No actually there is something new here. The condition know as 'get-there-itus' is well know in the aviation industry, ans the pilot was known to take unnecessary risks. We knew it was spacial disorientation. We didnt know why, though. Now we do. No patience.

It's been 3 years and I still don't understand how this happened. Even with fog there are so many instruments that help you fly in bad conditions if you MUST fly in bad weather.
Instrument flying is an acquired skill, not a natural one, and it must be maintained with regular practice or else it can degrade significantly, even to a fatal degree. The evidence in this case suggests a pilot out of practice for instrument flight in actual conditions. In addition, once affected by spatial disorientation-a physiological condition-then a pilot can lose the ability to “read and heed” the instruments at all. Sadly, this accident’s cause is a very common one in aviation-VFR flight into IMC, followed by spatial disorientation, followed by loss of aircraft control.
The question no one has asked is "why was the pilot flying at 150 mph in such poor weather?" One of the helicopters greatest attributes is its abililty to hover. The pilot could have slowed that helicopter to a hover and literally walked the helicopter down the side of the mountain. the whole while maintaining visual reference to the ground. The pilot reportedly had lots of experience. But how much experience did he have flying in marginal weather conditions? Obviously not enough, or the crash would never have happened.
150mph is not that fast for a helo and saying about walking down the side of the mountain descending with slow speeds and dropping down fast will cause vertex ring state easily which will make the helo descend in an uncontrollable rate and even when you talking about hover the helo needs to flare off speed and the pilot must lower the collective or the stress of the rotor blades will make the rpm slower in which makes the helo lack the ability to fly the helicopter plus the altimeter is not accurate when you are at mountains it is because for example you are flying at 100 meters but when you fly over maybe a 90 meter mountain the altimeter will show you are only flying over 10 meters which causes the pilot to think he is ascending. I am not saying the pilot have no responsibilities just because of the restrains of a helicopter he could have flown higher but it doesn't mean the pilot was the one that made the whole thing happen

How the hell would you know, when you’ve never flown a helicopter before in your life, what to do when such vast quantities of fog that reduces visibility to less than an inch that it can be seen from space forms just like that just 12 inches in front of you halfway through your flight and you’re flying at 150 mph?! He was so shocked and taken aback by such random and unforeseeable circumstances that he couldn’t stop the helicopter until it was too late! The fog was so heavy that even a TAWS or radar would have been completely useless! It only seems avoidable in retrospect!

I remember the moment when I found he died. We were out to lunch celebrating my grandma’s birthday. My cousin looked up from his phone and announced that Kobe had died. Even though we’re not a big sports family, it was shocking. We couldn’t believe it.

It's ok in life to be late for things, sometimes u have to slow down and listen to the voice of reason, someone was under great pressure here to get to a destination on time. I heard the pilot wanted to meet the customers demands and so attempted fate, to drive through fog wen other planes chose not to was a stupid,dangerous mistake. You donot play with bad weather. This was a sad event, which couldv9f been avoided.
Kobe had fired 2 pilots before, he had high expectations.

The pilot was instrument trained and even trained other pilots on how to fly by instruments but the company he worked for was only authorized to fly using visual reference. The pilot had already gotten into trouble and had to fill out a lot of paperwork for inadvertently flying into instrument conditions before and I think that is why he attempted to turn around and get to vfr conditions. I wonder if the outcome would've been different if the consequences of inadvertently flying into instrument conditions weren't so harsh. We will never know but it bothers me.
When a pilot flying Kobe had previously made an unscheduled stop, he was punished. I’m sure that this pilot would’ve also been punished if he had played it safe.
This is apparently the way Kobe wanted it.
So his high expectations killed him, his daughter and 5 innocent people.

Its all about SAFETY. Kobe would not have any other choice everyone was grounded. The pilot should have use common sense and

Crazy thing is Kobe was on my mind like really on my mind the week before the accident, I literally googled when will Kobe be inducted into the hall of fame and I had a crazy thought of what if Kobe die before hes inducted and sure enough it happened, I also thought to myself why are you thinking this, Kobe is very healthy takes good care of himself and hes not sick at all,,,not crossing my mind something like that would happen,,,that was one of the worst days of my life when I found out about Kobe...Rest easy Mamba, Mambacita, and the other seven lives that were lost on that tragic day.
