Great video as always, Lonny! A lot of good tips and sage advice, if you will, in this video. Just goes to show hard work will always pay off. Where you end up, may not be what you imagined, but you will have success somewhere. Success is never a straight line either, there's always up downs, twists and turns. Be cool to see more vids like this one! It inspired me to work harder, as it has done others judging by the comment section

You sleep less. Yuuuuppppp feel this. I remember running on 4 hours of sleep a night for a year between some local gigs, working 9 to 5 and just teaching drums on the weekends before I got into circulation teaching full time. Now that I'm in a job where I can teach and take time off without stress, the next move is hustling harder on the internet like you are then finding artists to do the touring thing like you dude. The last thing I want to do is become complacent and just settle into JUST being a private teacher.
Always a huge inspiration, thanks a ton homie.

You definitely have a lot of be proud of, even at your 30 years of age. You really worked your ass off to get where you are now, which inspires the hell out of me. As someone who has been trying for years to get my artwork to be successful and work towards wanting to design album cover artwork for bands, it gives me hope which is something I, and others, need that reminder now and then. And even in all the success you’ve had so far, you’ve stayed genuine and down to earth, which can be hard to find these days. We are all so proud of you! Success is always changing based on your dreams and goals, and maybe even others’ perception of what your success should look like. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned from you, it’s to keep pushing forward. Or “Hold on to hope”. Amazing video as always! Not going to lie, this video brought tears to my eyes. Thank you, Lonny🥺

Also loved you touching on different types of success. There are so many type of musicians out there and type of life people want is different for everyone. I know there are Renaissance faire preformers and preformers like that where success can be just playing at big fairs. And they are happy with what they do. One of the main ones I know and love is Alexander James Adams. And then there are other types of musicians also. And I love it. ❤️🥰

Im sorry did you say OLD? No way Lonny no way! The first time I ever saw one of your pictures last year I told myself “this guy’s probably 23/24” you look SO young! Also little side story from me: My dream career to this day has always been to be come a pediatric nurse mainly because that was my life growing up I had a lot of health struggles I’m happy to say now as I’m almost 20 I can actually live a normal life now and I haven’t had any struggles since 2017 and seeing how those nurses worked it sparked a dream in me I’ve always had I’m trying to continue education to pursue that dream and I’m really hoping that one day I can finally live that dream, anyway enough of talking about me. Your story is incredible I loved hearing it so happy to see how far you have come especially now that you’re apart of BVB it’s so crazy to even think about that you went from being in the BVB army to now being actually in BVB I absolutely love seeing you play you fit in so well!! Thank you so much for making this video! As someone who has a pretty strong interest in having some sort of career in art; music or otherwise, but isn’t too well versed in the possibilities or where to start, stuff like this is really helpful so that we can learn from people like you who had similar dreams and aspirations and were able to accomplish them. You’re one of my biggest artistic inspirations and seeing your journey is definitely a valuable lesson, it’s really cool to see how much people have been able to achieve :)
By the chance that you do happen to see this, I also had a question- when you started bass, how exactly did you start your learning process? Was there any sort of method you used to learn (like did you focus on things like scales and theory first or did you start right off with learning how to play bass lines and whatnot?) I recently started playing bass but I’m having struggles finding a defined place to start in comparison to my other instruments, so if you have any advice that’d be great
    Edit: And happy belated birthday!!

Amanda, I’m glad this video was helpful to you! Regarding starting bass, I find the best place to begin is to simply learn as many riffs as you can. This will make sure that you’re having fun right off the bat with the instrument, and also developing your finger movements. Start with Iron Man, Seven Nation Army, Dazed & Confused, Money, then take things from there. Once you have a good catalogue of riff repertoire, then start learning some scales and such to accompany that. There are many great instruction channels here on RUclips that can help guide you. Or if you have the budget, private lessons are great too!

@@LonnyEagletonMusic That’s good to know- I’ll get started right away on trying to find some more riffs to learn. Thanks!

