with the facelift model.
Every car I’ve owned until an N was manual. The DCT was just too fun and I’ve been doing a lot of sim racing with cars with paddles.

How do you compare the seat comfort to the 120n ?
Always great, real-world reviews. I would be interested to know if someone has fitted the i30 Sedan N seats to the i30N Hatch...
Might be an unfair comparison but how does Mark find this car compared with his mk3 megane rs? Also please review a mk4 megane rs 300 one day!

So to be clear, you lads reckon the seats in a i30 sedan N are better than the buckets in i30N hatch? Comfier? More support?
Yes more adjustment all round and much more supportive to me at least ! They would weigh a lot more though

Did you fill it with 98? Seems odd that the throttle response isnt there. Certainly is in the sedan N
Almost certainly. It came with a full tank from Hyundai but I did top it up with 98, after the shoot with Mark.

No, both manual and DCT have non-adaptive cruise. Something of an omission these days.
