I was 18 when Iron Man came out and ever since that movie I was a huge MCU fan. But everything post-Endgame has just been mediocre at best and flaming garbage at worst. I don’t see Marvel going out of business or stop producing films anytime soon given how large they are, but their glory days are certainly behind them.
You speak absolute truth. But the MCU had a good ten-year run. It still ran rings around the live-action DCU. But the problem is that Hollywood has painted itself in a corner. It can't go forward, b/c sci-fi and drama is so polluted with wokeness that it's barely watchable. It can't go backwards (e.g. to westerns and other period pieces) because studios refuse to portray the realism of the Old West, the Civil War, World Wars I and II, and the like. That's b/c such realism would trigger too many snowflakes (ooh! that was so racist/sexist! ooh! that battle scene was too gory!) and lead to boycotts and sit-ins. So then they'll try to water the history down so much to placate the "woke" masses that it will be completely unpalatable to everyday people. Case in point? "Red Tails" and "Pearl Harbor." I'm a black guy saying this, by the way. "Tombstone," on the other hand, was excellent. It showcased Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, Powers Booth, Sam Elliott, Michael Biehn, and the late great Bill Paxton at their absolute best. But today, a lot of folks would be so busy screeching about why there were no black people in it that the story itself would fly right over their heads.

But we're arguing about the same potato, the thing is they don't even conceive a black person can be anything but "thuggish rapper/graffittier from the ghetto"

All because they felt the need to mouth off and be clowns. It's very irritating.
@@fictiontheorizer1991 Especially when you see others, or (at least for me, can't speak for you) you, thinking up plot lines and story ideas that are exponentially better than what these "professionals" are doing. I'm not even saying these ideas are even all that great, just that what actually got released was THAT BAD. I've said it before.......most of these comic films' stories would be SO much better if they just grabbed a few fans of the IP off the street and let them brainstorm in a room for a week.
The talent is out there and if they would just hire and fire based on that talent; it would be a self-correcting problem, eventually. As it is, if we want quality, I guess it's time to start shopping the indie creators. The "major players" just don't know what do with their properties anymore.
@@richardmorris8902 I mean without a doubt it's a simple matter of watching older or reading older content to brainstorm better plots.
The reality is that fleshing them out to appease the fans would be much more difficult, but that is no excuse for some of these concepts being as bad as they are.
Better still, if your art appeals to everyone on a common level, it can highlight how they're more alike than not.

Some folks made fun of MC. Hammer. They said it was crass and dumb to yell out ones own name. There is a South Park character called Timmy who yells out "Timmy". Someone in a chat I woke up to this morning mentioned someone exclaims "By Odin's Fade" and I knew I had to hear Rippa's response to this. You'd think "Black Asgard" (which is cultural appropriation, isn't it?) would be more African inspired and less ghetto inspired.
So the one thing I am confused about with this...how does Miles getting the powers of Thor suddenly make Asgard black? Because I assume this What If is about the Miles Moralis we know, so I'd assume it'd be a moment in his life where instead of being bitten by a spider, he finds Mjolnir or a wooden cane he then strikes to become Mjolnir but I guess instead this is a character with a COMPLETELY different history who just happens to be called Miles Moralis. I don't really see what the appeal of this is because from what I see, you aren't getting Miles Moralis because Miles isn't Asgardian so this is just some wacky alternate universe with a completely separate Miles Moralis. At least with stories like say Superman becoming Batman, Superman at least had a similar enough origin before it diverged to the point where he became Batman. His life went a different direction but it at least started out similar to Superman's, here though, it clearly didn't start out the same as canon Miles so its not really a story of Miles Moralis at all so besides the racist stereotypes, you aren't even getting a story about the character you wanted because this isn't Miles Moralis. What a completely stupid story, though it was based on a stupid premise anyway because why would we want Miles to be Thor if the people who fell in love with Miles love him for being Spider-Man? That'd be like asking Batman to be Superman, surely you like the character of Batman because he's BATMAN, what are you getting out of him being Superman?

Treat your character like a normal person, and if people come, then they come. If not, then it's back to the drawing board.