Hey Lonny amazing video as always! I honestly just want to actually take the time and thank you for this video! Obviously as you know me being in college and working to make my dreams a reality be able to get this amazing advice from someone I look up to so much is really amazing! I can definitely agree with you on taking every opportunity you can get! This last semester I took a Material Science Engineering class as a part of my Mechanical Engineering degree! And I realized 2 things going into that class! Th first thing was that I am actually very interested in Material Science engineering in general but also that this engineering field works heavily in the Aerospace engineering field which is my plan and my dream is to be an Aerospace Engineer working to launch rockets to space! So through taking that class and keeping an open mind I actually found a part of myself that I never would have known existed so I am actually going to be double majoring in Material Science Engineering to give myself that much more of a push to make my dream happen! Also along side of it I am a part of the Microgravity Team class here at Boise and one of our teachers is a NASA astronaut and we right towards the end of last semester we’re actually 1 of the very few universities chosen by NASA to be a part of Project Artemis so we will be going to Huston to their facility this summer to test our device and if I hadn’t explained to my counselor that I want to be an Aerospace Engineer I would have never known about this class and be given this amazing opportunity to be a part of something huge and get the hall rolling with connections with Aerospace companies! Furthermore for the music side of my life I am currently working really hard and putting in a ton of practice to be able to knock my Audition for the Blue Thunder marching band out of the park this time! I also on Monday during my private lesson was talking with my teacher and she invited me to be a part of the trombone choir starting tomorrow for this semester so I am so excited to take on this new challenge and be able to play in a beautiful group with just other trombonists who are so amazing and talented! I also have an unfortunate update about my tour vlog as soon as I arrived and had just gotten my luggage at the air port in Boise on Monday (since we were leaving on the bus at 3 am on Tuesday to head out) I got an email from my directors that our team had to pull out of the bull game because of Covid reasons! So I was really disheartened and disappointed and so am not going to be posting a tour vlog since nothing really happened but yeah that is the update on that. But anyways I completely agree with you the one thing my parents have told me and continue to tell me is things happen for a reason! And everything that has happened for me so far I can say looking back that it is definitely true! Great job again and happy birthday again I hope you are doing well! You are the best!!!

And I now have an update Lonny!!!! So after sitting in on tonight’s rehearsal! I am officially a part of the Trombone choir!!!! I am now the only non music major or minor in both my brass studio class as a part of private lessons and now trombone choir! I guess you could definitely say I am taking your words of grabbing on to every opportunity and it being able to take you far in life extremely seriously! I couldn’t be happier and prouder of myself for becoming the musician I am now and how far I have even come within a semester of school!!! Thanks again Lonny for always inspiring me and supporting me with everything I really don’t know where I would be right now without you!

I am currently going to school for Music. I am technically going to be a choir director, but I am also being taught vocally and instrumentally. I already have a bit of background in both choir and band, and I would absolutely love to be a performing artist. Performing on a stage in front of people who actually want to see me has been a dream of mine since like early elementary school.

I’m switching from knowing a decent bit of guitar to purchasing my first bass. Your videos are inspiring. A lot more single notes in bass which is easier now slapping techniques is something foreign to me. Bvb is a lot of bass that I follow to cover. Great speed and doesn’t get too crazy. Super humble though man I live in va beach I’ll be at the concert in Norfolk in April I got tickets as long as I’m not deployed I’ll be there. 🤘🏻

Any body watch Simon Lizotte (disc golf) videos? He and Lonny could be brothers. At least as far as their mannerisms, their voices and put a black wig on Simon and they could also look a lot alike. Anyway, just came across Lonny’s video’s and really liking them so far. He seems super humble and chill.

Hay Lonny, it's me again... With another question on how to play fields of bone.
I have the bass tabs from your play through version but I just can't seem to play the 9-11-12 11-12-14 12-14-16, without my pinkie being in agony when I reach the 16th fret. I'm too stubborn to quit playing this song but even when I have the correct hand placements, it hurts. A lot.
I have been keeping it slow and gently picking up the pace but it doesn't seem to be helping.
What do you suggest I do? I'm applying to a music composition course in college soon too, and I think fields of bone would really help to get me in. Please help me man 😢