I love how they make the What If Miles Morales even more ridiculous with the Guetthor with his graffiti hammer...seriously, its goofy as Hel.
Based as always, Eric.
I laughed the entire time when I was reading this comic.
😂🤣🤣😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 same
I mean how lazy are these "writers" if the just reuse the same guy for all the characters instead of giving new black characters a chance at the mantle lol wow.
how about they just stop trying to put black characters in any mantle and just create original black heroes instead? Thor , spiderman, cap america are NOT MANTLES
Holy shit… someone who sees Spiderverse for what it is. Damn Rippa you right
Yeah I agree
3 fps animation 😆
@@DaniloSantosVieira exactly right
I've been saying it's not a good movie but I just get called racist for not liking Miles. Which I respond with "Your racist for liking him only because you THINK he's black."
I said it when you first mentioned Spider-verse so I'll say it again, nobody can change my mind. It is one of my favorite movies. Logically though, you are 100% correct on all your criticisms of it and this. Hell I still don't understand the wearing shoes thing period. Even when Peter himself does it earlier in the movie. How are you sticking to walls wearing shoes?! Also miles is basically dark Peter. I loved him and related to him because he acted like me when I was younger and I'm white which is the funny thing since they say I'm not allowed to relate but I did. Anyways still a favorite movie, still hate his comics, still just pandering.
Spiderverse made a boring character interesting and we're treating it like that's a hard feat? It was a pleasant surprise at best, and I sure as hell enjoyed it when I saw it, but man, this should be the bare minimum for movies in general, not the exception.
Dude I've got covid right now. As soon as you said, "Peter Darker" I laughed and ended up coughing up all kinds of nasty shit. Thanks Dr. Rippa.
And then the writers have the audacity to protest for higher pay. Let it all burn. Bloody useless.
Oh God they got the f-king sneakers over the power wire XD
Seriously, "hammer time"? How old are the white dudes responsible for this?
I don't think they're that old they're just hipsters with a critical race theory and gender studies degree. 😂 Sometimes moments like this restore your faith in humanity.
Judging by those names of who wrote and drew it I’m not sure anyone white was involved in this.
That’s what happens when you try to appease weirdos
Marvel: "Next issue he will rap."
"Peter Darker" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 god damn it Ripper
Ahh, a Rippa Rant. I love it.
This is easily the corniest shit I have seen from marvel, but its also fucking hilarious now we see what happens when you encourage these writers to embrace "diversity".
Yeah! You know what they say. “Play stupid games and you win stupid prizes.”
This is also what happens when the concept of "diversity" has been watered down and limited to anyone short of a white, straight male that has the social and political worldview of a stereotypical mainstream leftist. But what gets me is when they try to claim said "diversity" and convince themselves that even when they all say the same shit, look the same way and act the same way, they're somehow being unique, bold, daring, and profound. I'd argue all of these diversity efforts are the products you end up with when you're out of ideas and you don't have a single ounce of creative originality. Authentic diversity should encompass a broad spectrum of things, but now it doesn't even matter if the idea is good or not, it just means "black, female, and gay" at this point and that's quality enough for them.
DC Static Shock revamp can actually go against this, its baffling how African Americans are represented as these tokens of modern day society in media, like c'mon
You have a perfect comment for this. Theyre all late to the game. The books and stories that have shaped my world for decades. The industry that we all used to have such passion for....i wouldnt piss on if it were on fire. They got him saying HAMMER TIME......its like ' Morbin Time ' with some extra racially charged stereotypes
I just noticed the shoes hanging from the telephone line, hahahahaha
The best is you cracking up on the hammer time part
When I found out there is a universal thor police force in the marvel universe that is in 616 with multiple thors of all species and colors … I complained about it for a year then got over it.
They ran out of ideas. I accepted it
This feels like an old person trying to relate to kids but fails.
Rippa!! Do your thing. I just finished getting my Cover A & B from the campaign!! HAD TO SUPPORT!! Continued success
My favourite part was when he popped out of a portal and shouted “ it’s Thor-bin time!” Goosebumps..
Your track record's been really good lately. Do you have any lottery tips?
Hammer Time! 😭
I'm just pissed I can't like this more than once, Nail....meet head, spot on Rippa!!
By Odin's Timbs, Rippa needs to invest in another spinning chair, black leather gloves, and a pair of aviators. "F YOU, I WAS RIGHT!!!"
I doubt the people complaining about stereotypes even read comic books lol
“Not only taking a dump on the Norse folks but also taking a dump on the Black folks you’re trying to signal to.”
TRUTH! 💯
Preach...
Damn, Marvel.
You really channeling that blacksploitation energy of the 1970s.
Ya know, thinking about it, casually doing "what ifs" of him as other characters really undermines the supposed weight and merit of him adopting the mantle of Spider-man. They make it seem as if the choice of Spider-man was purely arbitrary and not an important facet of the character, since t apparently could've easily just been any other one of these heroes instead, which only further reinforces the notion that he's just a lazy race-substitution character that exists for pandering sake.
It's funny, because they worked so hard to build that dude up a fanbase and now they'd just trivializing the core of the character.
To people who were sleeping on this problem, NOW……this is the wake up call. This was the jumping the shark moment 🤣
All this, while real, original and written black characters with distinct, different personalities either in Marvel or DC keep collecting dust.
Keep up the good work, Eric!
The worst character ever keeps getting worse. Starting to question if it’s really worth it making good art for shit that’ll likely cost more to make than it will sell in total.
Disregarding the horrible execution for a moment, the "What if" idea of Miles becoming Thor just seems really odd. If they wanted to go the whole "black Thor" route for a What if story, wouldn't T'challa have made more sense? He's literally got the qualities for a king!
Amen rippa. Let's sit this out, let them fight lol
Get em ERIC 😂🤣😂🤣
Tony Stark is Iron Man.
Clint Barton is Hawkeye.
Peter Parker is Spiderman.
Clark Kent is Superman.
But Thor is Thor. Thor is not an alias, not the name for his superhero persona, it's literally his name and his entire identity. That's why Jane Foster is NOT a female Thor (that would be Thor turned into a woman), she's Jane Foster with Thor's powers. And Miles Morales can't be Thor either, what he can be is Miles Morales with Thor's powers. Sry for the rant but I felt like this needed to be said.
bruce wayne is batman
